Took a family vacation to Yellowstone last month with Austin Adventures and had the most amazing time! Kasey and Zach were awesome guides who really went above and beyond to assure my family enjoyed every minute as well as maximized our potential to experience as much as possible in the 4 days we were there; I wish we could have stayed longer! We left Yellowstone feeling that this was our best family vacation ever! Thank you Zach, Kasey, and Austin Adventures! Have a great summer.

Just got back from the Yellowstone/Tetons trip, our first with Austin Adventures, but definitely not our last. Our guides Carrie and James set the perfect tone and kept our spirits up despite some rainy days. I highly recommend this tour company and look forward to more adventures with them!

I´ve learned so much about Peruvian culture and history. One of the best experiences was meeting all the people, like the Ecoamazonia lodge guide Elmer, Sol in Cusco!.

The trip was one of the best trips we've done. Machu travel did a great job from logistics on airport, bus transfers, hotels are in the center of town, excursions were very organized, staff were there for us to take care of our needs, tour guides were very knowledgeable. Thank you!

Founded in 1974, Austin Adventures specializes in unique cultural and adventurous travel around the world. The company is now under the umbrella of the Xanterra Parks and Resorts Corporation, which runs lodges in numerous U.S. national parks.
What Makes Them Stand Out?
They are a classic example of the word “adventure” not meaning intense high adventure like bungee jumping, but more like the adventure a safari would be, or glamping along the Inca Trail. They have a mantra of “spend less, travel more,” and offer many different ways you can find discounted trips. Their maximum group size is 12 people, and they split their itineraries into “Adult Adventures”, “Family Adventures”, and “Custom Trips”.
Who Travels With Them?
Families, couples, small groups of friends, and solo travelers will find something to enjoy in browsing their itineraries. Older travelers especially may enjoy the balance of luxury and outdoor activity.
Where Do They Operate?
Austin Adventures has a large offering of trips in North America as well as itineraries in Europe, Central & South America, Africa, and Asia. You'll still find plenty of offerings in the U.S. West -- from Yellowstone National Park to the Black Hills of South Dakota -- but now you can also go hiking in Patagonia or join a desert safari in Namibia.
How Does It Work?
Austin Adventures limits their tour groups to 12 on Adult Adventures and 18 on Family Adventures. Accommodations are authentic and provide a real sense of the destination you’re traveling to, such as national park lodges. Most meals are included in the price of the trip apart from one, which adds a bit of flexibility. All of Austin’s guides are first aid certified and experts in their given region.
Why Travel With Them?
If you’re looking for an active or multisport trip but don’t want to ‘rough it’ too much, then Austin Adventures might be a good fit for you. Although you travel with a small group, they focus on making sure the pace of the tour allows for you to experience what you’re interested in. And if you’d rather not travel in a group, they can also help you design a custom private itinerary for you and friends.
Founded in 2011, the relatively new Machu Travel Peru is dedicated to providing sustainable travels through Peru.
What Makes Them Stand Out?
They create customized itineraries suitable to numerous travel styles. Their guides are passionate and knowledgeable about Peruvian culture and this enthusiasm becomes a part of your tour. You will make your way to Machu Picchu learning of Peruvian history and customs.
Who Travels With Them?
Travelers interested in learning about Peru from a historical and local perspective. Many of their trips go to Machu Picchu - for which it is advisable to be in generally good shape.
Where Do They Operate?
They focus in Peru, with emphasis in Cusco and Machu Picchu.
Why Travel With Them?
Peru is quickly becoming a champion of responsible travel, and Machu Travel Peru is no exception. They work with local rural communities, and are involved in numerous social projects.
