Editor’s Take
Most trip reviews tend to focus on some or all of these 5 key areas, not all of which may be relevant to you: the tour guide, travel company, service level, country or countries traveled in, and the trip itinerary.
Remember, just because you see a 1 star review doesn’t necessarily mean that person disliked the country.
When reading Columbia River Cruise reviews, it’s important to remember that not all river cruises around the world are the same. If you’re used to European river cruises for example, you may be surprised at the casual tone on board a river cruise in the United States.
Of course casual doesn’t mean to imply a lower standard of service - however if a traveler had certain expectations from previous river cruising experience, this may lead to a bad review. If you are looking for comfort and ease, without the stiffness that can sometimes come with a river cruise in Europe, then you won’t be disappointed.
Additionally, Columbia River cruises are very much about enjoying the outdoors. Port excursions involve hikes and walks, taking in the nature and spectacular views over the river. Nothing is terribly strenuous, but you should be prepared for mainly nature and wildlife themed excursions.
It’s also important to note that most Columbia River cruises focus heavily on the journey of Lewis & Clark. Their presence is felt throughout the tourist attractions of the Pacific Northwest - so don’t be surprised if you hear about them every day along your cruise!
