Best Things to Do in Austria

Iconic Attractions & Hidden Gem Travel Experiences

Austria

Austria -- the land of Mozart, Strauss, the Sound of Music, Alps, the Danube, Salzburg, and Vienna to name a few of the best-known icons -- has given us some of the world's greatest music, scenery, and cities. Once the center of power of a great empire, it's now a small Central European country that continues to enchant with its mountains, lakes, rivers, historic sites, grand Baroque architecture, orchestras, cafes, vineyards, villages, and Viennese cosmopolitanism. Whether you tour it by river cruise ship, mountain bike, or bus, Austria is one of Europe's essential stops.

Highlights of Europe Start Amsterdam
Lucerne was my favorite location. The Italian dinner in Rome at the family home was delicious and such a fun night. I highly recommend going on the excursion in Venice for dinner at Villa Machiavelli.

Highlights of Europe
The itinerary is excellent! There are SO many countries covered in a small amount of time.

A lot of activities are included in the trip without optional add-ons. I chose to do all of the optionals, which made my trip more amazing. However, it's nice to be able to customize the trip with or without optionals.

There were countries I wanted to stay in longer, but I know the nature of a highlight tour is to get a taste of each country. Our thorough tour director also explained this concept from the very beginning. For my first time in Europe, this type of tour was the best choice for me.
