"It's hard to describe how lucky we are to have been able to work with Stephanie in planning our honeymoon to Japan. From the very beginning, Stephanie was friendly, flexible, and an absolute wealth of knowledge. We had several meetings with her leading up to our trip to come up with the perfect itinerary. Throughout this, Stephanie was mindful of our budget, without sacrificing anything. During our trip, Audley was available at all hours to help with anything and everything which was such a relief to know we had that resource available to us. I truly cannot imagine having planned this trip without all of Stephanie's guidance and knowledge- and cannot imagine taking another big trip like this without the help of Audley. Thank you again!"

What travelers are saying

"Kensington Tours is a vendor with nasty, pushy old school sales tactics and sketchy opaque pricing to get you fleeced in my opinion, read on ! Kensington Tours pre-charged my Amex Centurian card a staggering $85,985.00. for 6 nights without international airfares in one cost-opaque invoice. This consisted of a simple assembly of 9 hotel room nights in 3 locations, 6 in-country economy flights, 3 airport pickup/drop offs, a 2 day 'tour' and a 1-day expedition on a small boat. It was so bad we declined the 2nd tour day and boat trip. The full retail cost of the trip, which would include profits to Kensington Tours, is estimated at $30,140.47 versus their invoice of $ 85,985.00. That is a staggering overcharge of $54,859.43. see details below. The experience should have been amazing for this amount of money, but the cost was so egregious for the average to low quality of the tours, flights, boat, and cheap or kerb-side restaurants and food establishments I decided to assemble the full retail price for these activities by speaking directly with all the major vendors. These are mostly time-specific cost comparisons on the days we were there. Both hotel general managers informed me the costs were about the same as on the previous days for the day extensions they quoted. i.e. peak season pricing. The full retail costs I've assembled would include any tour outfits profits on the hotel, airfare and lunch as they buy wholesale. It should be a close season-specific estimate. This was verified by a call from Kensington Tours Director of Asia sales who confirmed she couldn't reveal room prices because they have contracts with the hotels for discounts over retail. Kensington Tours provided near zero value, I also didn't get the typical additional hotel $ benefits, comped amenities and prestige of direct Centurion bookings, instead the reservations showed as a lowly Kensington Tours operator booking. Kensington Tours unilaterally declares their sales brochure is a de facto contract agreement without either attaching the contract doc to my knowledge or getting a counter signature, i.e. it's not a contract and would never hold up. They attempt to hide behind 'private discount contracts' with hotels and insinuated to me costs were 3x reality The comped me back $30,000.00 because I have some leverage, it should have been $55,000.00. I'm still considering whether to file a quick suit, they'll eat at least the balance defending against me in attorney fees. I'll see if I can be bothered to do that. I probably will, to let others know to be careful and not use an outfit like this. Hopefully save folks their hard earned money. My bottom line, Kensington Tours is a disgrace run the other way. "I recently took the Best of Australia and New Zealand tour...added on Fiji and a day in Auckland...with Discovery Nomads. During the booking process they were attentive and helpful. However, the nightmare began after paying for the tour! They told us we would receive our itinerary 10 to 20 days before our trip. It was sent 4 days before departure. We booked a tour for the trans alpine train from Christchurch to Queensland which we were told after the fact, that it did not exist. Furthermore, they failed to make a transfer reservation from the airport to our hotel in Christchurch. It took a week of constant sending of emails to get credit. They never answered them! Credit was finally issued almost 25 days later. The nightmare continues...we had to call each shuttle ride to confirm as their confirmation numbers were wrong and the local company could never find our reservations. So now add the cost of all the phone calls! Furthermore, when we reached out to Discover Nomads to help us while traveling, they NEVER answered their phone or a request for refund by email. We were completely ignored and left on our own. The only saving grace was we were traveling in English speaking countries. Can you imagine this happening to you in a country that doesn't speak English? Nightmare!!!!! And no assist from this horrible company. The only communication from them was for flight delays which we found out first by checking into the airport and one response asking for how much I paid for my transfer and proof of payment. I explained that it was all electronic and requested a refund of my original payment...heard nothing again from them until seven days later they sent an email stating that a meeting point had changed. So they had my email, just refused to deal with refunds or help. In addition, they had us waiting 15 hours for a hotel room in two flights. We were not allowed to stay in hotel lobby for so long and we arrived at 1:00am. We ended up paying for an early check in. Also, all internal flights were booked with 7.5 kg cabin luggage only. We had to pay baggage fees of $45 per bag. The costs of this trip were way higher then we anticipated. We had quotes for private tours just $2,000 higher...we should have booked that as we probably spent close to that amount in other fees!! TAKE MY WARNING...DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!"

What travelers are saying

"My experience with TruTravels has been one of the best travel experiences to date. I was a little concerned about having a small group - but the tour leaders have made every activity fun and engaging. I would definitely say they are friends. The organisation and local knowledge was great, they were great fun whilst remaining professional and in control. The nights out in Canggu were great, getting to meet the other tour leaders and Tru staff meeting the other tour groups is a great idea. I really cannot stress enough how much of a great trip I've had with TruTravels. From booking, to pre-tour communications, through to the last 10 days - it has been well organised, managed and delivered by amazing guides. Thanks so much to Rianna, Marta and Jonny for their enthusiasm throughout the tour, their concern for when I was sick and generally for everything they did to make this an amazing Bali Experience. Much love for the tour guides!!!I would definitely recommend a trip with TruTravels!!"

London Tour Selection Trips

  • Choosing Central London as the basepoint of your trip will be easier and cheaper to move around the whole city and explore the major destination through the central area. The cost of accommodation is a bit higher, but it gets covered in what you save in traveling from distant hotels to the main hub, also saving you lots of time.
  • As soon as you reach London, get an Oyster card. You can get it from mostly tube stations and can preload an amount that you can use on the go during your travel. Once you reach the daily cap after 3 to 4 journeys, then you can travel around for free for the rest of your day.
  • You can also purchase an Oyster card online and have it mailed to you before you depart for London! But be sure to leave enough time to receive it.
  • Plan your trip well before arriving. Choose the desired destinations, mode of transportation for every point, make advanced bookings, etc. The busy city is always filled with people, and you will waste your time and money if you don't preplan your trip.
  • Don’t try to explore every point in the city in one trip. The enormous city is full of worth visiting places that you can’t completely explore even in weeks. So, plan your trip conveniently for 3 to 4 days and map your route accordingly.
  • London is undoubtedly not a cheap city, but there are various free to visit great spots in the city. There are various parks, gardens, and museums like the British Museum, National Gallery, National History Museum, Science Museum, and many more.
  • You can pay through your credit card, but no currency is acceptable other than a sterling pound, so keeps a sufficient amount with you.
  • Keep a travel adapter because the UK plugs are different from what you find in other European countries and the US & Canada.
  • Tips are usually not expected in the UK as the service charges are included in the restaurant bill, and they charge you 10 - 15% service charges in addition to the bill. But you can leave a 10% tip if you are happy with the service.
  • Choose your transportation mode according to the destination and the distance. The fastest and most convenient method is through the underground tubes that save you from the traffic hassle, but you will miss the sights in that. At times the distance between your destinations will be so small that it would be better to walk between the two stops instead of spending time in getting on and off the tube/bus.
  • One of the best ways of sightseeing across London is to rent a bike and go on paddling.
  • The unpredictable weather of the city demands you to keep an umbrella with you all the time. Winter or summer, you never know when it will start to rain, so pack your umbrella or raincoat with you and check the weather forecast every time you step out of your hotel.

Additional details

Best time to visit London

The largest city and capital of the England attracts millions of people annually, round the year. Every season has its own perks and benefits, and it depends very much on your interest that which time suits you the best. There is no offseason in London; hence, if you expect empty streets to have the region all to yourself is nearly impossible.

The busy city is the hub of the country and is always crowded with local or international visitors. There are times when the crowds are small when a huge bunch of tourists has not yet arrived but still expect crowd everywhere. No matter what time of the year you choose to travel to London, one thing that you have to keep with you always is an umbrella. The unpredictable weather in London can get you trapped in the rain anytime. So, better be ready for it.

Summertime, June – August, is the most popular time, and various people choose to travel to London during these months. The main reason is the pleasantly warm weather that will make you so comfortable that you won't mind the huge tourist crowds.

It is also the best time to visit if you want to visit the royal sites as they are open to the public during summer when the occupants are away for a holiday. From late June to early July you will have the chance to enjoy Harrods's summer sale and many other good summer sales.

Autumn, mid-September to November, brings with it a mild chill, signaling the approaching winters, but the weather is still comfortably pleasant. Streets are still crowded with tourists to some extent. If you are interested in experiencing the local culture, then you might get a chance to witness any of the annual events like Guy Fawkes Night, The Lord Mayor's Show, etc.

Being a low tourist season, due to the freezing temperatures, wintertime is best to get the discounted deals on everything, except December. The post-Christmas sales in January, along with discounts on airfare and accommodation, can let you save a lot. If you don’t mind all packed up in warm clothes, then you should travel to London during winter as that will help you save a lot in every aspect. Also, there will be fewer people and shorter queues for everything, saving you lots of time as well.

The second best time after summer is the spring season with its beautiful blooming flowers. Enjoy the beauty of royal gardens and parks with various colors inviting you to indulge in the natural beauty. The winter chill has left already, and the summer warmth welcomes you with open arms.
