Travel Style Travel Style Relaxed A lot of free time, with very few inclusions. Ideal for independent and/or low-key travelers and cruisers.
Full on For those looking to maximize their sight seeing time. You thrive on a packed day’s schedule from 8 am to 6pm, with some (but limited) free time. Most activities and meals included.
Mixed You will have solid amounts of both free time and structured time with some activities and meals included.

Trip Type Trip Type Group Tour Groups are between 25-60 people, typically ~30-40. Usually there will be many opportunities to split off and enjoy meals and excursions in smaller groups. This is the most economical way to travel, saving up to 40% versus booking the same itinerary yourself.
Small Group Tour Small groups are usually defined as between 10 and 24 travelers, often less. If you're the kind of person who enjoys more intimate experiences and personal service this is a good choice. All else being equal you will pay a premium for this style vs a larger group tour.
River Cruise These vessels are smaller than most ocean cruisers, limiting which amenties are available. Passenger counts can vary. One of the biggest advantages of a river cruise is the ability to dock at smaller ports and local villages.
Small Ship Cruise Small ship cruises usually have a max passenger count of 500. The primary purpose of these trips is to spend time off the vessel in local ports (e.g. Mediterranean) or experiencing nature (e.g Galapagos or Antarctica). Cabins can vary from budget to luxury.
Private Guided Private tours give you the undivided attention of a guide, and often involve special access to sites and unique experiences not available to larger groups. This is a great option for families, couples, and small friend groups. Expect to pay a bit more for the extra service.
Self Guided / Independent Tour A travel company plans your itinerary and arranges all the logistics including lodging, local activities, and transportantion. You have the flexibility of a solo trip while still getting the convience and time savings of expert planning. Get 90% of the benefits of a tour, without a guide.
Vacation / Holiday Package Similar to a self guided tour, this usually involves a home base, such as a hotel or resort, with packaged activities and day tours as a part of the stay.
Large Ship Cruise This is the "floating city" experience, with multiple ways to enjoy your vacation aboard the ship as much as on land. Ships are multiple floors, provide several activities, culinary, and shopping options. They often make fewer stops and have less time available for shore excursions.

An excellent introduction to this large and fascinating country. The itinerary allowed us to get a real flavour of the history, archaeology and topography. The sites and ordering of the stop-overs were excellently chosen.
Having been steeped in ancient history from an early age I was amazed to find myself in Troy and to realise that it was a very small small acropolis but with great influence both geographically and historically.

I have been on many Exodus trips and generally have admired the leaders. This time though, Tolga excelled all my previous experience. Knowledgeable and caring about his country and caring of his guests ---and a gastronome who led us to all the best eateries [all Exodus clients seem ready for the next meal].

Do take the trip. One tip is that in terms of cash, it is better to put money into your back account at home and to use the many ATM's available everywhere. There are far more ATM's [and they are open all hours of course] than there are exchange outlets.

Exodus are so reliable-- trustworthy in all circumstances. On this trip we had to be diverted because of unrest in Ankara and it happened calmly, seamlessly and very satisfactorily.

My Absolute Turkey tour was wonderful! It had everything, from hot air ballooning in Cappadocia to to pottery workshops and relaxing by the beach. A great mix of activities and incredible historic sites. The homestay and meals with local Turkish families was a highlight, experiencing the food and conversation of daily life of the Turkish people, and feeling so welcome in this far off land!

We booked through viator but Ada Vegas Travel travel was the operator. The service was excellent with airport transfer included. The 15 passenger bus was modern and comfortable (Mercedes Benz) with on board WiFi.
Our guide, Fatih Ergul, was excellent. His knowledge of the ancient history, his enthusiasms and love of Turkey made the trip a quite enjoyable learning experience. He knew how to tie or connect the history from one site to the next.
The hotels were also very good. The Hotel Momento is about 2 blocks from the Grand Bazar and the tramp. The Iris hotel in Canakkale has a very reasonable priced Haman, turkish bath, way cheaper with better service than those famous hamam in istanbul. The dining patio is right on a sandy beach, so bring your swim outfits.
The hotel Hilton in Kusadasi is also a nice one, overlooking the harbor and the ocean, also with a nice pool to dip in after a hot and humid day in Turkey. At night, one can walk about 100 m down hill to the main street next to the water, where all the night life activities are (lots of restaurants and cafe).
The Colossae hotel in Pamukkale, though rated 5* was just too big with too many customers. Our dinner was in a room that can fit 700 people, and it was full. It did not even have an elevator. I wonder how elderly travelers can carry their full suit case up to 2 flights.
In Pamukkale, our optional activity was to see a Whirling Dervishes dance for 50 Liras. I would recommend this because as I learned later that the dance came from Rumi’s teaching (for those who like to read Rumi’s poems). Beautiful and entrancing dance.
The last day with 500 km to travel back to Istanbul and the potential of a Friday traffic jam, our group opted to by pass Bursa ‘s the Green Mosque visit (I guess if you see one mosque you see them all) and the Silk Market, and took the most direct route to Yalova ferry and paid the additional 50 liras to directly transport back to Istanbul right below the hotel (that way we save about 3 hours and get back to the hotel at 5:30Pm instead of 9). This way we had time to go to the Grand Bazaar and still had time to get up at 2:30AM to go the airport.

A diverse trip, packed with lots of places to see over 2 weeks, yet it didn't feel too rushed and we had more free time than I have had on other similar holidays.
Too many to mention but Capadoccia, Ephesus and the underground city at Derinkuyu were all highlights. Istanbul is fascinating, with plenty to see and do and the hotel in Cunda was especially nice, with dinner on a private jetty.

Fatih Develi was knowledgeable, calm and professional and went out of his way to arrange different things for us to see on the way, including a wine tasting, which everyone really enjoyed. He is passionate about his country and knows so much about its history and culture, there wasn't a question he couldn't answer - and we put him to the test!! We couldn't have asked for a better guide and our driver Mustafa was great too, always with a ready smile and there were some long drives.

Spend extra time in Istanbul at the end of the holiday if you can, as there is so much to see there - a boat trip is definitely worth doing. Pack a good mix of clothes - in early September, it was hotter than expected, so take some things to layer up. A spare battery for your camera is also a good idea, one I wish I had had when my camera died while at Ephesus!

Consider a change of hotel in Istanbul - all the hotels were good, but the Istanbul choice was probably everyone's least favourite. It would also be nice to go to more authentic Turkish restaurants in the evening, but depending on where you are, this is not always possible.

It was an interesting, varied trip but could be improved.
The balloon flight. I couldn't believe it when they actually landed on the trailer! No bumpy landing this time. I didn't know whether to take photos of the 100 balloons around us or the landscape! Very impressive.

In my opinion she gave us too much information. We could have looked round the sites while there were not many visitors, but she kept talking so we missed that slot. If we had wanted to know more we would look it up on the internet.

Make sure you see the sites behind the theatre at Aspendos. All tour groups don't go there and it was only that I had requested to see it we were allowed. You leave all the crowds behind and get a great view looking down on the theatre in peace.

Yes, I was really upset about not stopping to view a canyon. We went right by it. We had only visited a carpet shop in the morning and had nothing planned for the rest of the day. We could easily have fitted in a stop here. When I asked to stop I was told it cost too much to park the bus. That is rubbish as we would all have paid extra to have a look round here. Then the guide came up with "It is too dangerous". That is also rubbish when you see all the people walking up there. The last excuse was that it can't be done all year. It could have been done when we were there. It really spoiled the trip. Also we were rushed through the canyon we did stop at.
