Fantastic

Loved, loved, loved our "South & Sicily" tour! Fantastic, knowledgeable and informative professional guide (Lorenza). My only regret is that my trip is over! Also, I would have liked to have stayed another day/night in beautiful Taormina. Thank you Perillo for taking care of everything for us resulting in a trip of a lifetime that we shall never forget!! We had a wonderful time.

Wonderful Experience

Perillo’s Hawaii was our first group tour vacation. It turned out to be a wonderful experience. Travel arrangements, food and hotels were excellent! Everything is organized and worry-free. They made everything easy - just show up and enjoy. There was a good balance between activities and free time. There was also the flexibility to follow tour activities or go off on your own with our tour guide helping in setting up additional activities if asked. We didn't have to worry about a thing except being on time. It made our anniversary a lot more fun and relaxing because we didn't have to spend the time planning and figuring out what we wanted to do. We also met several wonderful people on the tour, exchanged stories and laughs during the tour, as well as contact information. Bert, our guide, was very knowledgeable, informative, funny and engaging individual. His knowledge of Hawaii along with a great sense of humor made the trip fun, enjoyable and a lot more interesting. Bert entertained us with stories about the island and lessons in the Hawaiian history and language. He was very helpful and made us feel that we have been friends for years. Bert, assisted by Ester, insures that your rooms, bags, flights, tours, activities, plus all meals run flawlessly. We never realized we had a cousin Bert in Hawaii but were happy to find out we are all on the same family tree; “All Right Family, we are walking”. “Mahalo” to Bert, Ester and the Perrillo Team.

Never again! Perillo is sliding downward quickly.

No on-site management. The staff has no supervision. Hotel is moldering and crumbling. Serious personal safety issues of several kinds. Doors are left unlocked all night, my room door bolt was broken. I had some very unsettling experiences in a hotel and Perillo tried to ignore me and make me go away. Extremely inept, defensive, inexperienced and unprofessional staff.

Founded in 1945, and headquartered in New Jersey, Perillo was a pioneering company in the guided travel industry.  What Makes Perillo Stand Out? Well-balanced itineraries Generous and satisfying meals First-rate hotels Perillo has been a name in the tourism industry since the 1940s, known for operating tours of Italy. Today Italy is still their main focus, though they have expanded to offer limited departures in Hawaii, Greece, and Costa Rica. They provide well thought out and classic itineraries, showcasing the traditional sights, nicely augmented with local insider knowledge. Perillo is a classic tour company, offering several trip options including custom tours, destination weddings, and traditional escorted group trips. On the trip, you’ll benefit from their extensive experience and destination knowledge.   They have a dedicated Italy brand, “Perillo Italy Tours”, which expands on their long legacy providing Italy guided experiences, as well as a “Learning Journeys” brand. Their learning journeys travel to many more destinations, and cover a very wide range of interests, including certification classes for certain skills. Who Will Enjoy Traveling With Perillo? Older travelers  Solo female travelers Those interested in classic, custom, and themed tours All ages are welcome on Perillo tours, however their type of travel may be more enjoyed by older travelers looking for a calm, fully managed tour. Perillo is a bit old fashioned. They do one thing and do it well, and haven’t changed much in the 60 years that they’ve been around. So if you’re looking for a traditional guided tour, busy but not with too many bells and whistles, Perillo is a great choice. One unique offering through Perillo is their faith-based journeys. This was one of the first types of tours designed by Perillo. You can visit Greece and the Holy Land, as well as several important religious destinations in Italy. For travelers seeking an authentic religious-themed travel experience Perillo’s extensive experience leading and planning these kinds of tours is nearly unmatched. Custom trip options are also available through Perillo. These custom group experiences cover a wide range of interests including yoga / health and wellness retreats, festivals, and learning tours geared toward universities. If you’re planning a destination wedding or honeymoon they have services dedicated to this as well. Their Learning Journeys are perfect for solo female travelers and enthusiastic life learnings passionate about learning new skills, languages, or diving deeper into the history of a certain destination and culture. Top Destinations Perillo is known for, and primarily focuses on, Italy tours. Here their breadth of knowledge is impressive as they began operating Italy tour packages in 1945. Perillo Italy tours cover the whole country, including Sicily, with special emphasis on classic sights and local eats. Perillo also offers escorted tours in Hawaii, Greece, and Costa Rica. Their “Learning Tours,” focus on niche educational travel and classes around the world, including Africa & the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Perillo Travel Style Tried and true is Perillo’s style. They may have the most flashiest or easily navigable website out there, or the most unique itineraries, but they know guided tours, they know Italy, and they stick with the classics. Hotels, meals, and activities have been personally vetted and experienced by the founder, and they have everything down to a science. Itineraries are between 9-10 days on average, often focusing on cuisine and historical sights. Groups tend to be between 20 and 40 people, and they often arrange private departures for large groups such as families or wedding parties. Special interest tours are another popular kind of itinerary offered through Perillo. In Italy, they offer a number of golf tours, faith-based tours, and culinary tours. Learning tours often focus on cooking, as well as art and history, science, and wildlife. Why Choose a Tour With Perillo? For an experience in Italy like no other, Perillo operates tours from the major cities to the charming hill towns off the beaten path. Their itineraries are carefully crafted for a thoughtful balance of sightseeing, free time, optional activities, and relaxation. They are not the flashiest of tour companys, and their website is somewhat difficult to navigate to find all the options available - of which there are a good number. But they certainly have laurels to rest on given their extensive background and long historic legacy in guided tourism.

Best of China 2019

The tour guide Hubert was wonderful, very detailed oriented and organized. And had such an extensive knowledge of all the cities and locations we went to. Truly excellent! Personalized care and helpfulness was definitely offered throughout, very nice touch to the trip. Overall a great trip, but some considerations below: The hotel in Beijing – Novotel Peace and the hotel in Chengdu – Crowne Plaza were way below standard – maybe a rating of 2 stars. They were dirty, dark, stained and hot without air circulating in the rooms. After extensive days with waking up early and returning late, you just want to rest in a clean environment with cool air. I would never stay hotels like these. This trip is not for people who cannot handle extensive walking and climbing. Trafalgar lists this as from 5 to 99 years old. Not possible. There were days we did 10 miles of walking, just a caution for anyone considering. We had someone in our tour that was 82 years old and we all took turns taking care of him. Some aspects of the itinerary could be different, but think that is all based on personal preference; however my fellow travelers did feel the same way. The cruise down the Yangtze River was just ‘ok’, time could have been spent better elsewhere. Like Xian, truly amazing city but too short a time. NOTE: Some were charged single supplement, others were not ... I paid for the single supplement and was none too happy about that! Also note that you need to budget for the optional tours that are not included.

Trafalgar is a name many seasoned travelers will recognize. A branch of the Travel Corporation, whose brands all enjoy stellar reputations, Trafalgar has been offering classic and affordable journeys for over 70 years. What Makes Trafalgar Stand Out? Budget friendly without cutting activities Comfortable, not physically demanding tours Largely focused on cultural immersion  Strong reputation    Trafalgar is a budget friendly group tour operator with premium tastes. Their motto is “See the world from the inside,” - this is the place to come for culturally rich and immersive travel experiences that don’t break the bank or the back. Tours are comfortable, not too physically demanding, and offer the opportunity to meet, talk, eat and drink with locals. You’ll get to know chefs, artisans, craftsmen, historians, and farmers as you explore what makes each destination truly special. Trafalgar has a strong reputation, having been around since 1947 - putting them right at the pinnacle of when many premier guided tour companies were established. You’ll meet groups of like minded travelers, enjoy cultural experiences, expertly crafted itineraries with local touches and experiences guides, while traveling in comfort and ease. Who Will Enjoy Traveling With Trafalgar? Older travelers (but all ages are welcome) Low to mid range budget travelers Those who enjoy slow-paced itineraries and little physical activity Those who favor historic sightseeing & cultural immersion over active adventure    If you are an active traveler, perhaps recently retired, eager to explore the world in comfort, visiting a nice combination of unique local spots and classic sites, then Trafalgar could be a great choice. Possibly you are new to group tours and packages, having been used to creating your own travel experiences at a younger age - Trafalgar provides the perfect introduction to group tours. Or maybe you’re traveling with a family and interested in introducing a new generation of travelers to your favorite country - but don’t really have the time or patience to worry about planning out all the logistics. While they offer many trip styles, suitable for travelers of all ages, their classic touch is popular among older travelers. Classic doesn’t mean old fashioned or tired - simply a bit less on the active adventure and more on the historic sights and cultural experiences. They have a number of family focused tours, as well as tailored trips for special interests. Trafalgar trips are budget friendly, with most trips in middle to low range, including a “Cost Saver” feature that allows you to see more inexpensive trips broken down by ratings and cost clearly. They offer several deals throughout the year. Trafalgar is a British brand, so many of the attendees on your tour will be from the UK.   Top Destinations With Trafalgar, you can find trips to Europe, USA & Canada, South America, Asia, Australia & New Zealand. While the destinations are widespread, Trafalgar trips explore the culture and guides take you to hidden local spots without venturing too far outside the comfort zone. Tours in Europe and the UK are among the most popular itineraries. In South America, Trafalgar travels to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Peru. In Africa, they go to Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa. In Asia, it’s Cambodia, China, Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam. And in the Pacific, Trafalgar visits Australia and New Zealand. Wherever you go, you can expect high quality guides and accommodations, and smooth travels. They also have a number of religious themed tours, including trips that include excursions to Oberammergau, Bavaria. Once a decade this small town presents a Passion Play, and Trafalgar has had special access since 1970. The next time to experience this unique event is 2020. Trafalgar Travel Style The Trafalgar travel style is all about getting to know the culture through activities and connecting with locals. Their main tagline is “Discover the Good Life” meaning getting to experience the real thing, in a safe, escorted environment with knowledgeable guides there to help with the language and provide historical and cultural context. Discovering the Good Life encompasses perks like skipping lines and private access to classic sites; and unique experiences that bring you to places and among people you’d never have the chance to meet traveling on your own. This kind of travel is local immersion, but not in the same way a 25 year old might interpret that idea. Rather than bunking at hostels, going out late at night, and enjoying potentially questionable street food, you’ll stay in premium, centrally located and culturally significant accommodations - everything from bed and breakfasts in Ireland to hotels right on the banks of Norwegian fjords.  Learn cooking techniques in Italy, enjoy private winery tours at French chateaus, and touring a small olive farm in Spain are just a few examples of the kind of unique travel experiences you can expect with Trafalgar. Groups are large, typically between 40-45 travelers, a max of 52 on trips in the USA and Canada. Primary transportation during the tour is in large coaches, equipped with WiFi (with the exception of Alaska) and featuring large viewing windows - ideal for taking in the scenery as you head to your next destinations.   Most meals during Trafalgar tours are included. Trips often include free time during which you can explore on your own, with suggestions from your expert guides. Why Choose a Tour with Trafalgar? Trafalgar has a solid reputation, and they stick to what they’ve done well for over 50 years. They focus on the classics, providing a culturally rich perspective as you meet locals along the way. Their experience has allowed them to cultivate relationships around the world with local businesses - quality control you can trust for every stop along the trip. Niche tours based on specialized interests are also something they are proud to offer. Trafalgar is where you go to have the essentials and logistics take care of seamlessly while you sit back and enjoy. Do note that these tours can be quite large - 40 people traveling together in a tour group can be stifling for some. While they appeal to an older crowd due to their history and recognizable name, Trafalgar has an impressively well integrated social media presence. Trips on their site are accompanied by instagram posts from real travelers who have been on the same tour, using the hashtag #SimplyTrafalgar. Old or young(ish), couple or single, traveling Simply Trafalgar inspires confidence, comfort, and enjoyment.

Exceeded expectations on Chef Tour Sicily 2018

We have traveled to Europe five times prior including cruises and self-guided trips, but our experience in Sicily this past May was beyond amazing. Beppe and Heather and guides Giuseppe and Federica led us on a gorgeous bike and gastronomic adventure.....throw in two illustrious (and yet so personable) chefs and a great group, it exceeded all our expectations. Best vacation of our lifetime. Every day featured “insider” cultural, historical, social, and agricultural insights. We consumed some fantastic calories, yet by virtue of cycling and walking, we somehow came back at the same weight. Tourissimo is worth every penny!

Good tour vastly enhanced by high quality leader

Beppe Salerno was my guide on a cycling trip through Puglia in Southeastern Italy. Although I had cycled for many years and ridden in Italy before this was the first commercial trip I had ever taken. Riding with Beppe was central to the unique experience provided by this trip. Beppe provided unique insights into Italian life and culture as well as useful commentary on cycling routes and styles. His knowledge of Italian wines and cuisine transformed the trip from simply a “ride on a bicycle” to a gastronomic adventure. He introduced me to new wines, new dishes and to the people who grew, bottled and prepared them. We discussed history, dialects, regionalisms, music and architecture. Beppe's skills are many. Paramount among them, in my opinion, is his ability to motivate people of diverse backgrounds and with widely divergent interests into a cohesive, collaborative group enjoying the company of others while reveling in the delights of a shared ride.

well planned, organized and passionate

Tourissimo is the only way to travel by bike or hike in Italy. The local insight and knowledge on what roads to ride, which hotels to stay and most importantly where to stop for food and drink are where Tourissimo shine. The well planned, organized and passionate owners and local guides are extremely in tune with culinary traditions and oenology and could easily double for chefs and sommeliers (in fact I believe Beppe is) not to mention they also ride all day as guides. Beppe and Heather are running a unique operation for a truly one of a kind Italy experience.

A True Taste of Italy

Visiting Marche was a pleasant surprise for us. We were on a longer trip and decided to do the Taste of Italy for 5 days to visit a new area. What we most enjoyed about our visit was the city of Ascoli Piceno with its beautiful medieval center. In fact, we walked from our hotel after dinner every evening and explored the Roman amphitheater. A very different feel overall compared to the busy roads of the major cities. Our cooking class was exquisite and we were even given some home made fig jam to bring back to Seattle. Forget Tuscany next time, this is the real deal !! Thank you for showing us around, Ashley

Amazing Gluten Free vacation!

We were in a group of 4 people, two of us were not needing gluten free meals and we had a chance to taste everything. Even the cooking classes were separate so we could try different dishes! September was perfect for the weather. Rick, Charlotte North Carolina

The best pasta making experience! Great Tour!

Each day started with the best cappuccino we ever tasted! There was good variety between our three classes and they turned out to be all engaging and extremely fun for our group. The genuine feeling of making pasta by hand with somebody who has been doing it for 60 years cannot be boiled down to a review. Our ingredients and accompanying wines were above and beyond our expectations. Would go back in a heart beat!!

They offer highly specialized and customized small group and private guided food, wine, and cultural tours of Italy. What Makes Them Stand Out? Owned by two adventurous foodies, their unique style brings a love of food and culinary traditions to the forefront. Prepare for a laid back, but wonderfully fulfilling experience. The Italian culture with its incredible warmth, compassion, and boisterousness will be as much a character on your tour as the landscape, the locals, and the food (and the wine). Who Travels With Them? Foodies, this is the tour company for you. If you love local immersion, cooking, wine tasting, cycling, and history (as it relates to food) you’ll love traveling with Italian on Tour. This is not the company for you if you’re hoping to see a lot of major landmarks or do more traditional sightseeing. Where Do They Operate? They have a very specialized approach, focusing primarily in the Marche region on the Eastern coast of Italy. This relatively unknown region has a “hidden secret” vibe - and their local connections and knowledge make you feel as though you’re visiting relatives and friends. Why Travel With Them? This is a very unique culinary travel experience, designed especially for you by passionate travel experts. They’re extremely personal in tone, and this approach is refreshingly relaxed. Personal doesn’t imply unprofessional or low quality though. Rather it implies that when traveling with Italian on Tour you truly experience the Italy that everyone thinks of when they think of the countryside, the food, and the culture.

Pay for a 4 star trip and get 2 star food

My husband and I took the Treasures of the Mediterranean tour two weeks ago. The food off the ship was very good. The food on the ship was subpar (2 stars out of 4 stars). We ended up ordering French Fries at the beginning of each meal so we would at least have something to eat. I called Tauck and voiced my concerns. They offered us a $250 voucher each for another trip. I hardly think the food portion on the yacht was $250. Why would I go on another Tauck trip when my first one, which was our retirement celebration due to the poor food. The majority of the people on the trip were dissatisfied with the food and their reviews reflected it.

Still Spellbound by the Grandeur of Alaska

Focused on the amazing wildness of Alaska without worrying about the mundane details. Expert, low-key tour director made everything look easy. Excursions enhanced appreciation for the history, terrain, wildlife, peoples, boom and bust cycles that make Alaska so unique. Clear view of Denali, great weather, days 'at sea' with binoculars in hand! Most Memorable Moment: Flightseeing, Tundra Wilderness tour (clear Denali, rare wolf sighting and grizzlies in distance), crossing Prince William Sound (sea-otters, orcas, stellar sea-lions, and more), Hubbard Glacier calving, Glacier Bay entire day, Whale Watching out of Juneau, and bald eagles everywhere!

The Ultimate Alps & Dolomites 2019
The Ultimate Alps & Dolomites 2019 Trip Type: Small Group Tour
Founded in 1925 by Arthur Tauck, the company has blossomed from a New England motor coach tour agency to offering trips throughout the world -- by land (including rail), sea, and sometimes by air (private air charters, helicopters). But it remains a Tauck family-run business, now in its fourth generation. Quick Facts Founded in 1925 Luxury travel with a friendly touch Small groups, large groups, river cruises Solo friendly Average tour price is around $6,000 p/p Unique partnerships: BBC Earth, offering science themed nature tours, Ken Burns journeys in the US What Makes Tauck Stand Out “No grouches or pessimists” was the plea in a 1920s newspaper ad for a small tour group. From that small automobile taking curious, adventurous New Yorkers along dusty roads through beautiful New England, Tauck has come a long way, now offering guided tours throughout the world. They look upon their legacy with immense pride, as well they should. Arthur Tauck was an immigrant who pulled himself up by bootstraps and engenuity, and his name represents a supreme, classic and classy tour experience.   Tauck is a long-established high-quality tour operator with a strong reputation as one of the top companies offering upper-mid-range to luxury group travel and river cruises for the 50+ crowd. While its staple has been European and North American land tours, Tauck has been increasingly expanding into special family trips, exotic locations, and recent award-winning European river cruising. Who Will Enjoy Traveling with Tauck? Pricing is virtually all-inclusive -- no additional options that can run up costs are offered during the trips, yet this is not a place for the true budget traveler. Though they offer several different types of tours, from family vacations to river cruising, attracting and serving a diverse customer group, the legacy of tradition and comfortability appeals largely to older and middle aged travelers. Solo travelers are very welcome on Tauck trips, and pay a low single supplement. Numerous specifically solo friendly tours are offered. You’ll meet romantic singles, or simply independent minded travelers, of all ages. Large family or friend groups could find a great fit at Tauck. Particularly because if your group is 11 people, the 11th travels for free! Because of Tauck’s impressively wide reaching themes and styles for families, having several different ages will be easier to entertain than they might be with other companies. They even have dedicated “family river cruises”. So if you’re considering a multi-gen family reunion or have a large group of friends with various ages, Tauck could be a good choice. Top Destinations Tauck destinations include all seven continents -- so whether you're trying to plan an Iceland vacation or looking to take a trip to Canada, consider Tauck! Special themes may include food and wine, North American national parks, fall foliage, solo travel, African safaris, “Culturious” travel (for culturally curious baby boomers), “Bridges” (for families), and “Events,” which are considered once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences. These may feature a trip to the Kentucky Derby or journeys based around themes of Ken Burns films, with a chance to meet Burns himself. Tauck Travel Style Tauck’s travel style is all about seeing destinations in comfort, yet with a strong sense of adventure and desire to see different sides of the destination - from local life to culturally immersive activities. Land tours are where they began, and they offer hundreds of different tours of various lengths around the world. Typically accommodations are in comfortable 3, 4, and occasionally 5 star hotels. Tauck has an award winning river cruise line, covering a variety of European rivers. They strive to create an intimate setting, where customer service is not compromised. Small ship cruises use 40- to 264-passenger-size yachts and expeditionary vessels that can visit small islands and other locations that big ships cannot. The staff is known for its attentiveness and individualized service. Among Tauck’s unique partnerships is a special connection with the BBC Earth, through which they offer what they call “Earth Journeys”. These explore the natural world with emphasis on being outdoors learning the fascinating earth science behind stunning nature and wildlife. Tauck is a luxury minded brand, and their prices do tend to sit in the upper budget range. Think an average price between $5,000 and $7,000 per person. That said, they strive to reflect a friendliness and openness, and steer away from any kind of “stuffy” feeling. Their trips are comprehensive and full of enriching cultural activities, while also appreciating the value behind enjoying a cocktail hour before heading into dinner. Why Choose a Tour or River Cruise With Tauck? Tauck has an impressive array of travel styles and tours, suitable to numerous types of travelers. They are especially popular with large family groups and corporate groups, as well as very friendly to solo / single travelers. A renowned, award winning, and well established company, they seamlessly marry innovation with legacy - sticking to their roots while continuing to create unique offerings. Some of its biggest growth has come on water, where Tauck operates a fleet of seven European river boats and a number of small ship cruises. Their customer service, attentive and knowledgeable guides are definitely a key component to their popularity. Tauck offers something for just about everyone.

Immersed in the culture and the land

On our walks and at meals, mostly at the 2 fabulous restaurants in Ardersier, we met and had long conversations with residents. We also had time to observe the flora and fauna, note the birds, like the oystercatchers, and their ways, the weather, and habits of Ardersier residents. So, unlike most tours, we were far more immersed in the culture and land.

Nice to be on my own, but with backup if needed.

It was nice to be own my own in Rome, but with a back-up contact at the ready if I needed it. I didn't need it, but it was a comforting feeling to know it was there. I was working part time from the apartment in Rome, and it provided just the right atmosphere to work part of the day, and then go out and explore on my own from the excellent central location. Mary, the on-site rep was so friendly and knowledgeable. The apartment was very comfortable and so well located.

When is a tour not a tour? When it’s an Untour, of course. Pennsylvania-based Untours stakes out its own ground in the tour business, offering “all the fun of independent travel without all the work.” And they’ve been doing it for more than 40 years, building an experienced, knowledgeable staff both in the U.S. and Europe. What Makes Them Stand Out? As its name suggests, Untours is different than a typical tour agency. It doesn’t offer guided tours or group tours, but it does offer unlimited pre-trip planning advice, orientation upon arrival at your European destination, a private apartment to stay in, and transportation while there. Who Travels With Them? Untours clients like the idea of being mostly on their own while traveling, but are looking for extra assistance in planning, getting oriented, and arranging for lodging and transport. Since the Untours method saves time and energy when traveling to an unfamiliar place, it’s especially popular with people of working age or those who don’t enjoy extensive research. Where Do They Operate? Untours operates in 24 European locations, including multiple cities, towns and villages in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Other locations are in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Holland, Ireland, the UK, and Greece. How Does it Work? You choose the European location of your dreams – it could be Alsace, France; Tuscany, Italy; London, England; Budapest, Hungary; Barcelona, Spain; Leiden, Holland; Nafplio, Greece; or a village in Switzerland, among others – and Untours will set you up. You can ask all the questions about your destination that you want, and you’ll also be given an Untours guidebook to the region. When you arrive, Untours’ local staff will fill you in on anything you want or need to know. They’ll transfer you from the airport to your private apartment, cottage, or farmhouse -- where you’ll stay for one to two weeks -- and also set you up with a rental car, rail pass, or mass-transit pass, depending on your location. Otherwise, you’re entirely on your own to do what you want. Why Travel With Them? Untours offers an unusual service that strikes a balance between a guided tour and independent travel. Of course, you can put together your own group of friends or family if you don’t want to travel strictly on your own. You can also combine Untours (they’ll provide transfers between regions) if you want a longer trip, or opt for customized itineraries and luxury-level properties. You can even choose to just book one of their properties and dispense with the other planning and orientation.

Everything provided was well worth the money. Whether it was the accommodation, included activities and meals and other services like flights or other transportation methods. Not a single fault in the tour
5.0 • Grace

Never again

Our bus got broken into in Rome and all of our carry baggage was stolen!! 50+ Bags, After writing to contiki they see it no fault of theirs. The bus driver was meant to stay with the bus and as this was a relief driver who had NOTHING of his stolen it seems very suspicious!! A few of us had to stay behind after the tour left to sort our passports out so the tour carried on without us so we were left in Rome and sort it out ourselves. Really disappointed in Contiki on how they had dealt with this. First time in Europe and get told “you have to stay behind and wait for your passport while we carry on”. You get told pick pocket is very common in Rome and also get told not to leave stuff on the bus but if you are not dropped at your hotel beforehand you have NO choice!! I thought it would be safer on the bus as it was meant to be attended at all times exspecally with 50 peoples belongings on there!! There are many of us that are left battling with our insurance company while they just wash their hands with it. No reason as to why the bus driver left the bus in the first place with ALL our bags on it. Rome has one of the highest crime rates in the world. What were we meant to do? Walk about with our backpacks and also drag our suitcase around the city?? Really put a damper on this trip. If you are doing a contiki make sure you NEVER leave anything on the bus as they don't have cameras nor do they stay with the bus! Contiki offer me a 5% discount on my next tour with them…. Ahhhh no thanks and what a slap in the face. Take some responsibility! Plus they over booked a ferry we were meant to have a room to sleep in so we ended up sleeping on the ground on a 20+ hr ferry journey.

Winter Spirit around Europe!

I did the 24 day Winter Spirit around Europe! I would definitely recommend booking a Topdeck tour! It was the best experience ever. Doing my second Topdeck in July around New Zealand!

Most amazing experience ever!

Did Uluru discovery in Australia and Grand Kiwi in NZ back in November and it was the most amazing experience ever! Awesome guide and driver. Well organized and took great care of us! Only one bad hostel accommodation wise, but other than that it was amazing. It was so nice not having to worry about accommodations, transportation, and most meals when we got there! On the days it wasn’t included, the guide/driver would tell us what’s in the area! For sure will be doing another topdeck tour in the future!

Extremely knowledgeable

My partner and I just completed the 20 day Discover Winter tour and it was absolutely outstanding! What really made the trip though was the Trip Leader, Alex, and the driver, Deyan. They were both extremely knowledgeable people and explained everything we needed to know to enjoy every place we went to. I highly recommend this tour and hope that everybody else has the opportunity to meet Alex and Deyan.

Founded in 1973, Topdeck has been providing fun, adventurous trips around the world for 18-39 for over 40 years. What Makes Topdeck Travel Stand Out? Topdeck tour focuses on providing friendly and authentic guided group tours where like-minded 18-39 year old travelers can have amazing group experiences. There are several trip types to choose from, from camping, to immersive, to multi destination, to sailing. Who Will Enjoy Traveling with Topdeck? Sociable, adventurous, budget conscious 18-39 year olds are the kinds of traveler who will gravitate to Topdeck. Though they offer a few different distinct travel styles, there is definitely a sense of an ongoing party, with travel as the conduit and underlying shared interest. If the idea of being around a group of similarly aged people - many of whom may be exploring internationally for the first or second time - being spontaneous, and meeting locals (often in the environment of bars or clubs) is unappealing, then Topdeck may not be your cup of tea. Introverted travelers, or those for whom an extensively planned itinerary including many museums and historical sites is ideal, may want to hunt around before choosing a Topdeck tour. That is not to dissuade the more observational traveler - who may very well find a group they gel with perfectly on a Topdeck tour. Only to caution that you will be surrounded by several extroverted personalities. The bottom line is if you are game for anything, are traveling on a budget, and don’t mind fairly basic but comfortable accommodations and inexpensive meals - sometimes on the go - then you will enjoy the Topdeck tour experience. Top Destinations Topdeck has tours throughout the world, in Europe, Australia & New Zealand, North America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Topdeck Travel Style The Topdeck travel style is tied quite specifically to their audience. These tours are great for youthful and energetic 18-39 year olds looking for a good time and to make new friends. In the interest of keeping their tours affordable, travelers with Topdeck will need to make a few allowances. For example, hostels and hotels may be situated quite far away from the city centers. You can also expect some long travel days. The more of a good sense of humor and adventure you have, the more you’ll enjoy the experience. Why Choose a Tour With Topdeck Feeling the urge to connect with travelers in your age group, have fun, and make lasting friendships? Topdeck has over 40 years of experience in adventure travel, which has helped them create epic low cost trips for 18-30 somethings. These tours are certainly not for those who prefer to take things slow. You will be running around, moving between a lot of places - which in some cases means very long bus rides - going out a lot, meeting new people, and staying active throughout your tour. If your ideal travel experience is more methodical and planned out in nature, Topdeck may not be for you. But if you are an adventurous and social travelers eager to absorb a new culture and make new friends, then hop on board!

Absolutely wonderful!

My recent trip to see Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons was absolutely wonderful! The information, scenery, new friends, patience of the guide and bus driver could not have been better! I highly recommend any trip done by this company! We stayed in terrific hotels, had wonderful means and our bus was very comfortable. I felt that it was going to be quite good, but it was even better than I thought it would be! Tons of fun! I plan to go on many more trips with Road Scholar.

Road Scholar Owes My Mom A Huge Apology and Refund. Highly advise AGAINST using them.

Let me preface this story with some background about myself: I backpacked through most of Europe by myself when I was studying abroad in Ireland. I suffered through horrendous bus rides, getting kicked out of seats on trains, sleeping in questionable hostels, and going weeks without being able to really do laundry. I know how crappy it can be to actually get from one place to another, and how worth it is to suffer through all of that just to lay eyes on something magnificent. And yet, Road Scholar has, without a doubt, managed to give me the single worst travel experience I've ever had in my entire life, and we didn't even make it off the ground. I would never, ever, EVER recommend them to anyone looking to go anywhere, and as far as I'm concerned, Road Scholar needs to seriously reconsider their travel-making procedures and give my mother a huge apology and refund. (Also, I'm only in my twenties, so I have a lot of years ahead of me to make referrals.) It all started with Road Scholar not getting us flights. We claimed our spot on a trip to the Lake region in Northern Italy, but no one ever called us back about any travel arrangements. It appeared we were on the trip IN Italy, but no one had bothered to make any arrangements to get us there. My mother called and left messages, emailed people, and the only response we got was that our flight should be booked at some point in early May (when our trip was set to start on May 22). Road Scholar urges people to book their flights through their preferred travel agency, which is who didn't call us back. Road Scholar, to market themselves as educational tourism rather than shallow "I just want to see things" tourism, partners up with different educational institutions, and ours was through Trinity College. The director of the Italian programs called us asking for our travel information, since she didn't have it yet. Interesting news to us. We were then told that we could make travel arrangements of our own (even though we were paying Road Scholar to do it for us) and then inform the program of our travel plans and how we were getting to our hotel. So we started to investigate making our own plans, when someone finally called us back saying that they were taking care of our travel arrangements, and they "didn't know why we hadn't had them made for us already." The director of the program was happy to hear this, because the Lake region of Italy is not as easily accessible as other areas. We asked for upgraded seats because my mom has had both of her knees replaced, and while that doesn't inhibit her in the slightest from being active, it limits where she can sit on planes. In a cramped regular economy seat with no leg room on an international flight that was going to last 8-10 hours, she wouldn't have been able to walk off the plane because of how her knees would cramp up. But they said they could make the arrangements (which is also advertised on their website) so that was that. We got our itinerary, accommodations, and were all set. We were booked through United and Lufthansa (neither of which either of us will EVER book through again), so I downloaded the United app onto my iPhone so I could check us in and make sure we had mobile copies of our boarding passes in addition to the paper ones my mom printed out. We were all set to fly from Cincinnati to Washington D.C., from D.C. to Frankfurt, and from Frankfurt down to Verona where we would be meeting up with the group -- which, by the way, we never received any information regarding where the group was meeting, the transportation to the lake resort, etc. Nothing. Just "after you get there" stuff. Then this morning, I woke up to a notification from United Airlines (and a text message alert that I had set up) saying that our flight to D.C. had been cancelled due to weather. Obviously I'm not blaming Road Scholar for that. What I am holding Road Scholar accountable for is what happened next: my mom called the Emergency Hotline (which is a recording -- and I HIGHLY recommend that they change this, because when I studied abroad, we had two emergency hotlines, both of which were always answered by real human beings, one for anything happening in the United States, and the other for the program, which was a different number for each location and a direct line to one of the program directors on the ground in the country you were actually in). We left a voicemail, someone named Mike called us back, and he was an absolute asshole. When you book your flight through a travel agency/group travel organization, if anything happens to your flight, it is the THEIR responsibility to take care of it. We were told by Road Scholar, and it's available on their website: "When you book your airfare through Road Scholar, we're there to help you in case of any emergencies." When Mike called us back and we told him that our flight to D.C. had been cancelled, he told us that he couldn't look up any other flights (on both United and any other airlines) for us to potentially get on to get to D.C for our transatlantic flight. Instead, he told us to call United ourselves and to go to the airport and talk to the desk agent. I then ended up on the phone (and on hold) the entire drive to the airport, which resulted in nothing because tons of flights had been cancelled due to airline politics and weather. We finally got to the desk agent at the airport, had a hell of a time getting rebooked on another flight, and weren't able to get the upgraded seats that we paid extra money for. When we called Road Scholar and Mike back to ask if during the course of our day when we would be traveling (and unable to make phone calls) he would call Lufthansa to at least make the airline aware of our need for better seating due to my mother's knee replacements, he was unhelpful and rude, at first attempting to refuse calling on our behalf and finally agreeing to, but only after repeatedly telling us "there's no guarantee of those seats" (something we definitely understood because we're not stupid). Our rebooked flight wasn't set to leave until 7:45 PM tonight, putting us in Verona at 4:05 PM the next day (4 hours after the group transfer to the hotel), so we returned home instead of waiting around the airport for 12 hours. We got on both United and Lufthansa's websites and discovered that not only had our original itineraries not been removed, we had been double booked, one for a flight out of North Carolina to Munich through Delta, and another out of D.C. (the 7:45 PM flight) which had a 23 hour layover in Munich. A call to Road Scholar resulted in us being told that we had to contact the airlines. My mother was on the phone, talking to either United representatives or Lufthansa representatives, from about 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM. We were told we had reservations but no tickets, told we had tickets but couldn't see the numbers, told there were seats available for us to get upgraded to but we would have to try to get the desk agent in D.C. to arrange that for us, told that there was no guarantee we could get those seats, and more. It was incredible the amount of bureaucratic bullshit we had to put up with, especially since each airline wouldn't take any responsibility for us getting the seats we paid for and on a new flight, telling us "we'd have to talk to the other company about that." We finally called Road Scholar to see if there was anything more they could do, who encountered the same mess we already had, and all they did was eventually advise us to go back to the airport (a 45 minute drive) and talk to the desk agent to see IF they could put us in the upgraded seats -- ones we had already paid for and my mom couldn't make the trip without! Then when asked how they would be getting us to our destination in the Lake region (which is not an easy place to get to, as I looked up the train and bus schedules myself, because - remember - I have tons of experience at this point traveling on the ground across Europe), they wouldn't outright say what our plans would be, which could've been anything from picking us up in the airport in a car, giving us a damn rental to drive ourselves, or simply paying for tickets and expecting us to haul all our luggage from the airport to the shuttle to the train station in Verona, take the 2+ hour train to a town an hour away from our destination, have to catch a bus to the actual town we were supposed to be in, and then walk the rest of the way there. Seeing what all happened, I would bet it would've been the latter, which isn't a problem for someone like me, but is an issue for someone like my mom. The moral of the story here is that my mom and I shouldn't have had to be on the phone with anyone other than Road Scholar, PERIOD. Seeing as we paid well over $10,000 for this trip, the minute the flight was cancelled, Road Scholar should've called us to let us know that they would be making other arrangements for us to get to our trip in the Lake region of Italy. THEY should've been the ones on the phone, dealing with the airline bureaucrats, working their hardest to get us any combination of flights to get us to Italy in the seats that we paid for. Or, if it really came down to it, they should've made arrangements for us to be on this trip at another point in time, offered us another excursion in its place, or simply given us a refund. Instead, they didn't want to do the jobs that we paid them to do, and we were the ones that had to take time out of our day, which was already scheduled to be a hectic and stressful time because traveling is simply just that, to do Road Scholar's job. They didn't look out for us one single bit and completely and utterly RUINED what was supposed to have been a wonderful trip for me and my mom. My mother has an adventurous and curious soul and hasn't gotten to go to Europe the way she always wanted to. Since I graduated college, my mother suggested taking a mother-daughter trip. This was supposed to be incredibly special for the both of us, getting to go somewhere new together (I hadn't explored Northern Italy much and that's where we decided to go), learning about the food and the culture, and bonding over all the amazing things we were going to be able to do. I think my mom was even more excited about this trip than I was, voraciously reading all the required/recommended reading, practicing Italian in her room so she could order correctly at restaurants, not giving up when we hit little bumps in the road along the way. Instead, we have been nothing but doubtful at best in the entire planning of this trip, and deeply disappointed and angered at worst. I will never again recommend Road Scholars to anyone looking to go on group trips. Instead, I will steer people away and recommend that they either find a better travel agency, book the trip themselves, or go through Rick Steve's program. Road Scholar should issue my mother a refund and an apology or risk being sued.

Founded in 1975 as Elderhostel, Road Scholar took its new name in 2010. The name change was meant to better reflect the non-profit educational travel organization’s mission, which is to offer lifelong learning opportunities to adults. Besides it’s a clever play on words (the takeoff on Rhodes Scholar), “Road” stands for the journeys the group offers, while “Scholar” indicates the deep devotion to learning that participants possess. What Makes Road Scholar Stand Out? Tours specifically designed for older travelers and with a heavy focus on gaining deeper knowledge through educational activities, led by guides who are experts in a variety of fields. Instructors accompanying Road Scholar trips are experts in their fields, delivering lectures and leading field trips. Trip themes may range from history and culture, language study, and music appreciation to birding, bicycling, and baseball (proving that learning can be light-hearted, too). Traveling with Road Scholar is like a study abroad experience, with classes and instructors, with a group of people the same age who have a similarly extensive hindsight on life - and love to learn. Who Will Enjoy Traveling with Road Scholar? The first thing to note is that Road Scholar trips are specifically intended for travelers 50 and above (often 65+). Open minded, active, and worldly life-long learners who have a sense of adventure and willingness to try new things, will love the cadence of a Road Scholar trip. Road Scholar is often the first guided trip experience for older travelers. Perhaps in your younger days you loved going it alone, planning out your itinerary, and loved the spontaneity of traveling off the beaten path. Now you’re ready to have that same spirit, but with a few more ducks in a row and maybe hit some of the classic sites you missed or didn’t truly appreciate before. Road Scholar has recently added special grandparent-grandchild trips and programs for three generations traveling together. Keep in mind that the focus remains on education, distinguishing Road Scholar trips from most commercial tours. Group sizes with Road Scholar vary, but many small group study tours are limited to 10-24 participants. They are also very friendly to solo travelers - offering many tours for solos and singles where you can meet new friends, and romantic interests! Road Scholar allows for particular good compatibility between you and your tour mates as each journey is designed around specific themes from an educational perspective. Top Destinations With a special Road Scholar operates tours in 150 countries, as well as every state in the U.S. Aside from the educational days, many trips include activities in nature, with hiking, kayaking, and other outdoors experiences. Road Scholar Travel Style Road Scholar creates their itineraries to encourage learning - both in a scholarly way, from knowledgeable guides, and experts in various fields, and also in a holistic way - from the accommodations, meals, and transportation. Your entire journey with Road Scholar is designed as an educational experience. Tours are referred to as “programs”, guides, tour directors, and leaders are “faculty” and they even have an online “campus store”. Programs are designed to be immersive and very different from a canned experience. Walking trips, train treks, small ship cruises, and riverboat voyages are among the options for trip style. Prices typically stay in the budget/value range consistent with the company’s roots. Road Scholar offers may ways to save on their trips. These include scholarships, friend referrals, and various specials and deals throughout the year. Why Choose a Tour With Road Scholar? On a Road Scholar tour you can expect a lot of unique cultural, artistic, historic, and local insights. Meet artisans, learn local crafts, and feel the camaraderie of being around other travelers who enjoy the educational aspect of travel. The original Elderhostel grew out of the vision of the late Marty Knowlton, who spent four years backpacking around Europe while staying in youth hostels -- and wanted American adults to have access to similar cultural experiences. If you consider yourself a lifelong learner and want to spend your vacation amongst others who share your passion for travel and education, Road Scholar is the place for you.

italian Escape is fantastic!

My husband and I and a good friend just returned from the Italian Escape in March. We travelled to Rome, Assisi, Florence, Pisa and Venice. What a great trip! Our excursions were wonderful- the Uffizi gallery, Tuscan dinner, Roman walking tour and Venice gondola ride. The tour guide Luca and Lucianna our bus driver did a very nice job. Our hotels, the Cicerone in Rome, the Grand Mediterraneo in Florence and Carlton on the Grand were very nice. (My favorite was the Grand Mediterraneo.) Our travel connection was Steve in Littleton, Colorado and he was outstanding making our flight AND trip plans. I was especially impressed with the expert planning on the part of a Globus. We saw so much in a weeks time, yet had plenty of time to experience Rome, Venice and Florence on our own. We arrived in Rome early the 1st day so we scheduled a Skip the Line tour to visit the inside of the Coloseum, as that wasn’t scheduled on the Globus tour. We are really glad we were proactive in that way. We HIGHLY recommend this Escape with Globus; we enjoyed it so much the week we got back we scheduled an Ireland Escape for later this year!

Be aware of their online shop

Be aware of their online shop, they charge your card and then cancel your order. I first thought it was an error and contacted their customer service. They told me to reorder. I did so and again my credit card was charged and my order canceled. It's really a shame for Globus, almost a scam.

I thought the tour itinerary, tour director and the bus were all fabulous! I liked all of the hotels and their locations except for the Palm Springs Riviera Hotel, I feel it is in need of a major renovation.

Ages 50+ Low and high budget travelers Those who enjoy slower paced itineraries Globus tours are heavily aimed at active older travelers, particularly recent retirees and baby boomers in the 50+ range, as well as seniors. You have a desire to relax and feel at home, able to linger and appreciate classic sights as well as perhaps enjoy a cappuccino at a local cafe suggested by your tour leader. You don’t want to be rushed or hurried from place to place, yet are attracted to the benefits of guided travel - logistics taken care of and a guide to help keep the itinerary moving. As a long-established, award-winning tour company Globus caters to both budget group travelers and those seeking a more personalized (and costly) travel package. And since you can choose among group, individual, family, or religious travel experiences lasting anywhere from four to 29 days, Globus tours appeal to a broad range of travelers. But their sweet spot remains middle-of-the-road ‘value’ travelers. Top Destinations Today, still family owned, Globus operates in 60 plus countries across the globe, offering nearly 160 different escorted tours to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the South Pacific, and North and South America. They are especially known for Europe and Canada Whether you're looking for vacation packages to Switzerland or the best Thailand tours, consider Globus. On European motor coach tours, Globus limits group size to 44, allowing for extra legroom on the bus. Globus Travel Style The Globus travel style is relaxed yet comprehensive. Group tours are designed to allow for personal time to explore, but with many pre-planned activities, excursions, and meals to enjoy throughout your vacation. Groups are medium size - and can accommodate large groups of friends or families. You’ll have the opportunity to meet new friends and like minded travelers. In Europe private tours are also available with Globus. for those looking to make this independent exploration possible to an even greater extent. An attentive Tour Director is never far away on a Globus trip. Globus tour directors are locals, who have input over the itinerary, lend their unique perspective, and take you to the best spots for meals, drinks, shopping, etc. They are also knowledgeable guides, introducing the culture and country’s history through visits to major sites and attractions. Globus travel style is about combining the best of “travel like a local” with the best of “classic tour sites”. Globus is not a luxury brand, but accommodations and transportation will be comfortable. Transportation is in large motorcoaches, equipped with wifi and large viewing windows. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Why Choose a Tour with Globus? Older active travelers not interested in slowing down just yet will appreciate the Globas approach. Globus makes amazing travel experiences reachable - for multiple budgets and styles. Super adventurous and independent minded travelers may be curious to explore other options before deciding on Globus. These kinds of fully escorted tours aren’t for everyone. You will have some free time, but most meals, excursions, and activities are inclusions in the price - leaving you somewhat out of luck if you don’t want to participate in a certain itinerary item. If you’re curious about group travel, other group tours provide more flexibility that could provide a more positive introduction to this style of travel. Globus offers many great perks for larger groups planning to travel. If you’re a group of eight people traveling together, you are eligible for special deals and discounts; and if you’re a group of 20 people, Globus will arrange a tailor-made itinerary for you. If you are a traveler looking for value tours and prefer a specific travel theme, then globus has trips and tours that are designed accordingly.

Bad trip leader experience

The activities were a mixture of good and repetitive and the description of the game drives seems a little embellished. We didn't encounter hardly any elephants and the leopard sighting is apparently not as common as one might think (2-3 a week according to local guide). While we were "fortunate" to observe one, it was so far away that only a 400mm lens would get to see it, but that's after you fight through about 40 vehicles all converging to a single space in order to catch a glimpse before the park warden hurries you on because your time is up! It's also a madhouse trying to get into the park. There is no orderly fashion while up to a hundred vehicles all vie to be first in the gate (this is at Yala). The biggest downside to the trip was our trip leader. On two occasions when we had questions about the activities, he became very defensive and argumentative, and when trying to walk away from the conversation so that it didn't escalate further, he followed us intent on exclaiming what a good guide he's been and that we were the problem. We walked away again, and yet he still following us turning the conversation into harassment. I was glad when the trip ended to get away from him and if it weren't for having another back-to-back Exodus trip (see Maldives review) immediately following this one, I would have never wanted to travel with Exodus again given that experience. In sum, trip leader very poor (astonishingly so) and trip itinerary could improve by offering more variety/flexibility to wildlife viewings rather than doing the same repeat walks 3 times. All food was at hotels so not much of a variety or local fare encountered. Lovely country and lovely people though and group was great!

The most stunning trip of my life

Its been a long held dream of mine to go to the Antarctic and the trip I booked via Exodus far exceeded my expectations. Amazing scenery, captivating and exciting wildlife, a plethora of facts, figures and general education from the on board experts and I can claim a world first to boot from my holiday to the Antarctic and below the polar circle. The landscapes and wildlife. The scenery is breathtaking, from the continent itself to the many islands and icebergs floating away from the land mass and glaciers. I have never seen anywhere quite so remote and in many ways barren, yet at the same time rich in life and activity. And you will never get over the amazing shapes of the ice along with the vivid blues you see in the glaciers and icebergs. Quite sensational. The penguins are of course the stars, but the frequency of whale sightings and fluking along with seals and many type of birds including the mighty albatross just make the experience even more rewarding. The tour leader is in effect an Expedition Leader fronting a large team of professional from a range of countries. Ours was wonderful. An enormous personality and with the best sense of humour coupled with safety and huge amounts of professional integrity. The people in the expedition team were sensational. They come from a mix of backgrounds, however all have skills in subjects ranging from glaciology to water sports instructor, polar researcher to the armed forces, historian to nature and much more. Not only do you get the chance to attend lectures and learn from them on a really diverse range of topics, but they also accompany the trips off the ship and interact with you during meals and drinks as well as on time when you are cruising. They have both professionally and also personally empowering stories to tell and they really enhanced my trip in a way I did not think possible. If you want to do any of the activities then book them up as soon as you make your reservation. Spaces are limited and I was unable to camp on the ice or take part in kayaking. Don't worry about being cold. Its not actually as cold as you imagine and the ship is fantastically warm and homely. The jacket and boots they supply you with are excellent. Concentrate on buying good quality thermals in layers along wit6h waterproof trousers and gloves and a warm fleece or wool hat. Edit your photos as you go along and always be ready to shoot stuff. The onboard team will help you with this as they have photographers ready to help with your trip. I was in the first group of paddleboarders believed to have ever paddleboarded south of the Antractic Circle. Not only had I never done it before, but we got to claim a world first. Finally don't delay going any longer. It may not be a cheap trip, however it is so amazing and experience that you will not regret the time and expense in going.

A magical trip! One of my best ever!

This trip far exceeded my expectations on every level. The underwater wildlife encounters were superior to any other snorkeling I've done. There's an abundance of things to see and coupled with the chance to scuba dive and excellent water conditions - it's a top notch destination. The boat was very comfortable, the crew was excellent and took care of every need, and the food was awesome. Ranks as one of my all-time favorites!

Spent two and a half days with Michael!!

We spent two and a half days with Michael in Perugia, Assisi, Spello and Orvieto. When we were in the places where all the tourists visit, His personal and private conversations gave them added dimension unavailable on mass tours. Also It was nice to have His local view point on places to eat, shop and even a personal recommendation on Perusia's best ice cream. He starts with the big picture historic and finishes with small details That give real life to the stories. Michele even gave us a great recommendation to visit Bagnoregio on our own after we parted ways in Orvieto. In Siena, Barbara had a similar gift for illuminating history with personal stories and experiences. It was as if you have a good friend who lives in the city, showing you the most fun and interesting places.

The knowledge of every guide made the trip soo much more enjoyable.

We just returned from a 10 day trip to Italy on Story’s Treasured Cities tour and we had the most amazing trip. We were not part of one of the group tours as they were sold out so we were a bit nervous about getting around not speaking Italian. Story arranged everything soo perfectly for us that it took 100% of the stress out of the trip. Someone was waiting for us at every airport, train station etc to get us to our destination without a hitch. We had private one on one tours daily and the guides were incredible. Andrea in Venice, Susanna Buricchi in Florence and Sonia in Rome went above and beyond. The knowledge of every guide made the trip soo much more enjoyable. You have plenty of free time in each city to explore and the hotels are always right in the heart of the cities, all walkable. If you were even questioning story don’t, It’s worth every penny and we could not be more pleased.

We decided to trust Story to deliver one of our bucket list trips. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!

We decided to trust Story to deliver one of our bucket list trips. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The tour through Venice, Florence, Cortona, and Rome exceeded our expectations. Absolutely everything was FIRST CLASS. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We gave it 5 stars only because there aren’t 6. The published itinerary was delivered in spades with special additions, sometimes twice a day. We never touched luggage, as it was moved for us from location to location. We never had to deal with tickets for transportation or museums. The local, private guides were super. The included dinners and wine were superb. This is a no driving, hassle free tour. We are planning to take another Story Small Group tour. AND, as a special treat, the owner of the company was our tour captain. We tried several things that may be included in future itineraries. In the course of 9 days nothing flustered him. Everything was taken in stride, dealt with and resolved quickly. Nothing interfered with his fantastic service to his guests. We were not customers in any sense of the word. There was never a hint that Story was trying to watch the budget. For those of you reading this and trying to decide, there are some things you need to consider. (When you have questions, call. You'll find that the Story help line is very knowledgeable and helpful.) Small group - There were 15 people on our tour (16 is maximum). The tour caption had the time to get to know all of us. We saw lots of groups that appeared to be 40-50 people! You get to decide which is best for you. The smaller group = higher cost. We thought that it was easily worth it. Walking - There is a lot of walking on this tour. There is always the option to use a taxi to get from place to place (extra cost). Some of the people on the tour with us had apps to count steps. Most showed more than 10,000 at noon time! MANY of those steps are on stairs and rough/cobble stone streets. Many of the stairs are inside attractions - not between them – so they can’t be avoided. By the end of our nine days, some tour group members were opting out of some planned activities. Opinion: If you can't complete a three mile walk, over uneven terrain, at a three mph pace (that's faster than most people walk), comfortably; get in shape. You’ll never do a constant three mile walk, on the tour – but it’ll feel like it. Weather - We had fantastic weather! Temperature in the mid/low 70's and two sprinkles in nine days. Mostly sunshine. A great time to go. Crowds - On the other hand, it wasn't such a great time to go. The crowds of tourists were overwhelming, everywhere except Cortona. I.E.: Our private, skip-the-line guided tour of the Vatican was especially BAD. We waited in line for about an hour and then once inside, we were literally shoulder to shoulder for the remaining two - three hours. It was nearly impossible to enjoy/understand what we were seeing. We spent more time trying to keep in sync with the group than looking at the art. The Sistine Chapel was NOT worth the time it took to get there. This was not something that Story could control. If the Vatican is important to you, go some other time of the year! If you are there during the busy season, opt out. There are thousands of fantastic things to see in Rome that won't be busy. Security - We had a tour guide point out a small group of gypsy/pick-pockets as we exited the Vatican and steered us around them. That was the only "issue" in nine days - not a big deal. But, we were reminded to be "vigilant" many times - especially around crowds. Navigation - Venice, Florence and Rome are VERY difficult to get around. There are many streets/alleys that run in apparently random directions. The maps available through hotels/tourist agents are not in adequate detail. Consider a hand-held GPS navigation system MANDITORY. Our phone did not have cell connectivity, so we down loaded the Google map. It worked once. Be very careful that you have a navigation device that works! Download a local map and test, test, test in airplane mode (?) before you go. Driving – If you are going to Italy and renting a car, during the busy season, Venice allows no cars, problem solved. Driving in Florence and ESPECIALLY Rome is crazy. You've been forewarned. Hotels - As it says, the hotels are in the center of the city/attractions. For example: the hotel in Rome was 200 feet from the Pantheon! This means that some of the buildings are more than 1,500 years old. You'll get used to seeing corners that you'd think should be 90 degrees, but aren't. Be prepared to spend time learning how things work and how to find your room - it'll be different from hotel to hotel and what you are used to! WiFi worked good in each hotel, except Rome. (See review of Grand Hotel de Minirva on TripAdvisor)

Not worth the money

I read the review on "RUN" and she summarized the poor customer service at Indus. Our India trip seemed like a good deal except that the hotels were marginal and totally inconvenient, which meant we had little or no opportunity to do things on our own. They failed to follow their own itinerary, gave us almost no free time, and forced us to go to high pressure sales efforts for marble and tugs that wasted 3 hours. The optional tour descriptions were not accurate. our last 2 days were wasted riding in a bus and then they dumped us off at the airport 10 hours early, with no options offered. Worse was their customer service, who like "RUN" consisted of the run around from Tanya and Tardes. They ran me around for a month and then blew me off. They don't think much of customer service, it was terrible, they only want your money not your satisfaction. I would avoid Indus at all costs.

RUN!!!

Been a nightmare, and we haven't even left yet. And may not get to if Indus has it''s way. It's a long story, but I will try to keep it short. We booked our tour to Australia back in Nov/Dec 2018, paid the deposit, and then paid the remainder in Jan 2019. Indus sent me a receipt/invoice showing I owed ZERO now for the tour and that it was paid in full. Our tour is set to depart 4-16-19, and since Jan I have been thinking all is well and calling/emailing every so often to ask when our flights/travel docs will be issued. They kept telling me 45 days before the departure. Well guess what? Yesterday Tayna (my tour coordinator) contacts me and tells me that due to a "glitch" in THEIR computer they will not release my tour and travel documents unless I pay almost another $1700!!! And is it now about 3 WEEKS from departure, so I have very little recourse to do much. Seriously?!? I spent hours on email and calls trying to explain that they cannot just arbitrarily try to charge me more, especially since it was THEIR error. They just kept insisting that I had to pay the money or they would not issue my travel documents. I then found a policy, ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE, that says they will not change the price after a final payment is made (which I did back in Jan 2019). I have forwarded all my documents, and the policy from the website, and have asked for either a full refund or issuance of my trip/travel docs. Tanya assured me yesterday that a manager was looking into this, and that I would have an answer by this morning. The next day, I got a call back from Tanya: they are refusing to give a full refund or release the trip unless I pay because they claim they didn't change anything (despite the fact that they are not demanding double what I've already paid) and that the new demand for additional payment does not constitute a price change; despite the documents I have from them with a zero balance since Jan 2019. This looks an awful lot like fraud, extortion, and illegal seizure of funds. I just want my money back at this point because I've been dealing with this since 3-20-19; and I honestly no longer feel that this company would be a safe one to travel with/through. If they acting like this, and doing these very questionable things, before I even leave; what in the world would they try to pull when I am no longer Stateside?!?

This is an addendum to my previous review: The manager, Tordes, spoke with the owner and reached out to me on 3-27; we have agreed upon a mutual resolution and Indus has agreed refunded me in full.

Canadian based Indus Travel offers budget friendly tours around the world for everyone from adventurous travelers to families. Their mission is to offer quality tours at affordable prices while providing outstanding service to their clients and to earn their loyalty & operate their travel business in an environmentally responsible, ethical and sustainable way. What Makes Indus Travel Stand Out? customizable itineraries use of travel planners and local experts to help design your trip balance between sightseeing and local immersion Their most popular tour offering is what they term “Unbundled Tours” where you book a group trip - meaning better price, but have the power to then customize your experience along the way. Not everyone may want to see xyz, so their itinerary structure allows everyone to tailor their travel experience. And it helps you choose those experiences, accommodations, meals etc that are within your price range. This does mean you’re dependent on the Indus guides on the ground handling a lot of complicated individual schedules effectively. Indus reviews indicate that this isn’t always a smooth ride, and often confusions arise both on the part of the traveler and the Indus organizers. Indus travel planners are available to help you design an ultra customized journey, using local experts. If you’re looking for something classic and cultural on a budget, they are a great choice. They strive to create balanced itineraries that include classic sightseeing as well as unique and authentic stops. Who Will Enjoy Traveling With Indus? Budget travelers Travelers looking for options and flexibility Ages 18-30 Budget travelers looking for an exciting group trip, but with the flexibility to “choose your own adventure”. Group sizes are kept small and they are popular with couples and small family groups. This style of group travel doesn’t always go smoothly however, so you’ll enjoy the experience more if you have an opened minded attitude and are ok with occasional changes on the ground. Indus crafts travel experiences with cost efficiency in mind, so if you’re expecting something more premium, Indus might not be for you. Top Destinations They organize trips around the world; top custom tour destinations include India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Dubai, Peru. Excursions in destination depend largely on what you and your travel companions decide you want to see and do. Indus Travel Style The Indus travel style is about combining the best of independent travel with packaged travel. They will help arrange flights and accommodations, and your input creates a curated experience for your meals and activities. Hotels are usually in the 3 star range. They use a combination of public transportation such as ferries, trains, and buses, as well as their own coaches. These are comfortable, but usually with few upscale amenities. The max number of people on their tours is 22 according to the website, however be forewarned that several reviews state they had over 30 people on their tour. If group size is a very important factor for you when selecting a tour, you might want to consider looking around before deciding on Indus. Why Choose a Tour With Indus? If you are a budget traveler interested in a cost cutting travel solution, Indus is a great choice. Because they are specifically designed to be budget friendly, this does mean you might have to put up with some quirks along the way, so an easy-going attitude is good to have if choosing Indus. While their sales and customer service teams have some negative reviews, their guides on the ground are generally found to be knowledgeable and helpful.

Great experience

The entire tour experience was much better than expected. The accommodations were great. Food was always fresh and tasty. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Itinerary was fantastic. I'm putting together a group from church to go again next year!

I loved having a Messianic Jew as our tour guide. He made the history and geography of the Holy Land come to life! We stayed in wonderful hotels with views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea. The food was amazing. I loved this tour and would recommend it to anyone.

Very disappointed on many fronts

Very disappointed on many fronts. Had absolutely no help to buy clothes and toiletries when luggage was delayed for 5 days. I all heard from tour coordinator is that there was nothing that could be done. hotel had no clothes or toiletries to purchase. Tour group kept changing so never had a cohesive group. Jordanian Tour guide was awful--just sat on the bus and played on his phone. Israeli tour guide talked too much and we did not have time to actually visit sites. Bethlehem trip was 5 minutes at a church but not the site of Jesus birth. Got the sense that guide and driver received a kickback from the restaurants and souvenir shops that we had to go to regardless of whether the group wanted to go or not. I will never travel again with Pilgrim Tours.

It was perhaps the best decision of our trip!

I returned home from Italy nearly a month ago yet find myself continually drifting back to my experiences there. A few friends and I travelled to the Emilia-Romagna region to participate in an event and found ourselves with a few free days to explore before returning home. With limited knowledge as to the region, we turned to our host for a recommendation and were introduced to Ramona and her Team at Buonjourney Italy. Originally communicating through e-mail, Ramona crafted together an itinerary for our approval. Her attention to detail, concern for our preferences and variety of activities presented immediately convinced us to place ourselves in her capable hands. It was perhaps the best decision of our trip! Ramona and her Team greeted us promptly that first morning and we were treated like Kings from that point forward. The guides were knowledgeable, professional and personable. Our tour traversed sprawling countryside, medieval villages and historic landmarks along the way. Interspersed throughout the days were lunches, dinners and wine and cheese tastings that left our bellies full yet yearning for more. I cannot thank Ramona and our “friends” at Buonjourney Italy enough for helping to make our experiences in Italy so memorable.

We highly recommend this experience for anyone who enjoys food, wine, art and history.

We enjoyed learning about cheese, wine, olive oil and other traditional foods of Italy's Emilia-Romagna region. We especially loved making pasta by hand, guided by award-winning professionals, all the while surrounded by Roman and Renaissance culture and the most spectacular scenery imaginable. It is an opportunity for those who cherish authenticity. We highly recommend this experience for anyone who enjoys food, wine, art and history.

We would highly recommend Buonjourney Italy if you want to see the best that Italy has to offer.

This past October we had the pleasure of seeing the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy and all it has to offer. Historic sites, Castles, small intimate villages, religious sites, vineyards and a class to learn how to cook authentic pasta were just some of the highlights of a tour that will never be forgotten. Beyond that we made life long friends with Ramona and her merry band of tour guides who made our days fun, educational and of course tasty! We loved this region for an authentic Italian experience with the addition of getting a sense of the pride of the people and local flavors. We will return for sure. We would highly recommend Buonjourney Italy if you want to see the best that Italy has to offer.

Edible Italy: Culture and Cooking
Edible Italy: Culture and Cooking Trip Type: Small Group Tour
Buonjourney focuses on providing homey, friendly, and enjoyable culinary tours in the region of Romagna, Italy. What Makes Them Stand Out? Ever heard of Romagna? If not (and most haven’t) Buonjourney aims to change that. This small region in Italy is a haven of history and culinary wonders. You’ll be escorted around by a true local, welcomed like a friend, as they introduce you to the essence of Italian hospitality in Romagna. Their emphasis is on Italian food and cooking, and you’ll leave having been immersed in the amazing world of Italy’s regional culinary traditions. Who Travels With Them? Those travelers who are looking for something a bit different, and are especially interested in learning the ins and outs of Italian regional cuisine will enjoy traveling with Buonjourney. This would be an especially attractive Italy tour experience for those visiting Italy for a second or third time. Because while you’ll have an amazing time, you are confined to one region, and a little known one. So you won’t see the major Italian sights everyone knows. Groups are a max of 12 allowing for an intimate experience and attentive guides. Where Do They Operate? They are very specifically focused in a unique little region in the northeast of Italy. You’ll visit local villas, winerys and cellars, local farms, cheese makers, and browse product at markets alongside your hosts neighbors. Why Travel With Them? If you’ve already “seen and done” the Big Three of Italy, and are now seeking a more homey, localized introduction to the culture, this is the perfect tour company for you. Their tours are culinary focused, so if you’re not into cooking, this might not be the kind local experience you’ll love. However it’s perfect if you enjoy learning and want to get to know the “real” Italy with friendly groups and guides.

Our Tour Manager was excellent and provided amazing assistance and information. He was personable, knowledgeable and always available for questions or just conversation of the day's events. However, our group of 7 would never take another trip with Great Rail. One would believe that a tour of this cost would include handling luggage. As most people were Seniors, it was very difficult, tiring and frustrating handling luggage. As a result, nobody in our group would recommend Great Rail journeys as a provider with a focus on their guests needs to make the journey a nice memory.

Definitely not a trip for Seniors. No consideration or assistance given to travellers handling luggage.

Excellent!

Just came back from the Classic Glacier Express trip to Switzerland. Excellent in practically all respects and our tour manager, Joe Mutch did a tremendous job and struck a perfect balance being authoritative without being authoritarian. You definitely felt looked after but without unnecessary restrictions and indeed we were encouraged on our free days to explore and useful suggestions were offered. The only criticism of the whole trip was that the food in the two hotels outside Switzerland, on the route there and the route back, was a little disappointing. But then both hotels were right opposite the train station so were probably being chosen for other than their culinary proficiency. The food in the hotels in Brig and Chur, on the other hand, was very good.

Absolutely fabulous!

Just returned from our Jungrau Express holiday in Switzerland. Absolutely fabulous! Our Tour Manager Mark Buxton was excellent, giving support, help and advice where needed without intruding into our holiday. We were encouraged to see that some of our fellow travelers were on their second or third Great Rail holiday and one couple were even on their fourteenth! Off to book our holiday for next year with Great Rail Journeys.

Their tagline “20 travelers, 10 days” speaks to the basic premise of their tour approach. Their tours are never more than 20 travelers, and each day is packed with activities, optional excursions, and local experiences. What Makes Them Stand Out? With a youthful persona, the perception is one of trying to make group travel “cool” again, or at least make this style of travel accessible to young professionals. This means a focus on what young travelers value, while maintaining an integrity and aspect of comfortability. Trips focus on staying authentic and local, offer customizable experiences, and the promise of meeting people with similar interests. That said this is not a “budget hostel” youth travel experience. They recognize that their traveler may have “been there done that” when it comes to backpacking through Europe. Accommodations reflect comfortability as well as affordability. Who Travels With Them? Their tour are specifically designed and geared toward “young professionals”. Travelers in the 18 - 39 range will definitely enjoy traveling with them. You can search for itineraries based on 4 basic traveler types: “Partier”, “Relaxer”, “Sightseer”, or “Hiker”. This helps them match you with fellow travelers with similar temperaments. Tours are very open to solo or single travelers. Where Do They Operate? They currently provide different guided tour experiences in Italy and Portugal. Trips are headed by an Ambassador who will lead you through the itinerary, and optional activities are available throughout the 10 days, for an additional cost. Why Travel With Them? If you are a young professional seeking a tailored trip where you can meet other like minded travelers, but you hate the travel planning process, this is a great company to consider. Their destinations are quite limited, but they are dedicated to making sure all the details and logistics are taken care of.

Italy Monograms Trip

Hands down this was the smoothest any vacation, local or abroad, has gone for me. Monograms did not miss a thing, from the nice hotels to the friendly local hosts. We would have missed so much had we booked a trip by ourselves. The local guides were also top notch, with a clear high reputation among their colleagues and in the city with which they live. With that, we felt like royalty with drivers picking us up in a Mercedes each time. The whole trip was professional, information and enjoyable. Monograms has my business moving forward.

Scary part of Paris and horrible customer service!!

DO NOT USE THEM!!! We trusted Monograms to book our vacation. They put us in a very sketchy part of Paris. We got MUGGED literally right around the corner from the hotel. There are also homeless people sleeping on beds on the sidewalk. We called Monograms customer service and they told me to calm down. Excuse me, did you just pay thousands of dollars to get mugged because your hotel is in a part of Paris full of hoodlums? Then their customer service rep put me on hold for 15 minutes and never came back on the line. My wife called back and the guy basically said it's the weekend, we can't do anything. DO NOT USE MONOGRAMS. My wife has been looking forward to this vacation for six months and now is afraid to leave the hotel. A lady on the sidewalk says this happens in this part of town ALL THE TIME. Last night we stayed at the Intercontinental Paris Le Grand, and I can tell you in that district I saw no homeless people sleeping on the street, no muggings and lots of police. Oh, by the way, we paid extra for the upgraded hotel option; I'd hate to see their standard pick.

Monograms, one of the Globus family of brands, offers classic vacation packages to many of the world’s most popular destinations. The company has many years of experience creating packaged tours and is based in Colorado, USA. What Makes Monograms Stand Out? It can be difficult to find a company that successfully marries two seemingly disparate ways of travel: independant or self guided and classic group travel. But at Monograms this is exactly the task they have set for themselves, and their positive reviews and large variety of products would seem to say they do a solid job. With Monograms there is no need to choose between self guided or group travel. You can personalize your experience as well - an important element for many of today’s travelers. Themes include Family travel, Food & Wine, Cruises, and Active. Monograms prides themselves on the all-inclusive nature of travel planning, pre-organizing everything from your airport transfer to your activities and meals. They also provide a Local Hosts program, which is basically like an in-destination concierge. Who Will Enjoy Traveling With Monograms? Monograms is ideal for travelers who don’t love group travel but also highly dislike the stress of arriving in a destination and having to plan everything themselves. It’s for the traveler who wants the freedom of a private couple or family getaway and the comfort of a local guide who can assist with everything from restaurant recommendations to skipping the line at major attractions. Monograms is Globus’ mid-tier brand in terms of pricing and thus travelers span across many different age groups. Many couples choose Monograms for a romantic trip to places like Italy and France, although they also offer specialized packages for families. Most Monograms packages are a mix of group sightseeing tours and independent exploration. This can result in some very large touring groups when visiting popular tourist attractions like the Louvre in Paris, for example. However, most of their trips still afford some level of flexibility to explore a destination on your own terms. Top Destinations You can travel with Monograms to many different locations in Europe, Australia, Asia, South/Central America, and Africa. Perhaps their most well-known destination is Italy, and they also offer some unique trips to Australia, specifically to areas other similar tour companies don’t operate. Monograms Travel Style At Monograms, their travel style is about providing you with a no hassle private vacation, catered to your interests. Everything from honeymoon vacations to family vacations are available through Monograms. When you use Monograms, you can elect to have the help of a travel agent, or book a pre-planned package. Why Choose a Monograms Tour? For a well rounded trip, designed for you, and with an attentive local host there to make your journey as seamless and stress free as possible, Monograms is the perfect company. These tips are mostly private, so ideal for families, couples, and honeymooners - though during some days on the itinerary you will join up with a larger group for guided day tours Monograms is all about providing personal touches, and arranging a trip for you that matches your travel style. Providing some personal input and likes / dislikes / must sees is going to take your Monograms tour from “ordinary” to extraordinary, so these trips are best suited to travelers who like to be involved with planning the itinerary.

It was marvellous!!

I have just gotten home from Turkey Unplugged on my second tour with OTG. It was marvellous!! Great accommodation, great itinerary, perfect Hot Air Ballooning as optional extra but what made the trip was our guide Reggie! His knowledge and fantastic sense of humour and care for us made the group feel like old friends. Highly recommend the tour and if possible request Reggie as your guide!

Excellent

We have just come back from Thailand, having booked the Bangkok, Beach and Beyond tour. Our tour guide, Mhor, was excellent, extremely knowledgeable, very funny, and brilliant English! Everything was organised even down to the food as they were aware that my daughter had a nut allergy. The hotels were beautiful, each day was packed with different experiences to really see Thailand in all it's glory. It's given us a glimpse of each part of Thailand and we are making plans to go back to Chiang Mia as that was our favourite! We even got to play with the elephants at one of the sanctuaries. I would highly recommend On The Go and Thailand.

On the Go Tour is a British-based tour company that runs primarily guided tours around the world but will also help fashion independent travel itineraries.  What Makes On the Go Tours Stand Out? They have a large number of holiday styles, including a large number of options for independent travellers looking for tailor made trips. On the Go Tours is very accommodating and popular amongst solo and single travellers, with most of their escorted group tours requiring no single supplement. Specialty tours, such as Tintin tours to Egypt, Jordan, and India, based on the adventures of the famous Belgian cartoon-book boy-journalist-explorer, are one of the main things that sets On the Go Tours apart. Who Will Enjoy Travelling with On the Go Tours? Those travellers who gravitate to busy, lively, itineraries, that also allow for spontaneity, and are budget conscious will love travelling on holidays with On the Go Tours. They are also very popular among those interested in festivals around the globe. These events are often large scale and can be difficult to navigate, find accommodation, and stay safe. On the Go Tours provides a way to take the stress out of planning to attend a festival. And not just music, but Carnival at Rio; the vibrant Holi Festival in India; the Dragon Boat Festival in China; the Nadaam Festival in Mongolia; and the Boryeong Mud Festival in South Korea, along with many others. So if you are culturally curious and enjoy the idea of large crowds attending the same meaningful event, On the Go Tours would be a great place to start for these travel plans. Travellers with On the Go Tours are mostly age 28 and up, and you can expect a wide range of ages and backgrounds among the group. These holidays are relatively active in nature - a lot of walking and time outdoors, On the Go does offer some family itineraries suitable for children. They also actively solicit single travelers, and don’t require a single supplement. Nationality wise, they attract mainly British, New Zealand, Australian, North American, and South African. Top Destinations On the Go Tours operate around the world, with a large majority of holidays offered in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Australia, and Central and South America are also popular. On the Go Tours Travel Style The On the Go Tours travel style is a combination of coach travel, 3 to 4 star accommodation, some camping, walking and cycling. These tours will keep you active, and in most cases you will carry your own luggage, so pack light, and if you are relatively physically fit you will enjoy the days far more. They have 5 “Holiday ranges” to help you determine the tour type that is going to be best suited to you. 1. Signature - The On the Go Tours Signature Collection is a group of higher end offerings. Accommodations will be in 4-5 star hotels, and groups are kept smaller, with a maximum of 24 people. Destinations are primarily focused in Asia, with a few departures in Europe including Iceland, Russia, and Italy. Peru is also available. 2. Budget - Budget tours are a key component of On the Go Tours. These trips are for active backpackpackers interested in meeting similar travelers in a larger group (max 32). You will be carrying your own luggage, and using a variety of transportation including overland vehicles, public buses and trains. Accommodation is in tented camps and 2-3 star hotels. Most meals are up to you and not included in the itinerary or base price. 3. Handpicked - These trips visit classic and iconic sights, utilizing locally run tours (where you might join up with other tour takers, not exclusively your own tour companions). Partners on the ground help On the Go craft a unique vision for your itinerary. Groups are small, around 28 people max. 4. Active - Active holidays with On the Go tours are intended for those travellers interested in being outdoors and have an adventurous frame of mind. Whether you’re traveling by bike, or on foot trekking or hiking. Travellers who are physically fit and used to stretching their limits will find the most enjoyment on an Active trip with On the Go Tours. Active holidays are offered in Asia and the Middle East primarily, with outings also available in Croatia, Turkey, and Africa. 5. Independent - For those travellers who aren’t as excited about a group tour and like the idea of being on their own but with a professionally planned itinerary, On the Go Tours has you covered! These bespoke tours allow you to have input over what you see, and the pace of your journey. Expect to pay a little bit more for this experience (bespoke tours with On the Go can be considered akin to their Signature Collection), but having the expertise behind your itinerary is all worth it. Why Choose an Escorted Tour with On the Go Tours? On the Go is a perfect starting place for active travellers who maybe don’t know quite yet the kind of journey they’re looking for and want a lot of choice. Prices are kept in the low to mid budget range, and on most tours you can expect a lot of inclusions - this does means there is quite a bit less free time available during the itinerary to explore on your own, so if this matters a lot to you, On the Go may not be the best fit. From tours that specialise in festivals and events (both obscure and popular, musical and cultural), to bespoke holidays designed for you personally, to extended overland journeys, On the Go Tours has tons of holiday types to choose from. Destinations cover a wide range of popular, classic, and off the beaten path locations from less traveled areas of Eastern Europe to the Middle East and Africa. The age range is diverse, and solo travelers are very welcome and actively encouraged to join On the Go Tours. This is a great tour company for meeting new people who have like-minded approaches to travel.

There are so many great things to say about my European trip of a lifetime. The people that made it was my fellow topdeckers and of course the Fab Tour guide Matt Stewart. This is a trip that I will never forget, so many lovely memories I will cherish forever. We was very lucky with Matt because he really took time to talk to us and make us all feel relaxed with each other and asked us what we wanted to do. He was so knowledgable about all the places we went to, I remember thinking to myself this guy is pretty cool the fact he knows so well about the history and culture of each place especially the amount of cities we travelled to. Matt made the trip fun, interesting, exciting and I hope that if I was to ever do a top deck again one day he would be the tour guide or I think I would be disappointed. Have recommended top deck to so many people, memories I will have for a lifetime.

Choosing an Italy Tour Company

Over 100 tour companies on Stride visit Italy. Several are global operators, however some are known for Italy tours specifically, such as Perillo, Tourissimo, and Italian on Tour. Italy is a classic travel destination, with hundreds of historic sites and well known, iconic tourist destinations as well as a welcoming and open culture that begs to be experienced by going to small local restaurants and cafes.

Given this, many tours of Italy focus on a healthy combination of tourist attractions and unique local communities where the true spirit of Italy comes alive.

Tour operators that visit Italy often have several tour options to choose from - some will be best for first time visitors who don't want to miss the "Big Three" (Florence, Rome, and Venice), while others will be more attractive to repeat visitors looking to expand into other regions beyond the classic sites of Tuscany.
