Myself, I've enjoyed everything from guided travel to independently planned multi-day backpacking trips in the wildnerness.
In my youth I tended to prefer choosing my own adventure and enjoying the freedom that comes with being spontaneous. As I got older, the guided tour route became more attractive. I still loved being active but wanted a few more ducks in a row before hitting the road.
On my honeymoon, we combined a few different travel styles. We used a local travel expert and guide for some portions of the trip, and a Yangtze river cruise, which allowed us to enjoy being in once place and watch the world go by in comfort.
