The cave and day in a life. The landscape was breathtaking throughout. Our tour leader, Nika, was amazing.

Enjoyed discovering small towns and their history. I used to believe Romeo and Juliet were just characters in a Shakespeare's play, but after learning that their families did actually exist, and going to Juliet's Tomb, perhaps they were real. No one knows for sure. Going to the Swiss Alps one day and to the Dolomites on another were wonderful experiences. Making our own dinner at a restaurant, which was the best meal of the trip if I do say so myself, was a very special moment. And we had a super guide, Cinzia, who catered to everyone's needs. I am still smiling, thinking about it. The only negative was that in July it can be hot and humid

It was a great trip, full of learning and discovery moments. We sheared a sheep, learned the basics and tried to master the skills of Irish soccer and hurling. We enjoyed the friendly nature of the Irish people where ever we went. The hotels were very good and centrally located so everything was within walking distance. There is so much to like and nothing to dislike about this adventure we highly recommend it

I was very impressed with the Family Adventure company in terms of the holiday delivered which was exceptional. The booking and pre-holiday experience was fine although it would be better to have a specific contact to email rather than just to phone the general number with queries.

Booking and customer service were good. From a child's perspective

Booking and customer service were good. From a child's perspective, FAC were not as welcoming. Another company we have travelled with sent a welcome pack with a travelling companion (soft toy) and activities to do while travelling. When on the holiday this company also catered more for families needs e.g. more frequent stops when travelling for food and toilets, without parents having to ask. The stops were also at more sensible times e.g. making sure there was a stop at lunch time (12.30ish), rather than early afternoon (1.30 onwards). Children (and adults) get irritable if they've not eaten making the journey more stressful.

      About Grand Circle Travel

The "older sibling" of Grand Circle Cruise Line, Grand Circle Travel specializes in land tours for Americans of baby boomer age and above (fifty-plus, but leaning toward the plus).

What Makes Grand Circle Travel Stand Out?

Grand Circle Travel was started by the founder of AARP, and as such know their demographic extremely well. Over the years they have established a solid reputation for tours and river cruises that offer good value to destinations around the world. They also foster a community of dedicated travelers, encouraging you to share your memories, images, and stories with them and the friends you meet along the way.

Who Will Enjoy Traveling with Grand Circle Travel?

If you like the idea of joining a tight knit travel community, with frequent cost cutting options, then Grand Circle could be for you.

This is definitely a travel experience well suited to older travelers in the 60+ range, seeking a degree of comfort, in their travel experience, within a mid to high budget range. Younger couples or families may feel out of place among the crowd on a Grand Circle tour, as the activities, lectures, and pace are all designed for older travelers. If relaxing on the cruise with a book in hand for hours on end, gliding by quiet European shores is your idea of a grand old time then Grand Circle is for you!

If you’d rather have a bit more action during your trip, this style of travel is probably not going to hit the right note.

Trips are mostly all-inclusive, focusing on comfortable accommodations, informative and easy paced guided walking tours, cultural encounters, learning experiences, and special events that they call their Discovery Series.

Solo travelers make up nearly a third of Grand Circle's customers, and they're made to feel more than welcome on group tours, including some price breaks on single supplements.

Itineraries are designed for American travelers, with an aim towards immersive experiences such as visiting local homes, interesting walking tours, in-depth cultural interactions and culinary experiences.

      Top Destinations

Grand Circle travels all over the world, with a strong focus in Europe, Aisa and Southeast Asia. They also have limited departures in Africa, South America, the Middle East, South Pacific, North America, Central America, and even Antarctica.

      Grand Circle Travel Style

The Grand Circle Travel Style is comfortable, standard river cruises and motorcoaches. On motorcoach tours with Grand Circle you will make frequent stops to stretch your legs, and some longer stops for sightseeing. Groups are between 24-47 people, so expect some company! Because Grand Circle attracts a similar age range, you’re sure to meet new friends with like interests in no time.

Hotels are comfortable and centrally located. Don’t expect extreme luxury or especially unique accommodations.

You will probably do a fair amount of walking throughout the tour - Grand Circle suggests that travelers be relatively physically fit. Most trips with Grand Circle are, unfortunately, not wheelchair accessible.

Why Choose a Tour with Grand Circle Travel?

For the flexibility and comfort aspects, combined with unique experiences at every turn. You might find yourself sharing dinner at the home of a local family or visiting local schools. Plenty of free time is included in the itineraries, and there is a lot of choice among optional tours.

      About The Family Adventure Company

Founded two decades ago and based in the UK, The Family Adventure Company specializes in small group family adventure vacations. The company is now part of the global adventure travel operator Intrepid Travel, and trips are offered through Intrepid as well, allowing them to greatly expand their range.

      What Makes Them Stand Out?

With more than 20 years’ experience, The Family Adventure Company helped pioneer the concept of small-group adventure travel for families with young children. Activities are wide-ranging, from river rafting and kayaking to cycling, sailing, camping, and wildlife viewing, all geared to the ages and interests of the family travelers.

      Who Travels With Them?

A wide variety of families, including solo-parent, single-child, multi-generational families -- parents, children, and grandparents traveling together -- and families with teenagers. The latter have dedicated trips of special interest to teens.

      Where Do They Operate?

Much of the world: Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.

      How Does it Work?

No matter where you travel, The Family Adventure Company provides an English-speaking, family-friendly local leader. Lodging, transportation and activities are also included. Tours typically consist of three or four families with kids of similar ages or interests. (You can also put together your own trip with just your family or other families you’re friendly with.) Children 14 and under get a ten percent discount off adult prices; large families (over two kids) get another price break.

      Why Travel With Them?

The award winning company offers a wide range of trips for a wide variety of families. Because they only cater to families, they know what kids like – and as any parent can tell you, nothing is more disastrous than a family tour not geared in any way to kids. The company also supports responsible and sustainable travel practices and gives back to local communities.
