What travelers are saying

"This trip is unbelievably fantastic. Two of the best rides of my life, were on this tour. The guides were very good and this was just the start, when we met them, at the hotel in Cortina. Cortina was the site of the 1956 Olympics, and is a small pretty village. Nothing was open the two nights we were there, so probably bad timing. Hotel was a typical ski village hotel, good Italian/German food, and very comfortable. Second day of biking was up an old railroad spur that is now a ski trail about 15-20 K up to a mountain pass called Cimabanche Pass, which is beautiful. We rode up in a snow storm, then rain, then finally clear skies. This was the number two best ride of my life. Starting out from the hotel in Cortina, up the old spur, through single track bike trails, past babbling brooks, up to this fabulous mountain pass. This is now where the fun starts. Mostly downhill on paved roads very little traffic, at good speeds, through the most spectacular valleys you would ever see on a bike ride. Breathtaking. It had to end back at the hotel for a big dinner. The best ride of my life was the last biking day out of Merano. We were bused up 1500 K, about 85-90 miles to Lake Resia, high up in the Dolomites, then rode around the lake, down, back to Merano. High mountain peaks, many valleys, small towns, many grape growing farms, scenery, the best, and cool brisk weather. This was truly a great bike tour, one I will never forget. The trip is rated easy, but maybe easy/moderate is closer. The Hotel in Merano is excellent, middle of old town, modern, has a thermal bath, rooms were very good. The town of Merano is a must see if in the area, small, beneath the high mountains of the Dolomites, good restaurants, lots of tourists."

What travelers are saying

"We joined the Intrepid “Real Italy Food Tour” and enjoyed it thoroughly. Our tour guide, Micol, was very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of good information. It seems Micol knew many of the staff of the venues we visited, including the pasta making class we attended. Our group of 11 travelers was extremely compatible, which greatly added to the fun and enjoyment."

What travelers are saying

"My wife and I did the six day Lofoten Islands tour offered by 50 Degrees North. The tour is simple, they provided us a rental car, accommodations for two nights each at three Rorbuer hotels scattered across the islands, and a couple of scheduled day tours. Most of the time, we were on our own to see the islands at our own pace. The islands are stunningly beautiful, and the tour planning made our travels hassle free. They even scheduled lunch for us at an organic goat farm, which may sound a little strange for a vacation like this, but that is only because you haven't tasted the cheese. (Best lunch ever!) At our request, they altered the tour slightly so that we could begin the tour in Svolvaer and end it six days later at the airport in Leknes. We can't imagine a more complete tour of the islands in six short days."

When is the best time to visit Sweden?

Sweden is a country with various wonders throughout the seasons. Your best timing will depend on what type of travel, activities and sights you’d like to experience.

If you’d like to visit during the sunny season, see the midnight sun and have lots of hours to sightsee, hike, relax, and bike, visit during May through September.

If you’d like to enjoy winter activities such as nordic skiing, seeing the Northern Lights or watching the snowfall, plan on visiting between November and March.

Who will enjoy traveling to Sweden?

Any type of traveler will enjoy visiting Sweden, as it hosts interesting cultural, historic, natural and culinary delights. In particular, Sweden is an excellent destination for active travelers who want to engage in biking, hiking, skiing and other activities. Someone who enjoys a less crowded experience with lots of access to nature and the outdoors will also enjoy a trip to Sweden.

Why should you travel to Sweden?

Sweden is a bit off the beaten track as a tourist destination, so those travelers seeking to get away from the crowds, spend some time outdoors, and learn about this unique Nordic country will love spending time touring Sweden.

You should travel to Sweden to taste the sea-based cuisines and delicacies of the country. You should arrive ready to spend time outside in beautiful landscapes and be active on your trip.

You should travel to Sweden to engage with interesting cities and a culture that lives amongst long summers and winters. You should travel to Sweden to get away from the crowds of Western Europe.

Sweden travel packing list

Along with the usual necessities when packing for a trip, a trip to Sweden wouldn’t be complete without including:

1) Hiking Books

2) Outdoor gear depending on the season (you could also rent there)

3) Layers (the weather can change and it’s good to be prepared)

4) A rain jacket

5) A swimsuit (for the summer months)

6) A great book (for relaxing after an action-packed day)

What is the weather like in Sweden?

Many people think of long winters when they think of Sweden. While this is true, the climate is milder than one would expect due to Sweden's proximity to the Gulf Stream.

The further north that you go, the more cold the climate. In general, the country has some humidity from its closeness to the ocean.

The summer can be quite pleasant with many sunny days. As with any trip, research the weather for your timeline to pack accordingly.
