If your first language is English and you do not speak any Dutch then do not fret, the Danes begin learning English as early as 6 years old and almost all high level textbooks at university are in English.

However, if you would like to make an effort to learn some phrases in Dutch due to your eagerness to makes foreign friends, or you simply don’t want to stand at the cafes register smiling like a dork when a cashier gives a Danish greeting and you have no clue what they said, then here are some phrases that will definitely come in handy on your travels in Demark:
