Fast-Paced Tour of Western Europe that highlighted most Bucket List Sights. Awesome Company. Great Food and Tour Leader5.0 June 2019
I jumped on this tour with very little notice and planning, and I was thoroughly impressed. Our Topdeck trip leader was very knowledgeable, fun, and adjusted the trip to the group (34 people). The meals provided were delicious, and they worked hard to cater to dietary needs. Accommodations were good, typically with 2-6 people in a hostel room. Keep in mind they are hostels, not hotels (bring your own towel).Read more
I loved the itinerary, as it highlighted the must-see places and had variety (ex. Paris, Rome vs. Switzerland). The optionals in each city were all wonderful. However, many were not presented in the Topdeck literature online and were not introduced on the trip more than a day in advance. All are paid for in cash (Euros). Because of how the optionals were presented, it was a bit harder to budget. I would recommend inquiring more about the optionals when booking and at the beginning of your tour via your trip leader. Don't feel pressured to do all of them and remember to keep your own interests in mind.
The solo travelers easily found others with similar interests to explore with. For many on this trip, drinking and going out to bars/clubs was a major component (as alcohol is often cheaper than water). Because of the shortness of this tour along with all the destinations, prepare for lots of driving and to make the most of the time you have in each city.
This trip provided am amazing sampling of Western Europe and opened my eyes to cultures and history I was unfamiliar with. Overall, I would highly recommend this itinerary and touring company, as it provided a good balance between budget and experiences.
P.S. Stay flexible with plans, but some of the popular sights need more pre-planning than expected, like the Eiffel Tower and the Anne Frank House (Amsterdam).

Overall amazing value. Food, particularly by Topdeck staff, excellent. Spontaneous/flexible; be prepared to pay for lots of extra excursions, on and off your itinerary, in cash.5.0 June 2019
Food was excellent. Accomodations were better than expected: hostels, but usually with in-suite bathrooms and always only with other members of your tour of the same gender. Don't try to overplan; trip is quite spontaneous and flexible and you won't know much about the schedule/optionals for each city more than a day or so in advance. Optionals will be plentiful and paid in cash. Only do those that are right for you, even if your trip leader really encourages them and most other people are going. These trips are great for solo travelers, but make sure you find people interested in the same things as you...it will probably be easy to find groups to go to bars and clubs with in the evenings, but harder to find people who prefer other evening plans. Driver was excellent and bus was very comfortable and clean, but be prepared to spend a lot of time on it as there is no driving at night. Trip leader extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and helpful. Overall, excellent value and a trip with plenty of time to see the bucket list highlights in each city.Read more

Unforgettable trip!5.0 January 2017
We wanted to share some of our memories from our trip 9/22/15 to 10/3/15 visiting Greece and Turkey. We started in Athens where we met Kostas Kotsanas. He greeted us and went over our itinerary with us. He helped us find the perfect things to do and eat. He made sure we know where our transfers and tours were and we never had to give anything a second thought because he was always taking great care of our group. He gave us his phone number and we felt like we can call him anytime during our trip for anything. He became more then our tour guide but a friend. Homeric was amazingly represented by Kostas!Read more
Our hotels, The Athenian Callirhoe in Athens, San Marco Hotel in Mykonos and Xenones Filtera was just beautiful, more then we can hope for, outstanding. We left for our plane back 7:20 am and Xenones Filtera had a breakfast to go for us, just wonderful!
Thank you Homeric, we will recommend you to all my friends. It's definitely a trip we will never forget!

I am providing herein a summary of both the good and the bad4.0 January 2017
Our trip to Greece was in September 2016. I am providing herein a summary of both the good and the bad. Homeric is basically a facilitator which combines tours, cruises, and flights to meet your needs. This is a good way to arrange a trip if you can’t find a prearranged trip to suit your desires. In general, they did a good job of creating the tour we wanted. And thankfully, all of our scheduled transportation to-and-from the airports and transportation for excursions showed up as planned. My biggest fear had been that they would not show up at all. Our tour consisted of the Three Day Classical Tour of Greece, the Celestyal Cruise 8-Day/7-Night cruise, the Israel extension (a few days in Jerusalem with excursions), and the Egypt extension (a few days in Cairo with excursions). We took both the extensions before the Classical Tour and cruise instead of afterwards, which I assume is more common. Jerusalem was interesting and we felt very safe walking around. We took the light-rail to the Holocaust Museum on our free day, which was pretty easy to figure out. The Wailing Wall, Old City, Bethlehem and West Bank were also interesting. Israel was OK, but not our favorite. The best part of the trip was Egypt, because it was the most different from places we have traveled before, and we have done lots of traveling. A highlight was having our photos taken on camels with the Pyramids in the background, for $5 per person negotiated in advance. (Lean back in the saddle when the camel drops to its knees). We were extremely well taken care of in Egypt, from the time we landed to the time we departed. Our local contact person and local guide were great. But you do need to book an excursion for your free day, either in advance on-line with a tour company, or contact the hotel concierge in advance who can probably help you book something, or possibly book through Homeric. Don't think you are just going to walk around in Cairo and explore on your own, you will not feel comfortable and you'll take your life in your hands just trying to cross the street due to the lack of WALK lights. Cairo is chaotic but interesting! Regarding the 3 day Classical Tour, it could have been booked as a 3 or 4 day trip. On the third day, the people who had booked the 4 day trip went merrily on their way, while those of us who took the 3 day trip were left sitting in a hotel lobby for 1/2 a day waiting for our ride to show up to take us back to Athens. And our luggage was left sitting out in the lobby unprotected while we waited. The bus trip took about 4 hours to return to Athens with no bathroom stops. By the time we arrived back in Athens it was dark outside and the day was wasted. If I had known that the return trip would be so poorly coordinated, I would have booked the 4 day trip instead, at least we would have seen something new that day. My traveling companion said that he would have just skipped doing the Classical Tour altogether because we had seen plenty of historic sites and ruins on previous travels. Regarding the cruise, everything was adequate considering the cruise is a lower cost operation. However, one piece of checked luggage (not carry-on luggage) didn’t show up at the cabin door because it contained scissors. Ship security did not notify us that they had our luggage, causing hours of concern and questions. The best food I found was from the custom omelet station located near the pool (daily), and the pasta station near the pool (the pasta station only happened one day). I will say that the Captain's Formal Dinner was just a photo-op and nothing special, and can easily be skipped. We purchased some ship excursions in advance through Homeric, some from the local Homeric rep in Athens, and some on the ship. Nobody bothered to tell us that if we had waited to buy all of the excursions on the ship we could have saved lots of money because they sell package deals on the ship. One of the excursions, “A DELECTABLE DAY IN CRETE”, which we had pre-purchased through Homeric, was cancelled due to lack of participation. Apparently, this happened because a different Crete excursion was included in the package deal which saved money, so everyone signed up for that. The available excursions from the ship could have been explained and coordinated much better by Homeric. As mentioned, the local Homeric rep in Athens, Costas Kotsanas, sold us a few excursions. He sold us the Ancient Ephesus through the Ages excursion. I specifically asked Costas if we would have time afterward to walk around the town of Kusadasi and see the local market, and he assured me that we would have plenty of time - this was completely false. The excursion wasted so much of our time visiting a carpet factory, we got back to the port after dark and too late to walk around. By the time the bus got back, the shops were void of any other tourists or local shoppers - the place was a ghost town. If you like excavated ruins, then Ephesus might be a good location to see, but only if you are willing to be screwed out of seeing anything else. Otherwise, the cruise itinerary included a lot of different ports which were enjoyable to visit. Santorini and Crete were interesting and scenic, and we were very happy for the opportunity to visit Istanbul, where we took a full day excursion. Overall, Homeric did a good job and I would be willing to use them again. However, as with everything, some things could have been done better. Keep in mind that what you consider to be interesting is partially a function of what you have seen before. For example, other travelers on our trip found excavated ruins very interesting, while we were not as impressed as we had seen similar ruins before.Read more
