Classic Tanzania Itineraries

Tanzania Safari in 1 Week

Tanzania is a great safari location for those heading on their very first safari. You’ll get an in depth wildlife experience, some classic African landscapes, and cultural experiences as well.

Day 1-2, Arusha: Stay in the luxurious Arusha Coffee Lodge and prepare for your safari getaway.

Day 3, Tarangire National Park: This is one of the best parks for spotting elephants in Tanzania. Major conservation efforts are underway to preserve their population here - learn about these programs and the other amazing species they are working to save.

Day 4, Lake Manyara National Park: See tree climbing lions and hundreds of different bird species as you explore one of the smaller game parks in Tanzania.

Day 5, Ngorongoro: At the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you’ll explore the archaeologically significant Olduvai Gorge - early humans are known to have lived in this area. Go on a hike around impressive Ngorongoro crater.

Day 6-8, Serengeti National Park: Spend two full days exploring Serengeti National Park in a classic safari jeep. See incredible wildlife - keep an eye out for the Big 5! If you are visiting in the winter time you will also see Great Migration activity on the Serengeti.

Great care and service from Agama Tours and Safaris November 2016

The Big 5

Great care and service from Agama Tours and Safaris. From first mail communication was fast and helpful. Kabalo and Lara helped customized our perfect private safari in Tanzania. 8 days including Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. The lodges, tent camps, and transportation were all excellent. We are still in disbelief to how amazing our guide was, Emanuel. A professional animal finder, knowledgable, passionate and above all, wonderful friend we have made. I would recommend to anyone traveling to Tanzania! Read more

Saw the sunrise and close to animals, wonderful trip October 2016

Kilimanjaro-Lemosho Trek + Safari Extension

Successfully summiting at sunrise - seeing the sun come up from the rim of the crater and looking out at what we had accomplished was a very emotional moment. It was beautiful. Having the opportunity to be less than 2 meters from the elephant, the zebra, and the gnu (in the vehicle) - also wonderful. Read more

Kenya & Tanzania Adventure August 2016

5.0

Kenya & Tanzania Adventure

A great introduction to the wildlife of East Africa, there is nothing quite like the excitement of animal/bird spotting that is an integral part of this tour. Camping allowed one to feel close to nature and was even better as few had other campers close by. Kip and his team were superb hosts keeping us informed of local life, both human and animal, while ensuring we were well fed. On the cultural side we visited a Masai village in the Serengeti and had guided tour of a typical local market in Musoma.
We were very lucky to witness the wildebeest and zebra migration crossing of the Mara River. The sheer number of wildebeest in the area was almost biblical.

There was a real rapport between Kip and his team and they could not have done more to ensure everyone had a good time. They set up camp as soon as we arrived and the meals were varied, wholesome and most importantly tasty (thanks Albert)! Everything seemed to work like clockwork, a sign of the hard work that goes on in the background.

Be prepared for some early starts and the odd long drive, but it's all worth it. On occasion the poor road surface could result in an 'African massage'! In terms of camping the mattress provided was very comfy (~2in thick foam). The occasional campsite does not have hot water, however, a cold shower after a hot dusty day was refreshing! Ngorongoro was cold (we travelled in July) so warm clothing is a must.

When buying craftworks be prepared to haggle, it is expected and part of the fun.

Had a good time! October 2015

Zanzibar to Cape Town

Just come back from my amazing 34 day Zanzibar to Cape Town trip. It flew past - I had such a good time. Sam and Julius, my trip leader and driver, were awesome, really helpful and funny and had lots of interesting stories to tell. Had a great group too and have so many fantastic memories. From the white sands of Zanzibar, the smiling, waving children of Malawi, walking with lions and swimming at the top of Victoria Falls, gliding through the reeds of the Okovango Delta in a mokoro, elephants wandering through the campsite, seeing all the wildlife drinking from the watering hole at Etosha, skydiving over the Namibia dunes in Swakopmund, climbing up Dune 45 through the mist only for it to clear with the sunrise to going up to the top of Table Mountain and feeling on top of the world in Cape Town. Really want to go back and I've only been home a day. If you are hesitating about booking - just go for it! I loved every second, well maybe not taking down tents at 5am but practically every second! Acacia are a really good company, our truck seemed so much nicer than some others who didn't even have lockers inside the truck. I will be back to do the Kenya to Zanzibar leg of the trip at some point in the future and know I won't even bother looking at another company to do the trip! Read more

Wonderful experience! August 2015

Lemosho Route

Just did the Lemosha Route with a successful summit climb. August and his crew were great, they were very knowledgeable and provided whatever assistance anyone needed. Chef Paul kept us so well fed that the threatened loss of appetite at altitude never happened. Our porters amazed us daily with their strength and agility hauling their loads up and down the mountain. The Lemosha Route is gorgeous with beautiful and changing views of Kilimanjaro as you make your way up to Barafu Camp. After the long march down we did a 6 day Safari and again had a wonderful experience. Tito our guide was very knowledgeable about the birds, animals and plants, we saw the "Big Five" and more! I highly recommend Ultimate Kilimanjaro. Read more
