If you’re considering a guided tour, one of the questions you may be asking is, “How will I get along with my tour guide?” Well, by and large, tour guides are known for being capable, fun, outgoing leaders who are there to make sure your trip is the best it can be.

Coming from extremely diverse backgrounds, tour guides are skilled at communicating and getting along with almost everyone. Not only does their job require it, but they enjoy it!

It’s a profession that attracts everyone from artists, scientists, historians, and other talents of all ages.

Here are 5 ways your tour guide will become your favorite person:

1. Great Sense of Humor

Let’s face it: sometimes things go wrong on a tour. The car/jeep/bus gets a flat tire, it starts to rain, your fellow tour goers’ personalities might rub you the wrong way. It happens. But your tour guide has seen this all before. And the issues you face become much more bearable with their ability to keep the mood light.

2. Infectious Enthusiasm

You never thought that millionth castle or art piece would suddenly ignite excitement, but your tour guide has the ability to turn virtually  any  subject into an enthralling story. They’ll bring history to life in unexpected ways!

3. They Bring the Party

We’re not saying they’re raucous, late-night clubbers, but they usually know how to cut loose and have fun! The life of a tour guide is almost the epitome of “work hard / play hard,” and when it is time to play, they’ll know the best spots and will make sure everyone is having a good time.

4. Everyone is Taken Care Of

Tour guides have the ability to work with each and every person to make sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying themselves. Guides, by virtue of their position, deal with all different personalities day in and day out. With this comes the mastery and skill to know when and how to include everyone in conversation. By the end of your trip don’t be surprised if the shyest person in the group has become the chattiest!

5. Masters of Communicating

And not just to diffuse tension (though why you’re tense we couldn’t say. After all … you’re on vacation!). Aside from being able to speak in multiple languages, tour guides can deftly interpret gestures, intonations, and expressions that speak universally. This brings to light just how similar people around the globe really are and how much we have in common.
