Gjirokaster Itineraries

This trip has a very busy itinerary (moving every night) which allowed us to see a lot within a short time. The mountainous sceneries were breath taking and the cities were varied and interesting. The 1 star off is mostly for mistake made by Explore pre-trip and a bout of food poisoning that everyone on the trip (all 15 of us!) suffered after a lunch.

The variety of things that we saw and did - and the feeling that we really got to start to understand a bit more about the country.

Suggest to extend to 14 days to allow more free time to explore.

Excellent Guide and good driver!

Do consider better grade of hotels with higher standard of cleanliness. Several we stayed at had strong sewage odor, broken fixtures, no TV reception, bugs, etc.

Overall, the tour was a good value if one is fine with lower grade of lodging facilities.

Fascinating country with an unusual history and beautiful natural scenery. Alfred our guide was exceptional: passionate about Albania past and present and very warm and funny too. The people in Albania are so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in history. Whilst not every hotel was excellent I was really impressed with the tourist infrastructure and opportunities to eat well at very reasonable prices. Great group too who made it very enjoyable despite a shared food poisoning incident early on in the trip!
