London to Istanbul Rail Adventure

The sense of distance and difference between the many countries visited. Every part of the trip was positive, filled with colour, scents, adventures, culture, relaxation and opening of horizons. The trip on the Sagan 8 railway through the Mokra Gora mountains was inspiring and particularly so learning about the dreams coming to fruition of those who believed in and restored it. Experiencing the food of the different countries was always a relaxing and exciting adventure. The overnight train from Plovdiv to Istanbul was fascinating, taught you much about your fellow travellers and the sheer sense of well-being as you lay on your bed watching the golden countryside roll by as daylight dawned was hard to beat. Our leader, Elena, was the perfect leader as not only was she knowledgeable, experienced and professional, but also kind, warm, empathetic and caring.
