The tour bus was very comfortable, the driver was excellent and the Globus guide was very personable and knowledgeable. The accommodations were very good in the larger cities (Glasgow and Edinburgh) and good in the smaller ones. The tours of Stirling Castle, Scone Castle Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Yacht Britannia and the whiskey distillery were very informative. The sheepdog demonstration was great fun to watch. We enjoyed the tour.Read more

I took the Continental Introduction tour with Globus Journeys. This was a guided tour that visited 6 countries in 2 weeks. The tour started in Paris with 2 nights there. While in Paris we had a cruise down the Seine River and a wonderful group dinner on the banks of the Seine. We visited the Eiffel Tower where we could go to the top if we wished. The next destination was Lucerne, Switzerland with one night there. While in Lucerne we went to the top of Mt. Pilatus by way of gondola going up and the world's steepest cogwheel train coming down. There were some in our group who had never seen snow, so it was nice that there was plenty of snow. After Lucerne, we went to Lugano, Switzerland. This was a very lovely lake town and we took a boat cruise on the lake and had a nice dinner at a wonderful restaurant. The boat then took us back to Lugano for the night. The next day we traveled to Florence, Italy for 1 night with a stop in Pisa. We toured the Academy and saw Michael Angelo's David statue. After Florence we traveled to Rome for 2 nights. We toured Rome, the Vatican, the Form, the Coliseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, etc. We had the most wonderful dinner in Rome! After Rome we were in Venice for 2 nights. While in Venice we visited the Murano Glass Factory. We saw a glass blower demonstration. We also toured the Doges Palace and had gondola rides. After Venice we headed to Munich, Germany with a stop in Innsbruck, Austria. Beautiful travel through the Tyrolean Alps. We were in Munich for 1 night then headed to Bingen am Rhine. Beautiful area and our hotel was right on the banks of the Rhine River. We took a cruise down the Rhine for several hours and saw many beautiful villages and castles. After Bingen we headed to Amsterdam for the last 2 nights of our journey. While in Amsterdam we did a canal cruise, traveled to Vollendam with a stop at a working windmill, a cheese factory, and a clog makers shop. We had a very special dinner in Vollendam the last night of our trip. Our tour director was wonderful. She saw that everyone was where they needed to be and made sure that everything ran very smoothly. In each city we had local guides who helped us experience each city in a very unique way. Our bus driver was wonderful as well. He was very helpful and fun and was excellent in navigating the streets and highways to see that we arrived at each destination safely and on time. This trip was very fast paced and is to give you an overview of a large area. Since this was my first trip to Europe this was a perfect way to experience many countries in two weeks. All of our hotels were highly rated and were perfect.I highly recommend Globus. Every aspect of our trip was top notch all the way. I will definitely do another Globus tour in the future!Read more

It was a great vacation! Being from California, this was one of the best places to visit. Going there in early October was the best time to see the awesome Fall foliage. My favorite places were outside of the main cities, like out in the rural areas. Maine was beautiful, especially Bar Harbor and Portland. The Globus tour guide was very knowledgeable even though she was also from California.Read more

This is a holiday gave me a chance to slow down, and take the time to feel part of the natural world: the sun, to notice the hook-beaked oyster catchers and families of rare seals, to enjoy the wonderful food, the sunshine, scudding clouds, waves lapping and the feeling of being held safely by the St Hilda whilst being at the mercy of winds, tides and waves. It was fun to share tasks with fellow passengers and to laugh. I haven't laughed so much for years. And I loved seeing beautiful coastal parts of Scotland for the first time from the sea, gaining the chance to wonder at the histories and cultures that have flourished, been lost and yet live on in the remote, unusual places where we moored. I discovered my sea-legs, but I found much more - the pleasure of a little bit of distance from land, the new perspectives it gives and sheer joy of experiencing the sea, and its role in revealing new dreams and uncovering old ones. All this was in the company of knowledgeable crew - sea-farers who made the whole cruise delightful from start to finish and easy-peasy for a land-lubber like myself.Read more

This was a fantastic holiday - there is something magical about being in a ship, relying on wind and waves, seeing beautiful scenery, eating lovely food, helping sail the ship and enjoying the experience with a group of witty, friendly, knowledgeable people.Read more

This holiday was like no other: it was stepping into another world where the wind, sun and sea mattered because our lives were held by the ship and these big elemental forces. It was a realm of sea faring lore, laughter and fun, where the elements - water, wind and tides - mattered and shaped and influenced our journey. It's easy to laugh on a ship because you are sharing the camaraderie of crew and ocean and somehow the sea is lighter than the land. Instead you have the myths and stories of sea and mysteries of the deep - Moby Dick, Jonah, Noah's Ark and Ring of Bright Water! It's fascinating to be on a slow journey with time to reflect and to be looking at the strange, populated and then depopulated, fought over Scottish coastal landscape from a new perspectives. It's fun to work with the charming, witty, friendly skippers and fellow crew hauling anchors and sails. But, most of all, it's a joy to be on, and in, and feeling the elemental ocean. I felt safe and found my sea-legs, but I also stumbled into a new world, one that enriches and ignites dreams.Read more

Globus’ roots date back to Switzerland in 1928, when the company’s founder, Antonio Mantegazza, bought a rowboat to carry passengers across Lake Lugano, entertaining them with stories about the local sights along the way.
From that modest beginning, one of the world’s leading travel companies was born. Globus is part of the Globus Group of brands, which also includes Avalon Waterways, Cosmos, and Monograms - together they carry more than a half million passengers annually.
Founded in 1928, one of the oldest in the business, they are well respected as a mass market all-inclusive tour company that provides great value. Want free wifi on your tour bus so you can google the interesting sites you pass by? Like convenient hotels centrally located and/or with special local charm? Globus' long experience has helped them learn what makes travelers happy, and they deliver at accessible prices.
Offering inclusive, budget friendly coach tours, most notably in Europe, Globus is a classic escorted tour operator ideal for those travelers seeking a comfortable and fun travel experience.
Globus tours include mostly everything in their base rates, they choose hotels that are in the heart of a city (where the action is), allow a good amount of free time to explore a destination on your own, and use knowledgeable local guides -- in short, they offer the complete package.
Globus tours are heavily aimed at active older travelers, particularly recent retirees and baby boomers in the 50+ range, as well as seniors. You have a desire to relax and feel at home, able to linger and appreciate classic sights as well as perhaps enjoy a cappuccino at a local cafe suggested by your tour leader. You don’t want to be rushed or hurried from place to place, yet are attracted to the benefits of guided travel - logistics taken care of and a guide to help keep the itinerary moving.
As a long-established, award-winning tour company Globus caters to both budget group travelers and those seeking a more personalized (and costly) travel package. And since you can choose among group, individual, family, or religious travel experiences lasting anywhere from four to 29 days, Globus tours appeal to a broad range of travelers. But their sweet spot remains middle-of-the-road ‘value’ travelers.
Today, still family owned, Globus operates in 60 plus countries across the globe, offering nearly 160 different escorted tours to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the South Pacific, and North and South America. They are especially known for Europe and Canada
Whether you're looking for vacation packages to Switzerland or the best Thailand tours, consider Globus. On European motor coach tours, Globus limits group size to 44, allowing for extra legroom on the bus.
The Globus travel style is relaxed yet comprehensive. Group tours are designed to allow for personal time to explore, but with many pre-planned activities, excursions, and meals to enjoy throughout your vacation. Groups are medium size - and can accommodate large groups of friends or families. You’ll have the opportunity to meet new friends and like minded travelers.
In Europe private tours are also available with Globus. for those looking to make this independent exploration possible to an even greater extent.
An attentive Tour Director is never far away on a Globus trip. Globus tour directors are locals, who have input over the itinerary, lend their unique perspective, and take you to the best spots for meals, drinks, shopping, etc. They are also knowledgeable guides, introducing the culture and country’s history through visits to major sites and attractions. Globus travel style is about combining the best of “travel like a local” with the best of “classic tour sites”.
Globus is not a luxury brand, but accommodations and transportation will be comfortable. Transportation is in large motorcoaches, equipped with wifi and large viewing windows. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
Older active travelers not interested in slowing down just yet will appreciate the Globas approach. Globus makes amazing travel experiences reachable - for multiple budgets and styles.
Super adventurous and independent minded travelers may be curious to explore other options before deciding on Globus. These kinds of fully escorted tours aren’t for everyone. You will have some free time, but most meals, excursions, and activities are inclusions in the price - leaving you somewhat out of luck if you don’t want to participate in a certain itinerary item.
If you’re curious about group travel, other group tours provide more flexibility that could provide a more positive introduction to this style of travel.
Globus offers many great perks for larger groups planning to travel. If you’re a group of eight people traveling together, you are eligible for special deals and discounts; and if you’re a group of 20 people, Globus will arrange a tailor-made itinerary for you. If you are a traveler looking for value tours and prefer a specific travel theme, then globus has trips and tours that are designed accordingly.
St. Hilda provides the unique experience to see Scotland by sail. They offer many activities and private excursions - a perfect travel experience for families, older travelers, and small multi-gen groups.
What Makes Them Stand Out?

If you bring your equipment you can canoe, kitesurf, and windsurf as well.

Where Do They Operate?
The West Coast of Scotland is where they specialize, the Outer and Inner Hebrides and Argyll specifically. Such a niche focus is a huge positive for those interested in getting a unique view of this part of the world.
