Classic Ireland Highlights

Everyone loves Ireland - the ancient castles, the hospitable charm, the rolling green hills, the dramatic Cliffs of Moher, the sheepdogs and that famous stone at historic Blarney. See the best of the Emerald Isle on a small group tour and you’re ensured hidden gems, local expertise and perhaps even the chance to spend the night on the grounds of a castle!

Day 1, Dublin: Meet your fellow travelers and enjoy a traditional Irish meal, staving off jetlag and getting excited about the quintessential Ireland experiences to come.

Day 2, Dublin: Your choice - explore by car with your local, expert guide and see St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the General Post Office and O’Connell Street. Or, set off on a walking tour, with directions and recommendations from your guide, to see St. Stephen’s Green and Grafton Street.

Day 3, Kilkenny, Waterford: Experience the medieval ambience of the 12th-century Kilkenny, then take an easy walking tour of Ireland’s oldest city, Waterford. You might choose to take a guided tour of the Medieval Museum and sip wine in the ancient Mayor’s Wine Vault or tour the Waterford Crystal Factory.

Day 4, Killarney: Go ahead, kiss the Blarney Stone and receive the gift of eloquence - it’s an Ireland must. With your small group, however, you’ll be able to get in there, give it a smack, and get back to your sightseeing without a lot of hassle and commotion reminiscent of larger groups. Join an expert boatman for a private cruise on the lake, then have dinner with your new friends in one of your local guide’s favorite favorites.

Day 5, Ring of Kerry: Take your time today, enjoying the picture-perfect Ring of Kerry and its beautiful beaches and charming villages. Shop for local handicrafts in Gap of Dunloe and visit a family farm to watch the sheepdogs in action.

Day 6, Limerick: Roll through the Killarney National Park countryside in a traditional car, headed to pretty adare. Then, move on to Limerick to explore King John’s Castle and the Treaty Stone.

Day 7, Limerick: Your small group tour guide will unveil the 700-foot-high Cliffs of Moher, far from the larger tours, where you can enjoy the view in peace and quiet. Marvel over the Neolithic tombs and stark beauty of the Burren and take a privately guided tour of Galway.

Day 8, Kingscourt: You’re in Ireland, so don’t pass up the whiskey! Your small group will have the opportunity to visit a local distillery where you’ll learn about the product’s heritage and craftsmanship and, of course, toast your exclusive Ireland vacation.

Isla San Jose Kayak Tour

The days in La Paz were fun and seeing the whale sharks was incredible. The 6 days of kayaking and camping around Isla San Jose was out of this world. Beautiful camp spots where I could have spent the rest of my life gazing at the stars. The sunrise every morning and sunset every night was picture perfect. The campsites they chose were out of a movie, true paradise. I loved how remote the area was. We didn't see any other people other than a few local fisherman the entire week we were kayaking our way around the island. The waters were so clear and we saw marine wildlife everywhere we looked- turtles, stingrays, mantarays, dolphins, sea lions, whale sharks and so many beautiful fish I could never list them all here. The guides were happy to take us on whatever activity we wanted, and spent time beyond just the daily kayaking with us to ensure we had the adventure of a lifetime. They also gave me great pointers while we were on the water every day, so my paddling technique improved each day, and made the miles of paddling much more enjoyable with the ease of the techniques they shared with us. The food that was prepared for us each day was some of the best of my life. Traditional family recipes from the guides that ensured I got a real taste of Baja flavor. Hiking, snorkeling, and even accompanying our guides on spear fishing adventures were some of the amazing activities we did every day. Ruben, one of our guides would spear fish for our dinner and then the three of them would make us fresh sashimi on the beach with the snapper and parrot fish he caught! WOW! Thank you to Guillermo, Ruben, and Guerro for the most incredible trip I have taken in a long, long time. You guys are amazing and made this week one that I will remember for the rest of my life. I can't wait to take another trip with ROW, and more than that, I can't wait to come back to Baja and take another adventure with all of you! Read more

San Pedro de Atacama to Uyuni Tour (Budget) – 4 Days Roundtrip

Absolutely superb trip. I would put this tour up there with the best I have ever done. The scenery is otherworldly and travelling in a small group (a driver, an English-speaking guide and 5 tourists) is perfect.
Would recommend to everyone who considering doing this. Yes, the accommodation is basic, it gets very cold at night (I was there in early October) and there are a couple of very early starts, but it is all part of the adventure!
I only have 2 negative comments:
1. Our guide was in a bad mood on the final day (we had our suspicions as to why this might be, but they were only suspicions, so it wouldn’t be right to mention them here) and was quite rude to the whole group – in particular to the 2 Swiss people, for no reason whatsoever.
2. Our guide insisted on taking the salt flats perspective photos with our phones – because “it is too complicated with cameras”, but this means we got rubbish photos, with either the foreground or the background out of focus. (My advice is to use your camera. Set it on aperture priority and use a high f-stop number – at least 9 – and set your focus to ‘wide’, not ‘centre’. Finally, don’t put the camera too close to whatever is in the foreground and don’t zoom. (OK, maybe he was right – that does sound a bit complicated, but if you do it right, you’ll get amazing photos!)
Finally, I’m glad I’d spent 3 days in San Pedro to acclimatise before doing this tour, as the altitude didn’t affect me at all.
Anyway, book this tour – you won’t regret it.

The Isle of Skye

I just got back from a 3 week trip in the UK, where I actually took two Rabbies tours. The Isle of Sky was my first tour with them, and it exceeded my expectations. I really can't say enough about how great the experience was traveling with Rabbies.

One of the things that stood out to me about them, and why I decided to book with them, is the fact that I could make the experience fit my budget.

Rabbies lets you select your desired accommodation style, from hostels all the way up to nice hotels, and then they book it for you. And no meals are included during the trip, which again, for me, worked out really well, because I could seek out meals within my budget.

Our guide, Matthew was fantastic (if a bit of a fast driver!!). He had a great sense of humor, and was enormously knowledgable about the area - providing tons of historical and cultural context to what we were seeing, which was a huge plus for me. He also stopped frequently to let us take photos and stretch our legs.

The group was what really made this trip extra special though. We had travelers from all over the world, and a very wide range of ages. Several single travelers, a few families, and a smattering of couples. Everyone got along famously, and it was a shame we were only together for four days.

I can't wait to take another Rabbies tour when I go back to the UK!

Walk Japan Company Reviews

My son (age 18) and I walked a self-guided route on the Nakasendo earlier this month and had a wonderful time. Walk Japan's arrangements were faultless and the hiking guide was easy to follow and also provided us with some terrific historical background. The highlight was getting to Cafe Poppoya outside Kaida and being treated to a lovely breakfast and a terrific musical interlude by Mr. & Mrs Ando... very unexpected and a great memory to take home with us.
