Let's get you back out there

With COVID-19 vaccines quickly being administered globally, some of us housebound travelers are wondering: where can I travel to once I’m fully vaccinated?

The world at large is breathing a huge sigh of relief as a future without restrictive COVID-19 rules seems much more plausible than it was a few months ago. And governments who’ve been hit by plummeting tourism numbers are more than eager to have us back on their beaches once again.

As a result, countries are quickly updating their policies to facilitate travel in a post-COVID world. A few have already reopened their borders and scrapped quarantine and testing requirements for fully vaccinated travelers. If you’re eager to hop on a plane to your next bucket list destination, check back regularly for updates.

Here’s our updated guide for countries that are allowing fully vaccinated travelers:

1. Europe

The EU has reopened to vaccinated travelers since late April. Those planning to travel there should be aware that all countries in the EU reserve the right to "pull the plug" on their tourism at a moment's notice. That being said, travelers considering to go to European nations with stringent COVID protocols should consider a FlexiPass when booking their tour.

2. Georgia

Beginning on February 1, all foreigners who are fully vaccinated have been granted unrestricted entry into Georgia. Visitors must provide proof that they’ve received both doses of their chosen vaccine. Potential tourists should be aware that this requirement means Georgia does not accept Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine.

3. Ecuador

On March 17, Ecuador opened its borders to all travelers who can provide a vaccination certificate on arrival. Previously, only tourists who had a negative PCR test were allowed to enter. Travelers who are fully vaccinated can also visit the famous Galapagos islands.

This island nation began allowing fully vaccinated visitors from any country entry in January. Potential tourists must provide proof they’ve received a double dose vaccine (which excludes the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine) and that their last dose was administered no more than two weeks prior to their arrival. Tourists must also show a negative PCR test result taken 72 prior to travel. If all of these requirements are met, they will be allowed free movement around the country.
