What travelers are saying
"We were looking at several guided tours for Japan, and finally, we decided to take this tour because we have done several Trafalgar tours before and the itinerary of this tour was amazing.
It is a 13-day tour but we went 3-days in advance of the start of the tour to see and visit several Tokyo attractions such as the Hie and Meiji Shrine, Tokyo Govt building, Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo Imperial Palace, The Tokyo National Museum and the Western Arts museum at Ueno (only museum in Japan with a Vermeer painting), Tokyo Tower, Sky Tree, Shinjuku Gyoen Garden, Ginza shopping, etc. We stayed in the Hotel New Otani Garden Tower which is located centrally and 5 Tokyo subway lines are available at Akasuka-Mitzsuka subway station for travel within a 4-minute walk from the hotel.
All hotels that Trafalgar selected were very good and the food choices - including the vegetarian options for us were remarkable. We had 27 people in our group and everyone was very nice - people were from the U.S., Australia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
This tour gave us some remarkable and memorable experiences that we will cherish forever - such as seeing and visiting Mount Fuji, Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Kanazawa, Kotohira, Awaji, and Miyajima Islands. We enjoyed the Sushi making experience - the chef was humorous and the food was fabulous for us vegetarians, also the washi-making experience, the visiting Samurai houses in Kanazawa, Ryokan, and Kyoto Gion district tour, and two bullet train rides from Kanazawa to Kyoto and Hiroshima to Osaka.
We live in Washington DC and we have cherry blossom trees in our yard and in the tidal basin the Washington so we were used to the Cherry blossoms, but we wanted to see the cherry blossoms in Japan so we selected this tour and the timing in late March. We booked the tour almost a year in advance but the cherry blossoms peak did not happen until we were in Osaka. There were some hiccups in the tour such as our Tour Director got injured and had to leave the tour a few days earlier, but Trafalagar was able to manage to substitute the local guides or replacement tour guides until the end of the tour.
We selected this tour for Cherry Blossoms, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Mount Fuji and Kyoto.
The Japanese people and society are very polite and the Tokyo Subway system is a man-made top 10 wonder in the 21st century and you have to experience it. We loved this tour and we will come back to Japan sometime in the future to visit some of the National Parks in Japan."
