"It was such a pleasure to work with Annie from start to finish. Annie worked patiently with my very particular husband for a good month to plan a 19 day trip. (I think they bonded) We visited Hong Kong, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. EVERY luxury hotel was just over the top beautiful. We took airplanes, 2 cruise boats, and a sea airplane to visit each country. There was always a knowledgeable and interesting English speaking guide to pick us up. She planned interesting tours and gave us plenty of leisure time. She also texted us everyday to see how we were doing! At one stop we wanted to change a tour planned for another and she managed to do that as well......Annie actually met us in Hanoi and we enjoyed a dinner together at one of her favorite restaurants, then took me shopping for a silk dress....really! Thank you Annie for the best trip ever. I will highly recommend you and Exotic Voyages."

"I've just returned from my trip to China, a week ago. I've seen many-many interesting places of Guangdong and Guangxi provinces. But most of all i liked my 2-days trip to Longshen villages with my guide Frank from chinahighlights. The day before our trip has started, in Guilin, Frank met me in hotel and told about our journey. Next 2 days we visited traditional ancient chinese villages (the biggest from them are Ping'an and Dazhai), walking around them, saw the rice-terraces landscape (it was really unbelievable). Also we had a hiking between villages, and stayed at night at ZhongLiu village. I haven't seen any tourists in this village, even chinese tourists. It was fantastic cause we've seen real chinese life of local people, including, for example, planting vegetables, collecting tea). Very quiet, fresh air, natural food. Yes, in this village almost no shops, no souvenirs, but you dont need them. All around you a hundred times better. I advice all, who wants to see real chinese life, visit this place, especially this village, stay at night there. Thanks very much to my guide Frank and chinahighlights for this trip!"

  • Exploring an Uninhabited Island: One of the highlights of our trip was venturing to an uninhabited island in the Galapagos. We had the opportunity to explore untouched landscapes, encounter unique wildlife, and truly immerse ourselves in the pristine beauty of nature.
  • Giant Tortoises in the Santa Cruz Highlands: The Santa Cruz Highlands provided us with an incredible experience as we came face-to-face with giant tortoises. These majestic creatures, known for their longevity and impressive size, roamed freely in their natural habitat, allowing us to observe them up close and appreciate their gentle nature.
  • Charles Darwin Station: The Charles Darwin Station offered us a deeper understanding of the Galapagos Islands' unique ecosystem and ongoing conservation efforts. We had the chance to learn about the groundbreaking research conducted there and witness the dedicated work being done to protect the islands' fragile environment.
  • Thrilling Kayaking in Tortuga Bay: The exhilarating kayaking expedition in Tortuga Bay was a highlight that filled us with a sense of adventure. Paddling through the crystal-clear waters, we admired the stunning coastal scenery, encountered marine life, and appreciated the tranquility of this picturesque location.

"We just returned from a wonderful 3-week trip in Ecuador that included Quito, Amazon jungle, touring down the Andes to Cuenca, and Galapagos cruise. Our travel agent Alvaro did an excellent job helping us plan our trip - he was very knowledgeable, patient, and kind. All our guides were excellent, special shout-out to Christian, Sergio (aka Mike Tyson), and Pablo. Our favorite experiences were the Napo Cultural Center in the Amazon, biking/hiking at the Cotopaxi and Chimborazo volcanoes, and cruising the Galapagos."

  • Travel is the movement of people between relatively distant geographical locations, and can involve travel by foot, bicycle, automobile, train, boat, bus, airplane, or other means, with or without luggage, and can be one way or round trip. Travel can also include relatively short stays between successive movements.
  • The origin of the word “travel” is most likely lost to history. The term “travel” may originate from the Old French word travail, which means ‘work’. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the first known use of the word travel was in the 14th century.
  • It also states that the word comes from Middle English travailen, travelen (which means to torment, labor, strive, journey) and earlier from Old French travailler (which means to work strenuously, toil). In English we still occasionally use the words “travail”, which means struggle. According to Simon Winchester in his book The Best Travelers’ Tales (2004), the words “travel” and “travail” both share an even more ancient root: a Roman instrument of torture called the tripalium (in Latin it means “three stakes”, as in to impale).

  • Some companies, such as ROW Adventures focus primarily on kayaking and their trips involve camping and outdoors activities.
  • Sea kayaking, can be exhilarating, but exhausting! Make sure you’re up for a day of rigorous rowing and feeling it in your upper arms the next morning.
