Lovely luxury with a very local twist - it’s not a Hilton. Super friendly staff, good food. We stayed 2 nights in Lamay Lodge & will stay 2 in Huacahuasi Lodge which is significantly more Local in terms of staff. Again not Westin but in a good way. For example it’s at 3800 meters. We are a group of six and they handle groups well.

Returned about one week ago from experiencing the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu with MLP. The experience was profoundly moving, absolutely beautiful land and people. Enrique was our fearless guide, supported by Gilbert and Jacquline. Not only did they lead us, but they taught us about the environment and people around us. The orchids, the ferns, the hummingbirds, the language and the beautiful Quechuan people of the mountains. Our trekking companions, who were complete strangers to us when we began, became our beloved companions. Each person bloomed in their own way on the trail as we challenged ourselves physically and emotionally. The lodges and food were superb of course. But the land, the people...these are the enduring memories.
