What travelers are saying

"This trip is unbelievably fantastic. Two of the best rides of my life, were on this tour. The guides were very good and this was just the start, when we met them, at the hotel in Cortina. Cortina was the site of the 1956 Olympics, and is a small pretty village. Nothing was open the two nights we were there, so probably bad timing. Hotel was a typical ski village hotel, good Italian/German food, and very comfortable. Second day of biking was up an old railroad spur that is now a ski trail about 15-20 K up to a mountain pass called Cimabanche Pass, which is beautiful. We rode up in a snow storm, then rain, then finally clear skies. This was the number two best ride of my life. Starting out from the hotel in Cortina, up the old spur, through single track bike trails, past babbling brooks, up to this fabulous mountain pass. This is now where the fun starts. Mostly downhill on paved roads very little traffic, at good speeds, through the most spectacular valleys you would ever see on a bike ride. Breathtaking. It had to end back at the hotel for a big dinner. The best ride of my life was the last biking day out of Merano. We were bused up 1500 K, about 85-90 miles to Lake Resia, high up in the Dolomites, then rode around the lake, down, back to Merano. High mountain peaks, many valleys, small towns, many grape growing farms, scenery, the best, and cool brisk weather. This was truly a great bike tour, one I will never forget. The trip is rated easy, but maybe easy/moderate is closer. The Hotel in Merano is excellent, middle of old town, modern, has a thermal bath, rooms were very good. The town of Merano is a must see if in the area, small, beneath the high mountains of the Dolomites, good restaurants, lots of tourists."

What travelers are saying

"The trip was well laid out. Tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable. The only complaint is some of our travel documents that were sent out were not in English. If your sending documents out correspondence should be in both the native language and the language of the people the correspondence to. Other than that a great first time experience."

What travelers are saying

"My wife and I did the six day Lofoten Islands tour offered by 50 Degrees North. The tour is simple, they provided us a rental car, accommodations for two nights each at three Rorbuer hotels scattered across the islands, and a couple of scheduled day tours. Most of the time, we were on our own to see the islands at our own pace. The islands are stunningly beautiful, and the tour planning made our travels hassle free. They even scheduled lunch for us at an organic goat farm, which may sound a little strange for a vacation like this, but that is only because you haven't tasted the cheese. (Best lunch ever!) At our request, they altered the tour slightly so that we could begin the tour in Svolvaer and end it six days later at the airport in Leknes. We can't imagine a more complete tour of the islands in six short days."

Do Most Denmark Tours Include Copenhagen?

Almost every Denmark tour includes Copenhagen! Copenhagen is such an important part of Denmark that it is simply too significant to leave out of a tour. Not only is Copenhagen the capital of Denmark, but it is its most popular tourist attraction and holds the most popular activities (Tivoli Gardens, Little Mermaid statue, etc.) of anywhere else in Denmark.

Key Dutch Phrases You Should Know

If your first language is English and you do not speak any Dutch then do not fret, the Danes begin learning English as early as 6 years old and almost all high level textbooks at university are in English.

When you visit Copenhagen, you’ll find that shops and rock bands have English names because the Danes think they sound awesome. However, if you would like to make an effort to learn some phrases in Dutch due to your eagerness to makes foreign friends, or you simply don’t want to stand at the cafes register smiling like a dork when a cashier gives a Danish greeting and you have no clue what they said, then here are  some phrases that will definitely come in handy on your travels in Demark:

  • Hallo ("hah- low") - Hello
  • Goedemorgen ("khoo-duh-more-khen") - Good morning
  • Goedenavond ("khoo-dun-ah- fohnt") - Good evening
  • Hoe gaat het? (“hoo-khaht-ut”) - How are you? (informal)
  • Hoe heet je? (“hoo-hayt-yuh”) - What's your name? (informal)
  • Alstublieft (“ahlst-ew-bleeft”) - Please
  • Dank u wel (“dahnk-ew-vehl”) - Thank you
  • Ja / Nee(“yah / nay”) - Yes / No
  • Spreek je Engels? (“sprayk yuh ehng-uhls”) - Do you speak English?
  • Wat kost het? (“vat kohst ut”) - How much is it?
  • Dag ("dakh") - Bye
  • Tot straks (“Toht-straks”) - See you later (in the same day)
  • Dank je wel ("dahnk-yuh-vel") - Thank you very much (informal)

We strongly encourage you to memorize these phrases. It will make traveling through Copenhagen a lot easier and a lot more fun! F

What is the Weather Like in Copenhagen?

Weather in Copenhagen varies with mildly warm summers and extremely cold and windy winters. Summers bring in festivals and crowds of people flood the streets whereas winters send everyone into hibernation and the city shuts down early.

Although, December is peak holiday season when the streets will be packed with Danes and travelers alike flaunting their santa and elf attire. If you're not big on crowds, you can always visit Copenhagen during spring time when the weather is slightly colder than summer, but much warmer than winter and less people are roaming.

Summers usually range in the mid 60s where winters in Denmark drop to high 30s. No matter what time of year you are visiting, always be prepared with warm clothes because the weather here can fluctuate greatly.
