My family and I have just done the three day tour of Uluru and Kings Canyon in NT. Our tour guide Rachael and host Tahnee were fabulous. We found the whole trip enjoyable, the accommodation was great, the food lovely, tasty and plentiful. They were both superb with my cousin who was a none English speaking French man. The whole time a huge amount of effort went in to making the whole group (18 of us in total) feel welcome, comfortable and encouraged to enjoy the whole trip.....

I had the most amazing camping trip in Darwin. We were a small group and the guide, Kel, was perfect. He had knowledge of the aboriginal stories, was a great cook and choose the perfect soundtrack for the long drives. Kakadu and Litchfield are amazing places, I wish I had more time to explore.

In the early 90s Adventure Tours Australia was conceived, as a way to help new travelers to Australia visit the farther reaching attractions of the country, such as Uluru.
What Makes Them Stand Out?
Culturally rich, adventurous tours and local expertise. They strive to show travelers “the real Australia”. They specialize in wildlife and indigenous culture tours. Their guides have a collective two decades of experience traveling around the the vast country, and it’s many different often harsh environments. Their tours are eco conscious, and almost all have an element of camping involved.
Who Travels With Them?
Their trips tend to skew younger, especially given the two types of accommodation range from Camping to Basic. They often host families and single or solo travelers. No single supplement is required for those solo travelers open to rooming with someone of the same gender - if you prefer a room to yourself, they can often offer this for a supplement.
Where Do They Operate?
Their tours operate throughout Australia, including Tasmania. They have multiple kinds of tour, including short breaks, overland, and city explorations.
How Does it Work?
Trips fall under two main categories: “Basix” and “Original”. Each is fairly rustic in nature. Transportation is via 4WD or minibus. All trips are conducted in as eco conscious a manner as possible.
Why Travel With Them?
They are perfect for young adventurous travelers interested in seeing Australia from a local point of view. If you enjoy camping, getting to know other travelers, and feeling completely immersed in your location, they are the tour company for you.
