"Our family of four, including two adult children, took the Bicycling: Day Trips to Paradise in Canada. This trip is entirely outsourced to the owners of the inn, there are no Road Scholar employees involved in the trip. Two of us have taken bicycle trips all over the world and the bicycling component of this trip was disorganized, haphazard and almost unsafe. We all filled out forms giving details regarding our bicycle fitting months before the trip. On the first day, the leader Stephen, went around the room and asked the same questions and said everyone would get fitted in the morning before we began the first ride. The morning brought a rack of bikes, all different types in various levels of readiness. There were road bikes, hybrid bikes, mountain bikes and e-bikes. The rides were all on paved surfaces and the mountain bikes were heavy and the additional suspension added weight. The bike I received had rust on the chain and rear sprocket. When I asked about it, was told they were waiting for another van to show up with tools and equipment. Once it arrived, they gave me the lubricant to spray on the rust. My wife’s bike would not shift into the high gear on the front sprocket. Instead of adjusting the derailleur, they suggested spraying it with lubricant. Our one son is over six feet and needed a larger frame bike, even though he detailed it in the bike form months ago, there was no bike to fit him. One of the guides, then went home and brought a larger bike that was a full suspension mountain bike for him. The bike was very heavy, hard to control on the road and he felt unsafe. After two days, one of the guides convinced Stephen that they could adjust a hybrid bike to fit him. Clearly there was no work done to prepare the bikes for the trip. Many of the bikes needed adjusting and all needed lubricant to function easily. For every day, there was a tray of snacks placed out for us to take along the ride. None of the bikes had any baskets or attached bags, so if you didn’t bring a small day pack, there was no way to carry the snacks. For lunch on the rides, they brought exactly one sandwich for each rider. Since most of us get hungry while doing a day of exercise, it would have been helpful to have a few extras. On one day, they ran out of sandwiches and one of the leaders that were riding with us did not get lunch. Do NOT take this trip if you are expecting it to be a bicycling trip. We have used VBT and Discovery Bicycle Tours many times over the past 25 years and they are excellent bike tour companies. Lastly, after sharing these details with Road Scholar after the trip, their response was weak at best. After doing the full reviews and having to call them, their response was to give us $200 credit after spending $8000 on this trip. Not only was that insulting, they assumed that I would take another trip with their organization."

"We just got back from our 11 day Safari trip ALL PLANNED by Rothschild! We were celebrating my 50th birthday and I’ve always wanted to go on a safari. I researched many companies and after speaking many times with Pam Langhoff we decided upon choosing Rothschild to put together our safari trip. Best decision!!! Rothschild made all the arrangements and thought of every detail. I really had no clue about planning a safari. Pam planned everything! Every time someone was there to pick us up or take us to our next destination or see us off. Our guide and safari truck was arranged for us. All the park fees and registrations were already paid for and all the accommodations were booked and paid for and all details explained. Everything was timely and we had full communication with a contact in Africa (because of the time change 8 hours ahead if we needed anything). We even had them book our flights. They do everything and think of everything we had no idea we had to apply for a Tanzania visa.. This company is first class and takes care of every detail. We had no idea about planning and where to go. Pam put together an awesome tailored itinerary for us. We stayed 2 nights in Tarangire National Park in really really cool nice tents, then 3 nights at Gibbs Farm in the Ngorongoro Highlands and went to the crater, then flew to the Serengeti and stayed 3 nights at Serengeti Safari camp in mobile tents!! What an experience! We saw the great migration! I woke up in the Serengeti on my 50th birthday! Pam and Rachel and all the Rothschild staff were easy to work with and ask questions (trust me I had many) they planned a magical trip for my husband and 2 teenagers!! We all agree this was our favorite trip we have ever been on! We will use Rothschild again for sure!"

"I just got home from a wonderful trip hosted by Chris Hill with Hands Up Holidays. He took myself and a few other travel advisors from around the US to Costa Rica to give us a taste in 4 days of what we could send our clients to do. Highlights from this trip were touring the amazing food markets in San Jose and then having a cooking class with Eric and Maria in Maria’s home and enjoying the fabulous ceviche and empanadas we made. Then touring the Finca Rosa Blanca organic coffee plantation and Poas volcanoe tour on our way to the Arenal area. Then we were able to enjoy Tabacon resort and thermal spa. Hot springs create warm pools and waterfalls through the property. Gorgeous and so restorative. Then we were able to explore the rain forest at Sky Hike and see the breathtaking views of the mountains, rain forest and Arenal lake while zip lining. Quite an adventure!! But what made this trip unique and so extra special was the volunteer opportunities we were able to participate in. It was only a short trip but the time we were able to work in the medical clinic that serves mostly refugees from Nicaragua was so rewarding. Being able to speak with the patients and see what this wonderful program FIMRC.org is doing first hand and contribute even if just for little while,really filled your heart. The medical facilities, day care, special needs programming and soup kitchen are all so beautifully run but with so much need for supplies, funds and extra hands. Thank you Chris for this experience!! What a special company this is! Chris Hill has built a wonderful company combining luxury travel, cultural immersion and volunteer opportunities and partnerships. This would be a wonderful experience for my clients that want to explore the world and gIve back to the communities they visit. My clients will love Hands Up Holidays."

"This we hoped would be the holiday of a lifetime for myself and my family and we chose Ker & Downey Africa to organize it for us, we were not disappointed. "Egypt – June 10 to June 16 We had planned this trip over almost two years. After looking at offerings from various vendors, we selected Memphis Tours. In a brief high-level summary, they did NOT disappoint! In rating this adventure on a 5-star scale, 5. One of my bucket list is to see the ancient wonders of the world. I’ve been to the site of the Colossus of Rhodes, the Acropolis in Athens, Colosseum in Rome, Machu Pichu, Great Wall of China, Stone Henge and now the antiques of Egypt. We structured this trip to see a lot; the Pyramids of Giza; The temples of Aswan and the temples of Luxor including the Valley of Kings. In a word WOW! To be up close, touch and otherwise experience these monuments some almost 5,000-year-old, is mind blowing. To understand the context in human history is amazing. Our trip included a mini-cruise on the Nile (WOW!). The boat the “Minerva” was good; including accommodations, staff and food. We flew from Cairo to Aswan, caught the boat, sailed from Aswan to Luxor; then flew back to Cairo to go home. Flights were included in our package. In the hope of not botching names, I’d like to call out three people: “Menna” who was our coordinator and overall “boss” of our trip. This young lady can do it all. “Mai” who was our guide in Cairo/Giza, so smart, feisty and knowledgeable in all things ancient Egypt. Lastly, but NOT least is “Waled” who took us to Aswan and Luxor. His passion and knowledge are amazing. I’m just glad there wasn’t a test after. Their in-depth knowledge of not just facts, but the whys are incredible. Memphis Tours – be glad you have these folks on your team!"
