Editoral Review of Haggis Adventures
Founded in 1993, Haggis Adventures provides affordable day and multi day trips in Scotland for young travelers.
What Makes Haggis Adventures Stand Out?
For young budget travelers, this a great Scotland tour company to consider. They have regular departures and really cater to people trying to travel as budget conscious as possible. Haggis Adventures offers multiple payment structures, including a “pay as you go” option.
Their trips are designed to be fun, entertaining, and open to spontaneity - with a nice balance of cultural and historical notes. Guides are locals, excited to introduce their fascinating country to you. As such classic sites are usually included, as well as unique local gems, whiskey tastings, and other areas of interest that might not be in the guidebook.
Who Will Enjoy Traveling with Haggis Adventures?
Independant, young budget travelers seeking an entertaining and fun trip through Scotland. Their groups tend to be in the 18-30 age range, and group size varies but typically hovers around 20 people. Unlike some other 18-30 tour companies, there is no age maximum on Haggis Adventures tours, however their travel style is active and youthful.
This kind of travel is often most enjoyed by energetic, outgoing travelers, who are always up for a good time and open to meeting a lot of new people. If you are on the shyer side, consider that Haggis Adventures trips, while fun, are not terribly long. So if it takes you a long time to warm up to new people, this may not be the kind of tour you’re looking for. That said, Haggis does offer a lot of time to explore on your own which can create the perfect balance for the more introverted traveler.
They appreciate the backpacking spirit and their tours definitely attract travelers who have the mentality of adventurous independence. The tour aspect is there to help with socializing, a bit of cultural background, transportation, and accommodation - which is hostel based with few frills but comfortable. Many aspects of your days, including all meals, are entirely up to you - so a willingness to frequently explore on your own is key.
Top Destinations
They offer day trips, and multi day trips between 2-10 days throughout Scotland. Trips are geared toward international travelers, so top sites such as Loch Ness and the Isle of Skye are usually included (depending on the tour length).
Haggis Adventures Travel Style
The Haggis Adventures travel style is all about traveling on a budget - their aim is to make it as easy, affordable, and fun to see Scotland with local guides. This does mean that accommodations are in basic, multi-bed rooms at hostels, and all meals are on your own (to allow for you to have full control over your spending).
Although they cater to a younger crowd, many of whom may sign up for the whiskey tasting more than the castle tour, lip service is paid to key cultural and historical facts. Most time though is spend either on the bus or outdoors among the Scottish elements (it will be chilly!).
Transportation is in their “famous yellow Mercedes Benz coaches”. Vehicles are comfortable, and designed to be eco-friendly. Expect some off-roading!
Why Choose a Tour with Haggis Adventures?
If you are a young traveler seeking a fun group to travel through Scotland with, this is the perfect tour company for you. They definitely cater to those who like to be around a group and have a independent spirit - often their tours are attended by backpacking travelers as a part of a larger trip through the UK.
Their tours run regularly, so it’s easy to book Haggis Adventures tours on short notice - they also provide a few different payment options, including a “pay as you go” option.

About the company
Back in 1993 a dynamic team of Scots established a backpacker travel company that broke the mould - fully guided trips that allowed intrepid young adventurers to discover Scotland with the best, most knowledgeable and sexiest Guides leading the way.
We have always stuck stubbornly to our mission – to make every trip we run the best yet. We believe that a country's culture, history, myths and legends can only truly come to life through a local and that you can have an incredible time travelling on a budget. Therefore choice is at the heart of what we do. It's your trip so we don't package or impose restrictive kitties.
We also have a book and go guarantee and mean just that. We have never cancelled a single trip. You have made the effort to come and explore our country so the least we can do is show you around!
Haggis has built its reputation through word of mouth recommendation and having started with just one trip we now run a whole range of award-winning adventures throughout Scotland and also Cornwall and Wales.
Why go Haggis?
We're a proud bunch who know what makes an unforgettable trip. You're travelling in our backyard so we consider it our duty to get you loving our homeland as much as we do!
Our mission is to make each trip we run the best yet. We love travel and travelling with like-minded people. It's all about getting out there and doing stuff, discovering new things and having a blast with the people you travel with. We've picked up a few awards along the way and that's because we have a legendary team of who are passionate about what they do.
Our Guides: Legendary - that's just one way we can describe our team but the most accurate. Unique characters all with bags of energy, enthusiasm and a breath-taking knowledge of their homeland, they're the ones who will make your Haggis trip the most unforgettable travel experience of your life.
Choice: We know you are travelling on a budget so you should spend your cash how you want to. If we do stop at a paid attraction, there's always a free alternative that's just as good. Hostel accommodation is guaranteed on all trips. We reserve the beds and you choose to 'Pay As You Go' or 'Pre-Pay' with one of our bundles. You can also treat yourself to a Private Room upgrade where available.
Our Book & Go Guarantee: We mean just that. Once you book your trip, it will run. Since 1993 we have never, ever, ever, cancelled a single trip. You've made the effort to come see our country, so it's the least we can do!
The famous Haggis buses: Our yellow Mercedes Benz coaches are the latest models, custom built for exploring and have eco-friendly (low-emission) engines - ideally suited for getting off the beaten track. Your comfort and safety are top priorities to us. We like to do things properly!
