Day 6-7, Lhasa: Back in Lhasa visit Norbulingka, learn about Tibetan buddhism at Ganden Monastery, and enjoy local cuisine.

Tibet in 2 Weeks

Day 1-4, Lhasa: Use your time here to adjust to the altitude and get to know the local culture. Visit Jokhang Temple, explore shops with local crafts and food, Potala Palace, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery,

Day 5, Gyantse: Get to know “old” Tibet in this traditional mountain town. Pelkhor Chode Temple complex, and many other significant religious sites.

Day 6, Sakya: This monastery town features medieval Mongolian architecture. Take a day hike through ancient temple ruins.

Day 7-8, Everest National Park: Hike to Everest Base Camp, see the prayer flags, Rongphu Monastery, stay overnight at base camp

Day 9, Shigatse: In Tibet’s second largest city, visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, Kelsang Chapel, and walk through vibrant Shigatse bazaar.

Day 10, Lhasa: Head back to Lhasa through the beautiful Tibetan countryside

Day 11-13, Kathmandu: End your journey in Nepal with a few days in Kathmandu. Enjoy a local meal, explore Durbar Square and Pashupatinath.

Wonderful trip to Nepal, our guide Udaya was excellent and gave us good insight into Nepalese lives; we also saw lots of wildlife. Only thing missing was the Himalayan views, due to weather

Incredible experience of a completely different culture. The palaces and cities were interesting, but the highlights for me were all the people we met along the way: students on the train who wanted to be engineers; villagers who came over to the island when we were camping to take selfies with us; and joining in with their Holi celebrations. Raj, our tour leader, knew everyone and everyone knew Raj! He looked after us very well and we always felt safe. I felt we were able to explore the real India and Nepal in ways that we wouldn't have done if I'd planned the trip myself. Highly recommended.

Two highlight for me of this extraordinarily great trip we’re taking a long look at the wild Royal Bengal tiger sauntering in the late afternoon sun and the trip on the Ganges. We were in a flotilla of small traditional boats with the chef and crew in another following. We camped on an island in the Ganges. So original and dreamlike! Also our extraordinarily good team leader who went above and way beyond to look out for us, constantly forward planning. He helped with airline lost bags and myself and another in the party who picked up an infection. Sanjeev Gurung was an absolute professional and good company too.
