Attentive to each person's needs

To me Cheepers is a10 star company. I love traveling and birding with them. The birding is outstanding, the bird guides outstanding, and the birders themselves are such wonderful people to be with. I like the casual, comfortable, non-competitive approach to birding. While our guides have unfailingly worked (and intensely) to make sure everyone sees the bird, I've never felt as if I were among high intensity birders who are competing either with others or themselves. And I can't remember a single trip where anyone was unable to see the bird. The price of each trip is what really appeals to my "retired budget." I've yet to experience any kind of lodging that was substandard; every place I have been, we've stayed at good places close to where we can get to the birds we want to see. The leaders are never intrusive or over bearing, yet are constantly aware of each person and attentive to each person's needs. Birding is hard work, yes; but birding with Cheepers is so much fun. I could go on but to use a very overworked word, this company is just plain awesome. It is my company of choice for any birding trip.

You guys are amazing!

You guys are amazing! I should have written a review sooner but receiving the photos from the trip completely warmed my heart and reminded me of what an amazing company you are. I'm so grateful for the care and attention you give every person that goes on a birding trip with you and would recommend you to anyone. It's all about the details when you're spending money on trips likes these...and your details are amazing and make you a one of a kind experience. I look forward to our next trip together!

Signed up for two more Tropical tours!

After two tours I think that Tropical's guides are exceptional in time spent looking for birds and success in finding a variety of birds including rare and unusual species, when I compare this experience to other tours I;ve taken and to other people's descriptions of their travels. Tropical's tours reliably include comfortable accommodations and good food. I'm signed up for two more Tropical tours. If only I had more time, I would sign up for even more.

Great!

Great tours and great guides. Also have the best coverage in the world of birding.

Comprehensive birding tours for all levels. What Makes Them Stand Out? Considerably small group size means you have more time with the guide to learn about spotting different species and how to capture them in a photograph. They focus on quality with their tours - not just the end game of spotting a new species. Tours focus on bringing you to exciting new places for rare animal sightings and stunning landscapes. Birds are the star, but they incorporate finding other incredible wildlife as well. Who Travels With Them? Birding enthusiasts interested in a small group experience led by expert guides. They have a generous loyalty program for returning customers as well! All ages will enjoy traveling with them, though birding tends to attract an older crowd. Most of their tours are moderate intensity, with either easy or easy to moderate grade walking requirements and comfortable accommodations and transportation. However, they also offer harder and more extreme tours for the more adventurous souls. Where Do They Operate? They have tours around the world, including the polar regions. Why Travel With Them? The trip price is largely all inclusive leaving you with the headspace to relax and destress, simply enjoying experience of birdwatching, hiking, photographing, and meeting other birding enthusiasts. Their guides are not only birding experts, they truly help every tour go off without a hitch.

This trip was one of my best so far

This trip was one of my best so far. My Arctic trip was well-organized, and I had all the information I needed, with a lot of extras. Communications were easy and prompt. It was easy to get insurance quotes. My questions were answered right away. I will definitely travel with Eagle-Eye again.

Trinidad and Tobago

One of the ladies on the trip was not fit physically or emotionally for the demands placed on one during a birding trip. The quality of service from some of the islanders (waitresses and cooks mainly) was wanting. Some of the locales we were taken to were uninviting (a refuse dump near a lagoon, a trail alongside shanty houses with unwelcoming inhabitants). And to top it off the birding was less than stellar. I thought that the birding guide did his best, but the trip was overall quite disappointing and expensive.

Fabulous experience!

We took our first bird watching trip to Colombia, with Cheeseman's, and LOVED it. The guides were excellent (and fun! we are still in touch on FaceBook); the accommodations and travel arrangements were perfect (clean, quiet, pleasant). We saw hundreds of new bird species, loved walking throughout the jungles of the Andes ... and also got to sample quite a bit of Colombia itself with visits to several iconic towns such as Cali and Manizales; working with local guides; meeting a local botanist at his organic farm. The food was a little drab, but that's simply the local fare in Colombia and not to be helped at small lodges way out in the middle of the forest ... but happily our guide brought along some delicious spices for those of us who like more flavor.

My old prof from DeAnza is the best. If you are interested in wildlife and have a thing for biology, this is the group for you. I went on countless whale watching trips and safari in Tanzania. Every trip was awesome.

TripFailure

We took a Polar Bear tour sponsored by Natural Habitat Adventures, a company in Boulder, from Nov. 15 to Nov. 18. I was afraid, based on my research, it was too late in the season to see bears. But the company assured me they were experts and it was not too late. I was mislead by the marketing people. The best chance to see bears is earlier in the season. We saw no bears, they had gone out on the ice, so the trip was a $13,000 failure. The company offered a big discount on a future trip but nothing else. I sent a letter requesting a partial cash refund. They never responded. My advice is find another company.

Exceeded all expectations

We went on the Secluded Botswana Safari this last July/August. We were both concerned about the trip meeting our expectations because it was number one on our bucket list. I am thrilled to report that it far exceeded our expectations. The variety and quantity of animals was absolutely amazing. Our expedition leader (i.e. "guide") was knowledgeable beyond words. He knew the answer to all questions, could track so that we experienced every animal that we wanted to see and made us feel extremely safe while still experiencing close interactions. Also traveling with us was a safari coordinator who made sure that all our needs were met at the camps. The travel, transfers, etc. were flawless. The accommodations and food at the camps were terrific. I had never "camped" before so I was a little concerned about the accommodations. If you have any concern, be sure to look at the pictures. The accommodations were lovely and comfortable. My husband and I spent years in the hotel industry so we were especially impressed by the quality of the food in the "middle of nowhere". It is hard to imagine the logistics necessary to create such an amazing experience. Wendy, our Adventure Specialist at Natural Habitat, was extremely responsive and made sure that any and all concerns were addressed. If you are considering an African safari experience, we strongly recommend Natural Habitat Adventures. It was the trip of a lifetime and beyond description. In fact, so much so, we have already booked our next adventure to Uganda and Rwanda for the Ultimate Gorilla Safari.

Great sites, poorly managed

I grew up with National Geographic so when I signed up for a NG trip I was quite excited. I spent a lot of time on a crowded bus. Some of the accommodations were two star, peeling paint, smelly rooms, poorly catered. This was an expensive trip all my girl friend and we spent 17,000 dollars for the two of us. Some of the guides were actually wrong about what they were saying about the history of Sicily, and you did not have to be an expert to realize this. There were a number of representations that tour operators made that turned out to be less than accurate. The tour group one night was having dinner in Sorento, and I asked about the wine they were serving, that is the grape and vintage, the only explanation I got was "its red". In another circumstance, the tour operator lost guests at Pompeii, and then threatened to leave them. It was a mess. I could go on, but I would cross this trip off the list.
2.0 • Disappointed

great sights. Great local guides. Impatient unpleasant photographer leader

The local guide went above and beyond. The sights were amazing. The accommodations and meals much better than expected. Lots of driving but in good cars with good drivers. The trip is advertised as being for all levels of photographers but you need to check carefully if this is true for each particular photographer. This trip for me was spoilt by attitude and behavior of photographer and being told by the photographer that if I did not know what I was doing he could not help me. I have reasonable photography experience and I thought these trip were to help all levels learn. Photographer spent most of his time with the most experienced photographers and was dismissive of those less experienced .

Aamazing experience

We just returned from an amazing experience exploring the Galapagos Islands then following up with another awesome week in Peru -- highlighted by touring the ruins of Machu Picchu. The naturalists, local guides and expedition leaders were outstanding! We'll be talking about this trip for years. Costa Rica Adventure
Costa Rica Adventure Trip Type: Group Tour
In 1999, National Geographic launched their own tour company component: National Geographic Expeditions. Since then they have expanded to offer trips on all 7 continents in over 60 destinations. Recently they partnered with G Adventures to provide even more variety to their devoted customers. What Makes National Geographic Expeditions Stand Out? With National Geographic, you can travel by small, expedition-style ships; classic train journeys; land tours; active adventures; photo tours; family-oriented trips; or private, independent expeditions based on your desires and budget. Wherever you go with National Geographic, which has been in the tour business for 15 years, you can expect doors to open: entry to research sites, archeological digs, private homes or special events. Many expeditions are accompanied by a National Geographic expert or expert team who share their knowledge and passion for a region and help make each experience enriching and unforgettable. Who Will Enjoy Traveling With National Geographic Expeditions? National Geographic is one of those special brands that has managed to successfully straddle the line between “your grandfather loves them” and “your eighteen year old sister loves them”. They cover a wide range of topics, themes, and travel styles, with the educational aspect always prevalent yet not overbearing. If you love feeling like an explorer and an adventurer when you travel, and love learning about the world from experts in a variety of fields, National Geographic is the perfect place for you. This is a company for those who want to dig deeper, like getting the inside story from multiple perspectives - historical, cultural, political, economic, scientific and more. These trips are great for families, and you can choose a private tour or a family friendly group, where hands on activities will widen your children’s worldview in innumerable special ways. National Geographic trips are also extremely popular with photographers - novice photographers will enjoy their photography-centric tours, while many dedicated hobbyists can be found on their other trip styles as well. If you’re the kind of traveler who sacrifices the space for a pair of shoes in your suitcase for another lens or photography accessory...you’ll be right at home on a trip with National Geographic Expeditions. In the same way that National Geographic magazine has always inspired and furthered conversation and discourse, so too do their trips. The spirit of learning about the world is intertwined in every itinerary, so if you consider yourself a lifelong student, you should definitely consider traveling with National Geographic Expeditions. Top Destinations National Geographic Expeditions go all around the world, and cover almost every travel style imaginable. One might think they have a favoring of the more “exotic” locations but an impressive number of United States and Europe tours are offered as well as farther reaching destinations. Regardless of where you travel, you will be sure to get off the beaten path and discover unique cultural landmarks, meet interesting people, and enjoy a sense of adventure. Small-ship expeditions, done in conjunction with Lindblad Expeditions, can take you to Antarctica, the Galapagos and points beyond. Classic train journeys include the Trans-Siberian and trains through India, Spain, and Switzerland. Active adventures might take you hiking in Bhutan or meeting Berbers in Morocco. Land tours could take you to Tanzania, Peru or the Grand Canyon. National Geographic Expeditions Travel Style The travel style with National Geographic Expeditions has an aura of old fashioned exploration with a modern twist. National Geographic Expeditions is a family friendly outfit, offering a wide range of prices and trip styles. Trips vary from mid range budget to higher. Physical level is usually light to moderate. By virtue of their longstanding presence in the world, National Geographic has a wide reaching global network to lean on for incredibly unique and authentic lodging options, knowledgeable guides, and VIP access to historical and archaeological sites. They have several broad travel styles you can choose from: Land Trips - National Geographic Land Trips are immersive explorations, often covering nature and wilderness points of interest such as national parks. They also dive into ancient cities and cultures, with trips exploring everything from monks in Burmese mountainside temples to the lives of nomadic Mongolian peoples. Most trips are around 11 days and physical level is between light and moderate, with some trips featuring moderately challenging hikes in various altitudes. River Cruises - a relatively new addition, Nat Geo now offers around 7 river cruises in Europe covering the Danube, Rhine, and Douro. Currently they also have 1 river cruise in Asia, along the Irrawaddy. These trips are typically between 7 - 11 days and feature wine tasting, history tours, and very light physical activity. Private Expeditions - If you and your family, significant other, or a few close friends are looking for a more intimate travel experience than a group of strangers, Private Expeditions are a great way to travel. These trips are customizable, and can be crafted to perfectly suit your interests and dates. Photography Trips - National Geographic has consistently featured award winning travel photography. They run regular contests for those inspired by the thousands of groundbreaking and historic photographs taken by journalists and travel photographers around the world. On National Geographic photography trips you can actually learn tricks of the trade from real-world photographers and improve your skills. Train Trips - Travel was revolutionized with the implementation of the railroad, allowing people to travel in what was then a rapid pace from destination to destination. Today this ideal has been flipped on its head, and train travel is a leisurely paced excursion allowing time to relax and appreciate the slower meandering through beautiful countrysides. National Geographic train trips cover the classics, such as the Trans-Siberian railway and the Rocky Mountain railroad. Accommodations are comfortable, around a premium level, with options to upgrade. Active Expeditions - For those who enjoy a bit more of an adrenaline pumping and active travel experience, National Geographic also has trips for you. These trips feature multiple active outings, such as kayaking, hiking, and caving. Expect to explore the outdoors covering unique natural phenomena and gaining insight into how and why the landscape has been shaped the way it has. These trips also feature cultural insights, just to a lesser extent. Family Expeditions - National Geographic is the perfect company to travel with when you have curious and adventurous youngsters eager to see the world. They will learn about other cultures, people, food, nature and wildlife from experts with “cool jobs” that might even inspire lifelong interests and perhaps influence a career. These trips are specifically designed to be hands on, allowing everyone to get involved and learn about how things work. Private Jet Trips - For a luxurious and more lengthy travel experience, nothing beats a Private Jet tour. A dedicated team will be with you, and you’ll experience all the best that National Geographic has to offer from local guides to premiere accommodation. These trips are in a very high budget range, but if it’s in your wheelhouse - it’s a superb way to travel and cover a lot of ground. Journeys - Part of a partnership with G Adventures, these trips are adventurous and immersive small group excursions imbued with the spirit of National Geographic. The best of two top travel worlds! Why Choose a Tour  With National Geographic Expeditions? When you travel with National Geographic you are participating in and contributing to a spectacular legacy. Over the years National Geographic has cultivated a reputation for being about cultural exploration, scientific advancement, and broadening perspectives. Their travel experiences are perfect for anyone wishing to get back to the roots of what adventurous, experiential travel really means and enjoy discovering the world from multiple angles. Really one of the best parts about traveling on a tour with National Geographic Expeditions is the sheer breadth of knowledge, personal and professional experience their guides bring to the table. They help provide richly detailed context, historical information, and dive into the details of local life, by showing and doing as well as explaining. You the traveler will have the true experience of getting to know a place from the inside out. If that wasn’t enough of a reason, proceeds from your trip price go towards supporting National Geographic’s ongoing nonprofit work in conservation, exploration, education, and cultural preservation.

A memorable trip

I loved this trip . The Tucano is a great little ship, and if the weather's good you can eat out on the top deck and watch the river and rain forest go by. The guides were terrific -- they knew the area well, and could tell you about the use of medicinal plants or even take you piranha fishing. There were plenty of opportunities to go on shore and occasionally we'd visit an isolated village. My only disappointment was that it's hard to spot wildlife, though we did see some of the famous pink dolphins, heard plenty of howler monkeys, and, at night, spotted some sloths in the tree by spotlight.

Highly recommended!

We're a group of seven Norwegians staying in Kampala for a month. We got a weekend off and on really short notice Miriam managed to arrange an amazing 2 days/1 night trip to Murchison falls NP for us. We got picked up at our door and from there everything was perfectly planned and professionally executed. Our guide was a good and safe driver, and very knowledgeable about the park, the animals and the birds there. We were lucky enough to see a leopard dozing in a tree and a pride of lions eating a buffalo for breakfast - just because he knew just when and where to look. On our short trip Kagera safari managed to squeeze in: - a stroll around the top of the waterfall - a boat trip to see hippos, crocodiles and the bottom of the waterfall - two game drives to see some stunning scenery, giraffes, elephants, warthogs and countless other animals - and a traditional dance performance at our beautiful lodge. All this at a good price. Highly recommended!

Founded in 2012 by Miriam Kyasiimire, Kagera offers in depth, locally run safaris and gorilla treks in Uganda and Rwanda. What Makes Them Stand Out? They add a community touch to all their safaris. Travelers have the opportunity to visit the community on whatever safari they are on, whether gorilla trekking safari, wildlife or birding tour. Cars are safari vans and safari landcruisers which typically carry a maximum of 7 people, for each person to have access to a window. If the group is bigger they use more vehicles or take a coaster bus if they want to travel in one vehicle. Who Travels With Them? Customers are usually individual travelers, groups, or families; age ranges anything from 5 years to 70 years. The activity levels differ because some people engage in activities like gorilla trekking which is hectic whereas others stick to only game drives in national park. Most of the tours fall in the category of mid range pricing. Where Do They Operate? Uganda and Rwanda How Does it Work? Safari cars via road transport. They also arrange internal flights to especially Kidepo valley and Bwindi impenetrable national parks in Uganda. In Rwanda there are opportunities for helicopter rides. Why Travel With Them? They are a small independent and local agency that pays special attention to details. They are passionate about responsible tourism and work to provide opportunities for the local communities they work with to earn from tourism. They offer suggested itineraries, but encourage you to tweak for your exact preferences.

Super fun! First time here with our 1 year old son and he enjoyed it and it even made us feel like kids again since we were able to join him in the play area! Food was ok for the price. Surprised that the pizza tasted better than some cheap pizza shops. But overall we would definitely make the trip back to this place.

THANK YOU!!!

We were extremely happy with how each and every minor/major logistics were taken care of during our entire trip to Peru. Starting from the planning phase, Andrew and Garvey of Lost World were with us revising the itinerary multiple times until it met with our comfort level. This was our very first time of hiring a professional travel agency for organizing our vacation at the international location, so you can imagine the degree of anxiety we had about our trip at the beginning. Andrew kept assuring us that you will know as soon as you reach there that you are in good hands. That turned out to be true word-by-word. At every airport we were met with someone who was assigned to take us to the hotels, and each time the individual left only after making sure that we were all set. Throughout our trip we always find the people attending us (the guides, transfer and drivers) very prompt, professional and courteous. One problem we experienced though that many a times the individuals assigned to us were not very proficient in English. This was quite limiting but nevertheless was countered with the help of google translator and very enthusiastic personnel who were genuinely eager to help. The guides (Natalie in Sacred valley and Cusco; Sergio at the Matchu Pitchu) who went with us to various excursion tours were knowledgeable, entertaining and very very friendly. The cars were in really great conditions, roomy and very clean - in fact one of the drivers used to keep the black synthetic floors spotless by wiping our dusty footprints every single time we stepped out. The location of each hotel was prime, which was truly important for us particularly when we were on tight schedule and has no clue about the orientation of touristy hot spots and down town plazas. Perhaps this is unique to the south american setting, but we struggled a little with the 'Vouchers' - something that you paid for that does not go in to the system automatically when you check-in at the hotels. However, our escorts/hotel front desk people were very much aware of it and they helped us almost all of those time. All of the city tour tickets were booked and given to us as soon as we landed in Peru. I want to mention that we were moved by Carlos, our transfer guy in Cusco, who went over on each single thing included in our itinerary while we were driving from the airport to the hotel on our first day. He did that so sincerely while also telling us about the people/history and geography of Peru. I also remember, he wanted to accompany us up to the Vistadome train, but was stopped at the gate (and desperately argued with them to let him do that). Our food restrictions were varied -from nothing to vegan- it was addressed meticulously at the lodge in Amazon Forests, without us reminding them about it. Other places already had appropriate options in their menus. Our itinerary was not overwhelmingly busy - it had some leisure times and times for shopping or just walking around on our own carefully planted, which we liked the most. At one point, we needed to cancel one of the excursion while there at Matchu Pitchu pretty late in the night (due to some health issues; we were supposed to be at the bus stop terribly early AM), we reached out to the emergency contact number of Lost World and they promptly and rapidly helped us with it. We can go on and on to tell you how much we enjoyed the excellent services provided by Lost World - it only enhanced our appreciation of Peru in its entirety. Thank you so much, we appreciate all your help and look forward to go on to the next vacation with you.

An amazing experience thanks to Ker and Downey

My Husband and I usually book our own holidays but not knowing enough about travelling in Africa we thought we could use some help organizing our tour. We asked Ker and Downey to put together a tour, giving them an outline of what we wanted to see and do in a tight time frame. What they suggested and came up with was fantastic and just what we asked for. The accommodation was lovely, the transfers on time, the game watching terrific and everything was just perfect. With good email communication from Razaan, our personal concierge, they held our hands all they way, and we were so pleased we booked with them.

An unforgettable trip to Tanzania thanks to Ker & Downey

Although being used to organising our travels on our own, for this trip to Tanzania we decided to engage Ker & Downey as we wanted everything to be perfect. From the beginning we felt in excellent hands with Rory. He worked everything together making us quickly an exciting proposal fit in with our budget. Until the moment we actually started the trip, he answered always immediately and had an immense patience with all our tiny questions. The team of Ker & Downey managed to not only fulfil our very high expectations but even exceeded them. We had a fantastic experience, wonderful in every way: all the camps, their staff, the food, the car and its equipment, the parks, the nature, the animals, even the weather with only some short refreshing rains, really everything was perfect. Ker & Downey organised everything with no problem, booking some wonderful accommodations and allowing us to fully enjoy our trip. Our guide David understood immediately our desire to be away from the crowds and with his kindness and calm, his great respect for nature and its wildlife, he made our journey an unique and amazing experience. He made it possible that most of the time we really were on our own, having the feeling that we were in Paradise on Earth with only animals around us. His enormous knowledge about all kind of animals and their habitat has enriched the experience even more. We thank all those involved for setting up such an awesome trip and recommend Ker & Downey without any doubt!

Viaje Al Fin Del Mundo

I was planning to travel to Patagonia for years but due to heavy work schedule, I had no chance to realize this Patagonia trip until my retirement. I found Across Argentina Travel Agency from internet and a young hard working man Sebastian Southwell worked very hard to fix an itinerary. He offered me a different payment plan that made me pay easily. When I arrived at Buenos Aires, Ms Carolina Simonian took care of me and she always got in touch with me during my 16 days of travel all over Patagonia. Regarding my trip, I was highly satisfied with the selection of Point of Interest, hotels selected were very comfortable and all showed me a high degree of hospitality. Local tours I participated were selected carefully, but I like to point out one point regarding with local tours, guides were good but they were giving information in Spanish longer than English then English speaking guests needed to ask questions to clarify subjects, this to be corrected. As a final words Across Argentina and their talented employees, Carolina and Sebastian made this trip ONCE IN A LIFETIME. I would like to thank Across Argentina and employees so much

Great trip organised by the team!

Great trip organised by the team! From the first moment, the team has been very responsive to our emails and the way the tour was setup exceeded our expectations. The help from the experience manager was very crucial in many circumstances (best example was that she organised to have a purse delivered from Argentina to Chile!!). All in all totally recommend Across South America for your next trip to Latin America!

Across South America were first class

Across South America were first class as they really listened to what we wanted and put together a truly wonderful trip across Argentina and Chile. This was no mean feat as our ‘wants’ included tango lessons. hiking. fly fishing and kayaking. The accommodation found for us was just perfect and we had the most amazing time. It was just so relaxing to know that everything was being handled for us.

I travelled to Namibia in the dry season (October). The weather was very, very hot on a couple of days the temp reached 100+. The schedule was gruelling - up 05:00/06:00 every morning but I enjoyed every minute of it. Every day brought a new experience. There were a couple of long travel days but the truck was reasonably comfortable, stocked with cold drinks and guide books plus plenty of photo/toiler stops along the way.
The highlights of the trip for me were Etosha National Park, Carnivore Cheetah reserve and climbing Dune 45. The first camp in Etosha had a fabulous watering hole which attracted a variety of animals. It was very addictive watching the coming and goings of the animals!! At the Cheetah reserve we managed to get within a distance of 20ft from the Cheetahs what a fabulous experience.

Our group leader was Ronney, he was a very experienced guide and full of enthusiasm. The cook Jonah prepared a variety of great food for every meal and of course not to forget Ruben who erected/dismantled our tents every time we moved to another site. All great guys. Jonah even managed to cook a lovely meal one evening during a thunder storm on the Waterburg Plateau.

Take high factor sun cream and even higher factor for face and neck. I only took South African Rand as it is widely accepted in Namibia. If you are a vegetarian then there is not much choice on the menu when eating out. Bring some mixed nuts/seeds as I did. The electricity is unique to Sth Africa/Namibia but our truck had a variety of extension leads including once with an English plug. I'd no problems charging batteries/phone.

I was very impressed by Namibia. Campers are certainly very well catered for. Almost all of the camp sites had hot water, flush toilets, toilet rolls and even public toilets on the whole were very clean. Supermarkets were well stocked. The night game in Etosha was fab as the moon was shining and we saw a lot of drama at one watering hole. It is definitely the place to buy tanzanite jewellery. Hiking boots are not a necessity; a pair of trainers & a pair of sandals are all the foot ware you need. I took a 3/4 season sleeping bag and most nights ended up sleeping in the liner instead. A couple of evenings did need to wear a fleece. If planning on taking a Dolphin cruise out of Walvis Bay wrap up well as it is freezing!!
It was a fabulous trip and enjoyed every minute of it. Don't hesitate - go for it!!

It was a much older crowd what I was expecting, but turned out exactly what I wanted. I am a nature photographer and the tours were just excellent for me being to be able to take my time with photographing the wild life and not be rushed with a young group of people who are running through the rainforests. I was amazed how many beautiful animals I could photograph in their natural habitat in only 8 days, I actually could publish a book, what you can view here: http://www.blurb.com/b/4665371-the-jungle-book

I also learnt that older people are much more fun and great to travel with! I had a blast with them!

Let's face it, traveling with a family of 5 (children aged 14, 12, & 7) from Boston to Tanzania. It was a vacation of a lifetime, and not one where we could afford complications and hassle. With that in mind, I can tell you that the Alaitol Safaris people met my expectations and produced a trip that my family will never forget. This itinerary put my family in places where we were free to enjoy the animals and culture without worry. We had several items on our wildlife checklist that we could focus on, knowing that the trip's particulars were taken care of. The transfers were seamless and the preparations were clearly made to ensure that the tour company added value to the trip. By the time we came back to Boston, we made a lifetime of memories and learned quite a bit while in Tanzania. Asante sana (thank you), Alaitol Safaris. You helped make our trip special.

We booked our safari through Ker & Downey and we have been super impressed with the most perfect trip! We travelled to Botswana Linyanti region. It truly felt like an exclusive game viewing experience in absolute luxury. The staff were 5* and made us feel immediately at home. Biggest tip is spending a sunrise or sunset in their incredibly picturesque pool. Food matched the incredible surroundings and one of the most magical places we have ever stayed. Really wish we there still!

What a great trip! Warm people, fantastic ship, beautiful animals, great weather, wonderful nature, very friendly crew/staff.... This was a very special experience. Plenty of time to do whatever you want, take marvellous pictures, well experienced staff and vegan menus on demand.

I loved the zodiac trips, landings, guides and there was a wedding as well! I enjoyed it very much from beginning to end and if the opportunity arises I will definitely join the MV Plancius again! Thanks to all!

A great trip showing the best of Namibia in just 2 weeks. The landscape is amazing and so different in each location.
The animals are abundant and everywhere - watching at the camp waterholes is just brilliant - not knowing what might arrive next. Everyday is different and everything spectacular.
Seeing 2 rhino bringing there young to the waterhole one was still suckling.
Watching & listening to a lion lap water whilst a rhino slurped at the other side of a waterhole - then getting a full blown lion roaring session.
The cessna flight back over the areas just visited is well worth the cost - it puts the vastness of everything in perspective and shows just how little is not sand!

Washing can be done for you at the lodge in Swakopmond - fixed price for a basket load.
All the toilets were good with paper - but it is single ply and rough...keep all your N$1 coins as you need these for the service station loos.
Take a water bottle as the water is drinkable everywhere - although a bit yucky at Brandberg.
Good binoculars make a huge difference to seeing all the extra creatures at the waterholes.
Camping mats provided are good thick ones - nothing extra needed.
It is VERY cold after dark in July so take lots of layers.
The Cessna flight from Swakopmond is brilliant but you will need to book it asap as they only take out 5 people at a go. Also the restaurants need booking - we were lucky and got tables but it was only for 2 people.

Even if you think you've 'done Africa' book it.

Choosing a Birding Tour Company

When selecting a tour company for your next birding venture, it’s important to determine what you want to get out of your trip. Are you looking for a trip that is 100% focused on birding - where you can improve your spotting and photography skills? Or are you hoping for a slightly more well rounded travel experience, with a day or two dedicated to birding activities?

Most birding tour companies will satisfy the first kind of traveler nicely - and are perfectly open to novice birders and experienced birders. There is a strong sense of camaraderie within the birding community, and travelers often make lifelong friends on tours.

But there is also a learning curve - and while the support network is strong, birding specific tours are definitely best suited to those who want to learn about and talk birding each day. Also remember that most birding tour companies will be smaller groups - allowing for more opportunities to view the animals and access more remote locations.

If you are looking to just get your feet wet with birding, but also other wildlife spotting and photography, a nature tour or safari that features expert wildlife guides and photographers might be a better fit.
