Best Things to Do in Arles

Our trip to Peru and Galapagos was absolutely spectacular. Active Adventures didn't miss a detail and their primary objective was to make us happy and safe in everything we did. Our family of four - my husband and me, and our two college-age kids, loved all the activity which included hiking, biking, kayaking, scuba, and snorkeling. We started every day early in the morning and didn't end until well after 8:00 pm. The trip also included planes, trains and automobiles that was much like the movie of that name, but no reason to dwell on that. I felt like we got to be with the local culture and were immersed in our South American environment. Our group was also fantastic and will hopefully travel again with our new friends.

The Iguana trip really is 2 trips taken over a 2 week period of time just as advertised. The Peru portion definitely is activity level 4 compounded by the Altitude. I would definitely suggest that guests arrive a few days early in an attempt to acclimate to the altitude. We stayed in the Inka 1 hotel for the 2 days we had arrived in advance & highly recommend this hotel . They transported us from the airport & allowed us to check in @ 8 am to get some much needed shut eye after an overnight flight . Our tour actually went out of the Hotel San Agustin- very nice hotel but very noisy which made it difficult to sleep . The visit to Sacsayhuman was perfect for day 1 . Day 2 bike / Hike was simply awesome & the surprise lunch was fantastic. Our tour guide for the week in Peru was Arturo and he was everything anyone could ask for - attentive, articulate, knowledgeable and pleasant . The Day 3 hike had to be changed due to mudslides- thus an already long & Challenging hike was made even more difficult. ( 9 am- 6 pm at altitude). We had a fun, exciting, wonderful trip of a lifetime! We did not want to be driven around on a bus with old people, and this sure was nothing like that! It also was manageable for those of us who wanted to be outdoors and active, but are not military buff. Erick was very accommodating about adjusting the trip activities to fit our abilities, and he was fast thinking, capable and resourceful about getting help when I got in trouble with altitude sickness and its effects. He and Pablo were both enthusiastic, fun and engaging guides. They both took us to a wonderful variety of great restaurants with fabulous food throughout the trip.

This trip was exactly what we hoped for - packed with gorgeous views, amazing history, beautiful handcrafts and lots of time being out in the beautiful landscapes. Our time in the Galapagos was equally magnificent - we swam with turtles and sharks, saw many unique birds and enjoyed the unique culture on 3 separate islands. The guide were incredibly knowledgeable and skilled at managing the group. We were thrilled with this second trip with Active after a wonderful time in New Zealand last year.

A massive trip with so many memories and fab experiences. Great to bookend the trip with extra days if you can as we found the travelling tiring. From Brisbane we found we'd flown 16 sectors!
