No on-site management. The staff has no supervision.
Hotel is moldering and crumbling. Serious personal safety issues of several kinds. Doors are left unlocked all night, my room door bolt was broken.
I had some very unsettling experiences in a hotel and Perillo tried to ignore me and make me go away.
Extremely inept, defensive, inexperienced and unprofessional staff.

Perillo uses hotel in Amalfi where there is no on site management. Lots of bad things happened to me there. Staff is rude, ancient hotel is crumbling and clearly in financial trouble. Perrillo has no competent professional service and won’t address serious issues they are responsible for.

Perillo’s Hawaii was our first group tour vacation. It turned out to be a wonderful experience. Travel arrangements, food and hotels were excellent! Everything is organized and worry-free. They made everything easy - just show up and enjoy. There was a good balance between activities and free time. There was also the flexibility to follow tour activities or go off on your own with our tour guide helping in setting up additional activities if asked.
We didn't have to worry about a thing except being on time. It made our anniversary a lot more fun and relaxing because we didn't have to spend the time planning and figuring out what we wanted to do.
We also met several wonderful people on the tour, exchanged stories and laughs during the tour, as well as contact information.
Bert, our guide, was very knowledgeable, informative, funny and engaging individual. His knowledge of Hawaii along with a great sense of humor made the trip fun, enjoyable and a lot more interesting. Bert entertained us with stories about the island and lessons in the Hawaiian history and language. He was very helpful and made us feel that we have been friends for years.
Bert, assisted by Ester, insures that your rooms, bags, flights, tours, activities, plus all meals run flawlessly.
We never realized we had a cousin Bert in Hawaii but were happy to find out we are all on the same family tree; “All Right Family, we are walking”.
“Mahalo” to Bert, Ester and the Perrillo Team.

This trek is definitely worth it. It might take a week to trek from start to finish but it is worth every step. The day we got to the base camp was very difficult but only because it started the hail, then snow in the last couple hours of trekking. Apart from that the trek was amazing. The views were amazing and I got to see thing i never would have at home.

We chose Annapurna Base Camp because the trek has a lower risk of altitude sickness that Everest Base Camp.
The trek was still quite challenging with many mountains to climb over (the guide called them hills ha ha) before we eventually started to follow the valley line up the mountains towards Base Camp. The accommodation was pretty basic (tea houses) in each village we stopped and the temperature kept getting lower the more we climbed. But once we got to base camp the view was amazing and we were so glad that we decided to do this trip. It was pretty hard, but the memories of being surrounded by some of the tallest mountains in the world was worth all the effort.
I would recommend that trip to anybody with a moderate level of fitness

    About Perillo Tours

Founded in 1945, and headquartered in New Jersey, Perillo was a pioneering company in the guided travel industry.

    What Makes Perillo Stand Out?

Perillo has been a name in the tourism industry since the 1940s, known for operating tours in Italy. Today Italy is still their main focus, though they have expanded to offer limited departures in Hawaii, Greece, and Costa Rica.

They provide well thought out and classic itineraries, showcasing the traditional sights, nicely augmented with local insider knowledge. Perillo is a classic tour company, offering several trip options including custom tours, destination weddings, and traditional escorted group trips. On the trip, you’ll benefit from their extensive experience and destination knowledge.

They have a dedicated Italy brand, “Perillo Italy Tours”, which expands on their long legacy providing Italy guided experiences, as well as a “Learning Journeys” brand. Their learning journeys travel to many more destinations, and cover a very wide range of interests, including certification classes for certain skills.

Who Will Enjoy Traveling With Perillo?

All ages are welcome on Perillo tours, however their type of travel may be more enjoyed by older travelers looking for a calm, fully managed tour. Perillo is a bit old fashioned. They do one thing and do it well, and haven’t changed much in the 60 years that they’ve been around. So if you’re looking for a traditional guided tour, busy but not with too many bells and whistles, Perillo is a great choice.

One unique offering through Perillo is their faith-based journeys. This was one of the first types of tours designed by Perillo. You can visit Greece and the Holy Land, as well as several important religious destinations in Italy. For travelers seeking an authentic religious-themed travel experience Perillo’s extensive experience leading and planning these kinds of tours is nearly unmatched.

Custom trip options are also available through Perillo. These custom group experiences cover a wide range of interests including yoga / health and wellness retreats, festivals, and learning tours geared toward universities. If you’re planning a destination wedding or honeymoon they have services dedicated to this as well.

Their Learning Journeys are perfect for solo female travelers and enthusiastic life learnings passionate about learning new skills, languages, or diving deeper into the history of a certain destination and culture.

    Top Destinations

    Venice Italy with Perillo tours

Perillo is known for, and primarily focuses on, Italy. Here their breadth of knowledge is impressive as they began operating packages in 1945. Perillo Italy tours cover the whole country, including Sicily, with special emphasis on classic sights and local eats.

Perillo also offers escorted tours in Hawaii, Greece, and Costa Rica.

Their “Learning Tours,” focus on niche educational travel and classes around the world, including Africa & the Middle East, Asia, and Australia.

    Perillo Travel Style

Tried and true is Perillo’s style. They may have the most flashiest or easily navigable website out there, or the most unique itineraries, but they know guided tours, they know Italy, and they stick with the classics. Hotels, meals, and activities have been personally vetted and experienced by the founder, and they have everything down to a science.

    Local village in Italy

Itineraries are between 9-10 days on average, often focusing on cuisine and historical sights. Groups tend to be between 20 and 40 people, and they often arrange private departures for large groups such as families or wedding parties.

Special interest tours are another popular kind of itinerary offered through Perillo. In Italy, they offer a number of golf tours, faith-based tours, and culinary tours. Learning tours often focus on cooking, as well as art and history, science, and wildlife.

Why Choose a Tour With Perillo?

Colosseum in Rome Italy lit up at night

For an experience in Italy like no other, Perillo operates tours from the major cities to the charming hill towns off the beaten path. Their itineraries are carefully crafted for a thoughtful balance of sightseeing, free time, optional activities, and relaxation.

They are not the flashiest of tour companys, and their website is somewhat difficult to navigate to find all the options available - of which there are a good number. But they certainly have laurels to rest on given their extensive background and long historic legacy in guided tourism.

    About Epic Adventures

Epic Adventures offers in depth Nepal tours, as well as tours that feature Bhutan, Tibet, and India.

    What Makes Them Stand Out?

They provide a way for you to experience rural and remote Himalayan life, from a local perspective. Their main focus is on hiking tours, where you’ll meet local communities and learn about the mountain cultures. They have an experienced and international team, dedicated to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all their travelers.

    Who Travels With Them?

Their tours are open to all ages, but travelers should be in good physical shape. Their treks and peak climbs are offered in a variety of durations and are all led by extremely experienced guides. Trekking in these environments requires a certain amount of endurance and skill, so travelers should know very clearly the level of the trek or peak climb they choose.

    Where Do They Operate?

They are very specially focused in Nepal, with tours also offered in Bhutan, Tibet, and India. Multiple treks and peak climbs are available.

    Why Travel With Them?

If you are looking for a lot of variety to choose from for your next Nepal trek, they certainly would be a good place to start. This kind of travel depends on a company that puts safety and guide knowledge first, and Epic Adventures takes this aspect very seriously.
