Super fun! First time here with our 1 year old son and he enjoyed it and it even made us feel like kids again since we were able to join him in the play area! Food was ok for the price. Surprised that the pizza tasted better than some cheap pizza shops. But overall we would definitely make the trip back to this place.

We were extremely happy with how each and every minor/major logistics were taken care of during our entire trip to Peru. Starting from the planning phase, Andrew and Garvey of Lost World were with us revising the itinerary multiple times until it met with our comfort level. This was our very first time of hiring a professional travel agency for organizing our vacation at the international location, so you can imagine the degree of anxiety we had about our trip at the beginning. Andrew kept assuring us that you will know as soon as you reach there that you are in good hands. That turned out to be true word-by-word. At every airport we were met with someone who was assigned to take us to the hotels, and each time the individual left only after making sure that we were all set. Throughout our trip we always find the people attending us (the guides, transfer and drivers) very prompt, professional and courteous. One problem we experienced though that many a times the individuals assigned to us were not very proficient in English. This was quite limiting but nevertheless was countered with the help of google translator and very enthusiastic personnel who were genuinely eager to help. The guides (Natalie in Sacred valley and Cusco; Sergio at the Matchu Pitchu) who went with us to various excursion tours were knowledgeable, entertaining and very very friendly. The cars were in really great conditions, roomy and very clean - in fact one of the drivers used to keep the black synthetic floors spotless by wiping our dusty footprints every single time we stepped out. The location of each hotel was prime, which was truly important for us particularly when we were on tight schedule and has no clue about the orientation of touristy hot spots and down town plazas. Perhaps this is unique to the south american setting, but we struggled a little with the 'Vouchers' - something that you paid for that does not go in to the system automatically when you check-in at the hotels. However, our escorts/hotel front desk people were very much aware of it and they helped us almost all of those time. All of the city tour tickets were booked and given to us as soon as we landed in Peru. I want to mention that we were moved by Carlos, our transfer guy in Cusco, who went over on each single thing included in our itinerary while we were driving from the airport to the hotel on our first day. He did that so sincerely while also telling us about the people/history and geography of Peru. I also remember, he wanted to accompany us up to the Vistadome train, but was stopped at the gate (and desperately argued with them to let him do that). Our food restrictions were varied -from nothing to vegan- it was addressed meticulously at the lodge in Amazon Forests, without us reminding them about it. Other places already had appropriate options in their menus. Our itinerary was not overwhelmingly busy - it had some leisure times and times for shopping or just walking around on our own carefully planted, which we liked the most. At one point, we needed to cancel one of the excursion while there at Matchu Pitchu pretty late in the night (due to some health issues; we were supposed to be at the bus stop terribly early AM), we reached out to the emergency contact number of Lost World and they promptly and rapidly helped us with it. We can go on and on to tell you how much we enjoyed the excellent services provided by Lost World - it only enhanced our appreciation of Peru in its entirety.
Thank you so much, we appreciate all your help and look forward to go on to the next vacation with you.

Swim with Sea Lions!!!!

The weeklong vacation on the Evolution was part relaxing, education, but mostly fun. The biologists on board provided the guests with plenty of information to understand the uniqueness of the Galapagos.

Bottom line: if you’ve ever wanted to swim with sea life this is a trip you’ll never forget.

We had a terrific trip. If I could rate just our guide, Gonzalo, I would give him 10 stars. His tweaks to our planned itinerary, his breadth of knowledge on geography, geology, flora, fauna, history and politics, and more much enhanced our experience. He graciously indulged our idiosyncrasies. And he calmly and efficiently dealt with all the headaches of travel.

The overall rating of four stars reflects more logistical glitches than expected on a top tier tour. As a couple of examples, the agency we were referred to for air travel really screwed up and one airport transfer was not there when we arrived (although our flight was very, very late). The itinerary management app we were provided was not accurate enough to count on.

This was our first "retirement" trip and it couldn't have been better. The meals, the crew, the accommodations were all first rate. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and provided so much interesting information. From the travel to the schedule the organization couldn't have been better. We look forward to our next Quasar adventure.

What started off as a dream to show the world the beauty of the Galapagos Island has become an award-winning business offering unforgettable experiences around South America.

What Makes Quasar Expeditions Stand Out?

Quasar Expeditions is the first luxury line to operate tours in Galapagos. Specializing in small yacht expeditions, get ready to discover the hidden treasures of the islands.

      yacht sailing in the ocean

Even though their main focus is small-ship tours, they run overland tours on fully equipped Jeeps. You get to decide whether you’d like to be the driver, or have your guide do the driving. Their overland safari tours let you set your pace and gives you control of deciding what you want to do, since every person has different interests.

The founders hand-pick tour guides and naturalists, looking for people that are the whole package - knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. Celebrities such as Charles Dawkin, a world renowned leading evolutionary biologist has acknowledged and given the highest regards to the impressive abilities of these guides.

Who Will Enjoy Traveling With Quasar Expeditions?

Quasar Expeditions will satisfy both soft adventurers and adrenaline junkies alike, and offer a wide variety of activities that are made to please children, teenagers, and adults alike. Their main focus is to get you outdoors and being active, with a side of culture and culinary exploration. Tours sit in the higher budget range, since they offer top notch quality service.

jeep driving in the yellow sunset

They offer a range of excursions - some that are less common to find on the Galapagos such as ice trekking, horseback riding, and Jeep touring. So if you’re looking for activities that are as unique as their destinations, then Quasar Expeditions will be right for you.

      Top Destinations

Quasar Expedition aims to take you to nature-focused destinations, where you’ll be guaranteed incredible views of some of the world’s most dramatic landscapes - through beech forests, open plains, glacier valleys, waterfalls, lakes and countrysides that stretch far into the Argentinian sunset.

Patagonian snowy mountains and lake in the daytime

They specialize in tours to the Galapagos Islands, Patagonia, Ecuador, and Peru, with national parks, hikes, kayaking, and cave exploration being common itinerary activities. So if you enjoy trips where hiking boots and headlights take priority over fancy suits and dress, then you’ll surely enjoy Quasar Expedition tours.

      Quasar Expeditions Travel Style

Quasar Expeditions travels with comfort and elegance, without sacrificing the adventure. No matter how far into the Patagonian mountains you may be, you’ll get to end your day in a world class lounge sipping cocktails by the fireplace.

hotel room in orange and beige tones

They work with small group sizes or private groups, giving you ample time to feel more connected with your guide. Tours are flexible and self-guided - so you get to choose whether you want to be guided or explore on your own. On safari expeditions, you can also decide how much you feel like doing each day. Spend the day admiring exotic birds that soar above you, venturing through the Patagonia’s surreal mountain scenery, or dozing in and out of naps on the hotel balcony all day - the choice is yours!

Accommodations are wide and vary depending on the trip you choose. They’re always 4 and 5 star hotels, depending on whether you pick the silver or gold version. Places are unique like mongolian style tent yurts, to storage plantations that were turned to luxury retreats. You can choose between a self-drive or guided safari tour. Perhaps you’d rather have someone drive so you can snap photos of Patagonia’s breathtaking scenery.

They have 3 main tour style options:

Self-driven Safari Tours:  You get to have total control of your day to day adventures on a Self-driven Safari Tour. The Jeeps are fully equipped with all the equipment for you to get around, and their staff is just a phone call away in case anything goes wrong. Make as many pit stops and detour adventures as you’d like.

Guided Safari Tours: For those that would like some additional pampering and organization on their journey, you can opt for a safari with a guide to lead you throughout the day. They can also do the driving if you’d like. Perhaps you’d want to sneak in a midday nap, so you’d rather have someone else take the wheel.

Galapagos Islands Expedition Cruises: If you’d like to visit the Galapagos Islands, this is THE way to visit. 10 of the 13 islands are only accessible by sea, meaning you’ll get to explore the depths of the islands much better this way than visiting by yourself.

If you also have particular interests, such as birdwatching or photography, they can cater their tours to be focused on them. Those traveling with children are also welcome on these tours, and activities can be modified to make it enjoyable for everyone.

Why Choose a Tour With Quasar Expeditions?

Travel in style and pristine comfort to remote areas that you would probably  never discovered on your own with Quasar Expeditions. Tours definitely give you a luxurious perspective of the destination, but you get to enjoy all of South America’s natural beauty knowing you are always in safe hands. Know that your trip with Quasar Expeditions also supports conservation projects that aim to preserve and protect the islands.

While you do experience some of the culture, this isn’t Quasar Expeditions’ main focus. If you are interested in having a truly authentic and culturally-enriching trip, you should know that you won’t find that here. There’s minimal opportunity to connect with locals and their communities, since you’ll be spending most of the time discovering exotic animals, parks, islands, and the ocean.
