Diverse itinerary, excellent hotels/lodges, amazing tours, prompt transfers & perfectly booked flights!5.0 June 2018
Thank you to Lion World Travel for making all of my safari dreams come true!Read more
We worked with Natalie to book the 'South Africa in Style' tour which exceeded our expectations in every way. Diverse itinerary, excellent hotels/lodges, amazing tours, prompt transfers & perfectly booked flights! Natalie was amazing to work with while patiently answering my 1,000's of questions. She kept in constant contact throughout the entire process & also followed up afterward to make sure we had a great trip. The travel documents provided were extremely helpful in navigating the airports & going through customs. They also provide a VIP concierge telephone # which is available 24 hours a day in case things go awry.
The top-notch accommodations at Table Bay & Jackelberry Lodge make this package an incredible value without skimping on luxury. But the included helicopter tour, Cape Peninsula tour, Gold restaurant & plus dinner & high tea at Table Bay Hotel were all added bonuses which put this trip completely over the top. (We switched up the itinerary a little by replacing the wine tour with shark cage diving which was on our own account. Natalie booked this for us & perfectly rearranged our itinerary.) They also participate with Costco Travel which may provide additional benefits if you are a member.

Simply outstanding5.0 March 2018
Simply outstanding. I took my 4 grown children on the Classic Tanzania trip the end of May 2017. We saw every animal over and over and babies everywhere. Lion World through Costco were outstanding to work with. I travel 100,000 plus miles a year and when I say there was not one thing I would change about this trip, I am sincere. Keep in mind all the tour companies go to the same areas where the animals are most likely to be and I guarantee folks paid twice as much as Lion World charges for the same sights. The hotels were outstanding along with the food. 27 countries later, this was our favorite trip as a family. I paid, we showed up and they did the rest.Read more

we had an exquisitely wonderful time.5.0 July 2017
Lion World Travel booked us on the Platinum tour to Cape Town and Lion Sands Preserve from the USA. Our contact at LWT, Cheryl Gould, was very responsive, attentive & helpful before and after the trip. It was our first trip to South Africa, which happens to be Cheryl's place of birth. We are able-bodied, adventure-loving senior citizens and we had an exquisitely wonderful time. The hotel in Cape Town was great and the Tinga Lodge while on safari was one of the most incredible places we've stayed - we were treated like royalty. The safari was everything we hoped it would be and MORE plus Cape Town & nearby environs were fabulous. I'm running out of superlatives - so I will simply say it was the trip of a lifetime.Read more

Despite the “World” in its name, Lion World Travel is all about African safaris and tours, promising “extraordinary experiences of affordable luxury” from East Africa down to South Africa.
You can choose between group travel and individual itineraries, where you can mix and match as you please. Along with wildlife safaris, for instance, Lion World Travel can set you up with a luxury train trip (such as South Africa’s Blue Train) on your itinerary or into a luxury resort on an island in the Indian Ocean.
What Makes Lion World Travel Stand Out?
Lion World Travel has more than 50 years of experience running tours and safaris in Africa. While it’s now part of the giant Travel Corporation and is headquartered in Toronto, its roots are in Africa, and the company maintains offices and a full staff on the ground in Africa.
They know their stuff, including the top lodges and tented safari camps – where they negotiate the best prices for their customers. Lion World Travel also includes airfare and/or single traveler specials in many of its trips, making them more affordable. Guides in the field are top-notch.
Who Will Enjoy Traveling with Lion World Travel?
Lion World Travel is the perfect tour company for travelers who are after the classic luxury safari experience, but perhaps find the pricing for this kind of experience prohibitive from a lot of other luxury safari operators.
A luxury safari conjurs up images of comfortable lodges keeping out the bugs, sunsets with silhouettes of elephant and giraffe in the distance, cocktails on the veranda, and five star dining. This is exactly what you’ll experience with Lion World Travel - in addition of course to the incredible daytime activities out on the savannah in a comfortable (or as comfortable as possible) safari jeep vehicle encountering incredible species after another.
Lion World also doesn’t skimp on the cultural aspects of visiting Africa. Especially due to their legacy - with many strong relationships formed with local people over - you’ll feel a sense of warmth and welcoming.
Families, honeymooners, single travelers, and food and wine aficionados are all welcomed with special itineraries and deals. “Platinum Itineraries” are offered for those seeking luxury all the way.
Lion World Travel runs safaris and other trips in 12 countries in East and southern Africa, including two Indian Ocean island groups, Mauritius and the Seychelles.
On the mainland, you can explore the wildlife parks and other attractions of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Rwanda, and Namibia.
Lion World Travel Style
The Lion World Travel style allows you to either choose a set itinerary for a small group tour – such as “Victoria Falls and Botswana,” “South Africa Culinary and Wildlife,” or “Luxury Tanzania” (including the Serengeti) – or put together your own custom made itinerary with Lion’s Africa experts there to advise you.
Once you’re there, expect a luxurious feel with top notch friendly service, and excellent food and drink.
While luxury accomodations are a big part of traveling with Lion World Travel, they are also all about making sure you experience the best the Africa has to offer.
Safaris take advantage of full days, departing at 6am returning for a bit of rest and heading out again to observe the nocturnal behavior out on the savannah. The day might wind down with a glass of champagne but not before you’ve taken to the air in a hot air balloon!
Why Choose an Africa Tour With Lion World Travel?
Lion World Travel combines more than five decades of experience in Africa with the resources and backing of the Travel Corporation, which owns two dozen respected travel brands, including Trafalgar, Insight Vacations, and Uniworld river cruises. If you’re seeking a well-organized luxury safari with good value, this might be the company for you.
A unique collection of luxury trips designed by Gate 1 travel.
What Makes Gate 1 Signature Collection Stand Out?
These are luxury minded trips with a local focus. Guides are all local experts, from and living in the destination you’re visiting. Each itinerary features exclusive experiences. Groups are small and each day is full of activity but well balanced.
They focus on offering only a select group of trips in this special collection - allowing them the freedom to create truly spectacular itineraries - which include more inclusions in the price than their other collections.
The tagline is “More Luxury for Less”. These tours may not be in same luxury travel class if you’re used to Abercrombie & Kent, however where comfort and extravagance meets fun and busy travel days of sightseeing and tours, you’ll find Gate 1 Signature Collection.
Who Will Enjoy Traveling with Gate 1 Signature Collection?
Those travelers who are willing to spend a little bit more for a 4-5 star experience, will probably find a sweet spot with Gate 1 Signature tours. These trips tend to be attended by older travelers, in the 50+ range.
Don’t expect too much strenuous activity. You can expect easy paced walks, guided tours and lectures, and stops to explore interesting cultural sites and historical attractions.
While some of these cultural experiences, included in their “Signature Experiences”, are truly unique, be wary that many of these inclusions are fairly standard offerings - such as a hot air balloon ride over the African savannah. So the luxury experience of exclusivity you may be expecting is to be taken with a grain of salt. These tours offer wonderful experiences - but the destinations or activities are not always particularly uncommon or rare.
They currently don’t offer an overly extensive list of countries, but tours do go all over the world. This includes Central Europe, Spain, and the UK, Israel, Jordan and Morocco, Peru, Southeast Asia, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.
Gate 1 Signature Collection Travel Style
Signature Collection tours with Gate 1 aim for comfort, ease, and unique cultural experiences. Like their other brands, Gate 1’s Signature Collection is about making sure your sightseeing is maximized, and the price is right for the experience.
Most sightseeing, meals, wifi, tips, and their “Signature Experiences” are included in the itinerary price - unlike Gate 1’s main brand which offers less inclusions. This type of itinerary more helpful to budget travelers wishing to pick and choose which activities they would like to pay for. Gate 1 Signature Tours, however, are best suited to those who want more inclusions and less hassle to have to decide on how to spend their travel time.
Why Choose a Tour with Gate 1 Signature Collection?
If you’re an older traveler looking for a boutique, comfortable, and well paced tour, the Signature tours may suit you very well. Travelers love the customer service, attention to detail, and depth of knowledge the guides bring to each day on the tour. There is also a good balance of free time and optional additional sightseeing opportunities.
All tours feature included “Signature Experiences” which are the main highlights that make the Signature Collection tours stand out from the other Gate 1 brands. These are unique excursions, usually with a strong cultural focus - such as an evening of Irish music in Galway, or a traditional dinner in the deserts of Morocco. They also often include lectures that explore a destinations history or a specific facet of the culture.
