I recommend Geographic Expeditions -- Especially in conjunction with travel in Bhutan January 2017

Geoex Company Reviews

My husband and I went to Bhutan with Geographic Expeditions for approximately 1.5 weeks. Geographic Expeditions really tailored the trip to our wants and desires, given all of the available options in Bhutan.

Geo Ex assigned a trip coordinator to us. We communicated with her via email and phone several times during the planning phase of the journey. She asked us thought provoking questions and really gave us good advice. For example, we were initially interested in trekking. She probed into the length of the trek that we would be willing to take. Given that we are from the SF Bay Area and have done a significant amount of hiking in the Rockies and Sierras, she advised us only to do a trek in Bhutan if it were going to be a long trek -- the shorter treks that we were contemplating would not take us to the spectacular Himalayan terrain that we would be expecting. Great advice when planning a trip -- we would not have known this without her and would have potentially been disappointed.

The guide that Geo Ex provided stayed with us during our entire trip. He spoke excellent English and both informative and funny. I don't think we could have gotten a better, local guide than Geo Ex provided.

I believe that we could choose lodging options from a few luxury options that were available. We went with Aman Hotels. Given that the hotels were all very similar in style, it might have been interesting to mix it up a bit more. But each hotel was small and truly first class in terms of luxury, room style and food.

All in all, I think Geographic Expeditions did a fantastic job. We enjoyed this luxurious journey. I would definitely recommend a Geo Ex trip -- especially for off the beaten path journeys.

Excellent coverage of major cities and Guizhou Province January 2017

An Oxford WWI Conference: Remembering The Great War

Road Scholar (also known as Elderhostel) offers hundreds of tours worldwide, using local tour companies, sometimes universities. I have taken RS tours to Africa, China, and France and look forward to more. This was my first "tour" of China, but my 20th visit, with the rest on business. Our guide, Mei Mei, was one of the finest I've seen on tours. We started with Beijing and continued to Xian and then to Guizhou Province for a week in this fascinating area, which was new to me. We were able to meet the people in the villages, thanks to our guide, and enjoyed the chance to see and photograph such a variety of places in China. Hotels were excellent and appropriate to this type of tour (usually centrally located and very fine). Meals were family style and always good. Road Scholar makes its tours educational and doesn't push shopping as so many commercial ones do. Touring in China is very safe. You do have a lot of walking and RS tells you this in the tour, but it seems that a great deal of the walking is in those huge airports! I recommend Road Scholar and always turn to their catalogs to choose my next trip. Read more

Wow January 2017

Classic India

Toni's country knowledge and travel experience were very important. We loved all of the customized tours we received. There were separate guides for the dabba wallah and the Dhobi ghat in Mumbai. We especially enjoyed meeting the spice trader in Cochin and then meeting up with him again in Kumla to see how cardamom is processed. I'll never forget Brunton Boatyard....such a great location to watch the shipping activity on the bay.

Paradisa Plantation...its exotic location and the traditional Kerala house.

The food at both of them was absolutely amazing.

Amazing time! January 2017

Grand Circle Cruise Line Company Reviews

My entire family just wrapped up a 12 day trip, "Christmas Markets on the Rhine", and we had an amazing time! My grandparents are Inner Circle members, but this was the first time for the other 7 of us. The ship - MS River Rhapsody - was clean and very comfortable to stay on, the crew was absolutely phenomenal, and the program directors were very friendly and knowledgeable about the places we were visiting. The morning walking tours were something I really enjoyed, since they gave us a personal introduction to each city. I have zero complaints and will look into taking another trip with Grand Circle in the future :) Read more

Incredible! September 2016

Wilderness Camping

Had an amazing trip in Serengeti and Ngorongoro with Agama Tours. Me and 3 other friends went for a 4 day, 3 night safari in the wilderness of Tanzania. Went with them after a recommendation from a friend. So happy we did. Although we tried different companies quotes, Agama's was the most attractive and professional.

Had an absolute wonderful time with our fabulous guide Felisi! Pick up on time at our hotel and off we went! Loved every minute of the trip. Felisis great humour, knowledge about all nature and wildlife and professionalism made us very comfortable. The tented Wild Camps in Serengeti and Ngorongoro were very nice and luxurious to be at! Great food and cool views.

Big thanks to Lara and Kabalo for organizing this wonderful trip for us

Best trips we have been September 2016

Micato Safaris Company Reviews

This was definitely one of the best trips we have been on and it was first class service from the planning phase through the actual trip. These agents and their company were the best travel agency that we have ever worked with! From the planning phase, which they had a large array of services and options. Our agent and her travel company planned the trip of a lifetime for us! We began planning our 10 year anniversary trip to Italy last summer - almost a year before our trip. We found this agent and her company on Zicasso and she really understood the type of trip we were looking for. Our Spain travel agency did an excellent job planning our trip and providing support and services while we were in Spain. The owner of our travel agency is an excellent guide and has a stable of excellent guides and drivers on whom she calls to provide further support for travelers. Read more
