Accessible Travel Tours & Travel Guide

Accessible Travel Attractions & Landmarks Guide

Accessible Travel can be defined as any tour company or travel experience (such as an attraction) that is open and navigable by those traveling with a disability. If you are handicapped, walk with a cane or walker, or use a wheelchair, arranging travel can be difficult, but it's definitely not impossible! We're here to help!

There are many vacation options for people with disabilities, and it’s probably not as difficult as you might think to travel almost anywhere in the world.

The Most Accessible Cities in Europe

Europe is still one of the most popular travel destinations in the world, particularly for older travelers. The romantic cobblestone streets however, can present a problem for some. And Europe is absolutely covered with them.

Many cities in Europe have been making vast improvements to how they can be more friendly to disabled travelers. But unlike the United States, not everywhere is held to the same legal standards for making all transportation, attractions, and restaurants accessible.

Of the major cities, a few that stand out are Berlin, Vienna, London, and Barcelona. These cities are fairly flat, and easily navigable for wheelchairs or walkers.

Traveling in a Wheelchair

There are many things to be aware of when traveling with a wheelchair. Many tour companies are beginning to offer tours that are welcoming to wheelchair travelers, but always contact them regarding your desired itinerary.

It is recommended to have a collapsible wheelchair, as most tours and cruises will require this. Also, some cruises, while accessible for wheelchairs, may not be able to accommodate wheelchair travelers on every excursion. For more information visit our guide on wheelchair travel.
