With over 170 horses on their Wyoming ranch, Equitours has been organizing riding trips since 1971. The company specializes in catering trips according to skill level and personal tastes, and operates internationally as well as in the U.S.
What Makes Them Stand Out?
They offer unique vacations, all centered on horseback riding, but also offering a wide range of cultural activities. Whether you dream of crossing a deep river in Africa as water buffalos look on or riding through beautiful vineyards in France and enjoying a luxurious winery lunch - they have every experience imaginable available.
Who Travels With Them?
Tours with Equitours are ideal for semi experienced to advanced riders. Group sizes are 6 - 12 people, and solo travelers are welcome. Typically the age range is between 30-60 years old.
Where Do They Operate?
Tours are offered all around the world, with the majority in North America and Europe. You can search by theme (such as Dressage or Beach Riding) and each theme has a few different countries associated. For example, Horseback Riding and Wine Tasting tours are available in Oregon, Italy, France, and Portugal.
How Does it Work?
Most of their tours are English style riding, which is quite different than Western style. If you’re unfamiliar with English riding, they advise taking a few lessons to get used to the saddle and rein commands (these are the exact opposite to Western rein commands - a tough habit to break!). Rides are a full day, which can be a shock to your body when it’s not used to sitting in that position regularly. Another reason to do some riding before you leave for your Equitours trip.
Why Travel With Them?
If seeing the world by horseback is on your bucket list, this is the perfect company for you to travel with. They have tours suitable to multiple riding levels, and all tours incorporate other sightseeing elements.
