Lodging Level Descriptions
Lodging Level is an indication of the typical accommodation quality you can expect on your tour. Because all tours on Stride are multi-day, accommodation levels may vary, even on a single tour. Some nights you might be in a hotel, and some in a homestay. Some tours involve a mix of camping and hostels.
Camping
Trips labeled as “Camping” typically involve most nights sleeping in tents (sometimes permanent tented sites) or in rustic cabins and lodges. Depending on the tour, you might be expected to help with camp setup/breakdown and/or carry your own equipment. Some camps have creature comforts, such as indoor plumbing, but many are more basic. Always check direct with your tour opreator for more details.
Basic (2 star)
Trips labeled “Basic” mean you'll stay in no-frills, but clean and comfortable, hotels or guesthouses. A "Basic " trip might also involve one or two nights of camping. These trips may include a night or two on public transportation such as inter-city trains or buses.
Value (3 star)
Trips labeled “Value” fall into a mid-range budget and the accommodations can range from comfortable lodges, guesthouses, and homestays to three star hotels. Very few "Value" trips will include one or two nights of camping at comfortable sites.
Premium (4 star)
"Premium" lodging indicates accommodation levels of at least three and more likely, four stars. While not all hotels will be 'luxury', they will be quite comfortable by western standards and still provide good value for the money.
Luxury (5 star)
Trips labeled "Luxury" are usually in a higher budget tier. All accommodations are in four star hotels, local boutique lodges or comfortable homestays. Tour companies will use a mix of well-known western hotel brands and unique, local luxury properties. Some "Luxury" trips might also include a night or more of luxury tented sites, such as those you would find while on safari.
