- Surf conditions vary a lot depending on season, which can have a different impact on the waves in different places. In some destinations there will be very few waves out of season, whereas in others, out of season will be better for beginners with less large waves.
- Learning to surf can take time, and for many it takes longer than a few days to get the hang of it. If you’re ready to seriously improve, consider booking for longer than a week.
- Amounts of surfing time or lessons included vary dramatically from trip to trip. Check for your trip if you surf once a day, twice a day, or if you can grab a board anytime.
- Yoga can be a great way to relax those aching muscles post surf---check if there are any yoga sessions included in your tour.
- One of the best advantages of surf camps is that they’ll know the best spots to take you for your level and have all the experience in finding the best waves!
- Some camps cater for those who have more experienced - ask ahead of time if they provide lessons for groups with different levels of experience or ability.
- Surfing in colder water will require full wetsuits while in the tropics a rash-vest is usually sufficient. Surf camps usually provide these.
