Tour Tips
  • Get to the starting port a day or two early to have time to relax. Leaving from Athens? Explore the ruins on your own before meeting with your tour group the next day.
  • The sun in the Mediterranean can be stronger than you're used to; make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.
  • Keep hydrated during your trip. Being in the sun all day and participating in activities can dehydrate you fast.
  • Research the ports you'll be stopping in before you go to maximize your time there. If you're stopping in Monaco for only a day, decide if you want to spend time in the famous Monte Carlo casino, shopping, or strolling along the pier admiring the yachts.
  • Bring a variety of clothing and footwear. You want to make sure you're comfortable when you're exploring Naples on foot, as well as relaxing on the beach. Keep in mind that many cities on the Mediterranean have cobblestone streets, and appropriate footwear is necessary to prevent injury or discomfort.
  • The time of year is an important factor to consider, as most of your activities will be outside. The summer months can get quite hot, so consider going in the spring or fall if you're not up to being in the heat. The Mediterranean might be best explored in May or September for cooler, but still enjoyable weather.
  • If you want to go to a private beach, make sure to get there early to reserve your sunbed and parasol. Beaches get very crowded, especially in the summer, and having shade and a comfortable place to lay can make a huge difference. While public beaches are free, be aware that certain parts of the Mediterranean are full of rocks and don't make a comfortable spot for lying all day.
  • Be courteous and learn basic phrases of the countries you're going to. A simple "bonjour" (hello in French) and "grazie" (thank you in Italian) can go a long way with the locals you are interacting with.

The time we spent was amazing.

Egypt Family Adventure

5.0 January 2017 Look at Egypt Recommend: Yes The whole 10 days exploring the past civilizations of Egypt with Look at Egypt Tours were all very memorable and I was mind blown with the brilliant condition of the monuments. The time we spent was amazing. The knowledge, professionalism and passion of the Egyptologists will help ensure that the whole holiday experience will live with us for many years to come. As a couple who have travelled extensively around the world, this is one of our most memorable and enjoyable holidays. The organization of our holiday from our landing in Cairo, through trips to enjoy Egypt's wonderful past and an understanding of its current issues, the people, the beautiful scenery and relaxation of cruising on the Nile. The visits to the Pyramids, Temples and Tombs was second to none. For those contemplating a trip to Egypt - just go!! You will not be disappointed. Read more

We recommend Look at Egypt tours for Egypt holidays

Egypt Family Adventure

5.0 January 2017 Look at Egypt Recommend: Yes This is the first holiday in Egypt with the kids and we had a blast of a time there. Most of it thanks to Ahmed in look at Egypt Tours. Took the 10 days private tours, in November 2014, covered most of the historical sites, and amazing Nile cruise.

My husband & I came to Egypt as tourist and left as an honored guest, or part of a family, look at Egypt Tours family. Personal touches abound from the very
moment we touched down at the Cairo Int'l airport. It is harder to fulfill our expectations or wants due to very fact that it was our 2nd time 'covering' Egypt. Not only look at Egypt tours fulfilled our expectations, they exceed them. The staffs' warmth and perpetual sense of humor kept us captivated & engaged all the time. We recommend them for everybody who want to visit Egypt.

A holiday in Egypt that we will never forget.

Egypt Family Adventure

5.0 January 2017 Look at Egypt Recommend: Yes Look at Egypt tours provided us with holiday in Egypt that we will never forget. We had 10 days in Egypt and split the time between Cairo and the Nile (cruising from Luxor to Aswan). As soon as we landed in Cairo, everything was easy, efficient and secure - from the minute they met us as we walked off the plane. They were happy to accommodate our requests, booking the hotel we wanted in Cairo (Mena House, historic hotel at the base of the pyramids) with no trouble. All hotels, van transportation to sites, flights to Luxor and back from Aswan, the Nile cruise, everything was taken care of by Look at Egypt. We did not have to worry about anything after we arrived. Could not have
been better!

Ahmed was our guide for the entire trip. He is the owner of the company and incredibly knowledgeable about all of the sites we toured. He engaged our 6 year old son and happily answered his many many questions. Spending so much time with Ahmed, we also learned a lot about the current state of Egypt. It was great to get to know him and learn not only about the Egypt's past, but also about it's present.

We highly recommend Look at Egypt tours! And definitely go on the Nile cruise. The sites in Luxor all the way down to Aswan are amazing! Consider staying a day or 2 extra in Aswan, get off the cruise ship and stay in the Cataract Hotel (old wing) and imagine what it was like to travel to Egypt in the early 1900s. Get on the water in a smaller boat in Aswan and motor around the huge rocky islands. We went to the Nubian Village by water, and while the Village stop was just visiting one home (although our son got to pet a crocodile, so he loved it!) the boat ride there was completely worth it! Our favorite sites: The pyramids, Karnak, Valley of the Kings, Kom Ombo, Philae, Abu Simbel, and being on the water in Aswan.

Mediterranean Sea Trips & Tour Advice

The Mediterranean is perhaps the best known sea in the world, lapping the beaches of southern Europe, stretching east to the shores of the MIddle East, defining the coastline of North Africa, and enveloping scores of islands that are destinations in their own right. The array of cultures and cuisines it has helped to nourish over thousands of years are dizzying in their variety, and its scenic beauty is on display from countless promontories. Stride can help you decide which parts of this historic sea should be at the top of your list.

Countries to Visit

Think about what you're most interested in seeing. Do you want to see the beautiful islands of Greece and get to know the culture? Consider going to the Eastern Mediterranean to explore the villages in Mykonos and eat delicious food in Santorini. Maybe you're more interested in historical sites. The Mystical Sites of Ancient Turkey will let you see ancient buildings and churches, explore artifacts from all around the region in museums, and relax at beautiful beaches.

Length of the Cruise

Consider how long you want to be gone for. Do you want to do a cruise for less than a week? The 5 night Mediterranean Magic Cruise might be a good pick for you. These shorter ones tend to have a jam packed itinerary to maximize what you see. If you're looking for a longer cruise, consider trips such as the 13 day Best of South Italy cruise. The advantage of longer cruises are a few "sea days" are often built in between ports to allow you to relax on the ship in between all the sightseeing on land.

Transportation

Many popular tourist cities can be reached easily be train or bus. If you'll be staying in Nice but want to see other surrounding cities, you can hop on the train to see Marseille or Eze for an easy day trip. If you're in staying by the Aeagan Sea, taking a ferry might be easiest to get around. A little research ahead of time can save you time as well as money. Public transportation is fairly affordable in Europe and is usually a more practical option over a cab.
