What travelers are saying

"I have travelled with ROW numerous times, including four trips on the Rogue River. Every trip has been wonderful and every person associated with ROW has been nice, knowledgeable, professional and fun. The Rogue is a great river and the trip is an excellent one for two people or a large group—and I have done both. I’ve taken both of my kids, one time each, and have organized groups of colleagues twice; most recently in 2019 when 14 of us gathered. The guides at ROW are great and help to make the trip very enjoyable. The scenery, lodging and the wonderful outdoors including warm air and refreshing water, make for a wonderful escape from the everyday routine. The fact that this trip offers beds and indoor plumbing is a nice benefit and allows those who have an aversion to camping a chance to see the wilderness. I have recommended ROW and the Rogue trip more times than I can count and my group has already reserved our trip for 2021. What are you waiting for?"

What travelers are saying

"It's hard to describe how lucky we are to have been able to work with Stephanie in planning our honeymoon to Japan. From the very beginning, Stephanie was friendly, flexible, and an absolute wealth of knowledge. We had several meetings with her leading up to our trip to come up with the perfect itinerary. Throughout this, Stephanie was mindful of our budget, without sacrificing anything. During our trip, Audley was available at all hours to help with anything and everything which was such a relief to know we had that resource available to us. I truly cannot imagine having planned this trip without all of Stephanie's guidance and knowledge- and cannot imagine taking another big trip like this without the help of Audley. Thank you again!"

What travelers are saying

"Kensington Tours is a vendor with nasty, pushy old school sales tactics and sketchy opaque pricing to get you fleeced in my opinion, read on ! Kensington Tours pre-charged my Amex Centurian card a staggering $85,985.00. for 6 nights without international airfares in one cost-opaque invoice. This consisted of a simple assembly of 9 hotel room nights in 3 locations, 6 in-country economy flights, 3 airport pickup/drop offs, a 2 day 'tour' and a 1-day expedition on a small boat. It was so bad we declined the 2nd tour day and boat trip. The full retail cost of the trip, which would include profits to Kensington Tours, is estimated at $30,140.47 versus their invoice of $ 85,985.00. That is a staggering overcharge of $54,859.43. see details below. The experience should have been amazing for this amount of money, but the cost was so egregious for the average to low quality of the tours, flights, boat, and cheap or kerb-side restaurants and food establishments I decided to assemble the full retail price for these activities by speaking directly with all the major vendors. These are mostly time-specific cost comparisons on the days we were there. Both hotel general managers informed me the costs were about the same as on the previous days for the day extensions they quoted. i.e. peak season pricing. The full retail costs I've assembled would include any tour outfits profits on the hotel, airfare and lunch as they buy wholesale. It should be a close season-specific estimate. This was verified by a call from Kensington Tours Director of Asia sales who confirmed she couldn't reveal room prices because they have contracts with the hotels for discounts over retail. Kensington Tours provided near zero value, I also didn't get the typical additional hotel $ benefits, comped amenities and prestige of direct Centurion bookings, instead the reservations showed as a lowly Kensington Tours operator booking. Kensington Tours unilaterally declares their sales brochure is a de facto contract agreement without either attaching the contract doc to my knowledge or getting a counter signature, i.e. it's not a contract and would never hold up. They attempt to hide behind 'private discount contracts' with hotels and insinuated to me costs were 3x reality The comped me back $30,000.00 because I have some leverage, it should have been $55,000.00. I'm still considering whether to file a quick suit, they'll eat at least the balance defending against me in attorney fees. I'll see if I can be bothered to do that. I probably will, to let others know to be careful and not use an outfit like this. Hopefully save folks their hard earned money. My bottom line, Kensington Tours is a disgrace run the other way. Dubrovnik Tour Selection Trips

  • Dubrovnik can be very warm, even during the spring and fall, picking the right time of year to visit is essential.
  • Dubrovnik isn’t only about the old town, making sure you have some free days to explore more is highly encouraged.
  • If you wish to include Dubrovnik on a broader Croatian trip, most tours of the country include a stop in the city.
  • Dubrovnik has a rich historical and cultural past, working in local experiences and tour guides will help you really learn about the city.

Additional details

Is Dubrovnik Included on Most Croatia Tours?

Yes, Dubrovnik is almost always included on tours to Croatia. Sitting in a prime location on the southern tip of the Dalmatian Coast, Dubrovnik has become a top cruise and tour destination in the last 15 years.

The city’s rich cultural past as a former stronghold for the Republic of Ragusa from the 14th century to the 19th century has given the city its romantic and medieval draw. Tour companies include Dubrovnik in their itineraries not only because of the its location and history, but also because unique story in Croatia’s past.

Dubrovnik is also included in guided tours because the city was used for filming the TV show Game of Thrones. With the creation of the show, Dubrovnik has shot up the destination ladder with fans of the show flocking to see where their favorite scenes were filmed.

Dubrovnik Weather

Dubrovnik has one of the best climates to visit throughout the year. With its location next to the Adriatic Sea, the city maintains a typical Mediterranean climate. Almost half of the year the city sees clear skies with bright sunshine.

During the spring and fall, the weather is warm, but not uncomfortable. You are still able to go kayaking in the bay or lay out on the beaches. The nights do get a little bit cooler so it’s a good idea to include an extra layer if you are heading out into the city for dinner.

The summer months are the busiest and the hottest. During the summer, Dubrovnik can get into the upper 80s with very little cloud cover. While 85 doesn’t seem too warm, with Dubrovnik’s location the sun and temperature feels much warmer because there is typically very little clouds and the city is farther south.

The winters in Dubrovnik are cooler and wetter. However, the average temperature is in the mid-50s. While the city doesn’t see normally see snow, they can occassionaly get a small amount, but it is usually rainy.

Is Dubrovnik Safe?

Yes, Dubrovnik is very safe. Conflict ended in Croatia in 1995 after the War of Independence and the fall of Yugoslavia. Since then, there has been no major conflicts or issues in Dubrovnik or Croatia.

However, with Dubrovnik becoming a top tourist destination, visitors should remember to safeguard their belongings. Pickpocketing or tour scams can happen. Always be aware of where your purse or wallet is. Also, if you are going on a tour or looking for a tour guide, make sure to do some research before you sign up.

Getting Around Dubrovnik

If you are staying in the Old Town, it is very easy to get around the city. The Old Town of Dubrovnik is smaller than you think. The length of the city walls that surround the town only total over 6,000 feet.

While the Old Town is small, there are many side streets and alleyways you may get turned around in. Just remember that the walls completely surround you and if you need to get back to the main road, just head for the center of the city down the stairs.

If you are staying outside of the Old Town, Dubrovnik has a large and efficient bus system. One of the main stops in the city is at Pile Gate, the main entrance to the Old Town. All of the lines run through this stop making it easy to get from your hotel to the Old Town or surrounding beaches.

For those who are on Croatia guided tours or cruises, your tour company will usually transport you from your hotel or ship by charter bus. The buses stop right outside of Pile Gate so you can explore the city.
