Just returned from St Lucia and wanted to put in a review for Smiley, our tour guide and Tony our driver on a Piton excursion we took while out there. Had a great day with them. Tony was a very good driver negotiating some very sharp bends on the skinny mountain roads, and Smiley great fun and very informative. Thanks guys

A group of us from work #Vista print went on the Catamaran cruise as a team engagement. We LOVED it. The experience was grand and the customer service was amazing. We're planning to do one of their other cruises soon. I'd recommend Island Routes to anyone

Only refunded $50 out of $250

I would HIGHLY discourage anyone from booking with this company. At the very least, read all of the one star reviews on this page before doing so.
We booked a catamaran tour while staying at the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall resort. We ended up paying around $250 (for two) to spend the day on the catamaran which included 1.5 hours of snorkelling, drop off at the Dunn's River Falls, and a return trip with food and drinks. About half way to the pick-up point, the Island Routes' shuttle driver informed us that the water was too choppy for the tour and that we would be turning back. Fine.
He then receives another call saying we can continue on to the Falls, if we'd like. He ensures us that we'll be refunded for only having done the Falls hike, and that we could deal with that once we returned to the resort. The group, looking to salvage the day, decided to carry on. We get to the Falls, do our thing (takes about 35 minutes to hike up and down), and return. At this point everyone is starving since we didn't receive any food or drinks and everyone pays for their own lunch at a place recommended by a fellow tourist. At the resort, we thank and tip our driver and head over to deal with our refund. After some hours dealing with a mixed crew of Island Routes' employees, we are told we will only be refunded $50.
We did not spend the day on a boat, we did not go snorkelling, we did not receive food and drinks. We spent four hours in a sweaty bus to go hiking, pay for our own shoe rentals/lunch, and then return. None of what we did is even advertised on the brochure we were sold on.
This company is sketchy and apparently not concerned about their reputation. I'm shocked that so many hotels, including the Hyatt, do business with them. Save your money and look elsewhere.

This is a holiday gave me a chance to slow down, and take the time to feel part of the natural world: the sun, to notice the hook-beaked oyster catchers and families of rare seals, to enjoy the wonderful food, the sunshine, scudding clouds, waves lapping and the feeling of being held safely by the St Hilda whilst being at the mercy of winds, tides and waves. It was fun to share tasks with fellow passengers and to laugh. I haven't laughed so much for years. And I loved seeing beautiful coastal parts of Scotland for the first time from the sea, gaining the chance to wonder at the histories and cultures that have flourished, been lost and yet live on in the remote, unusual places where we moored. I discovered my sea-legs, but I found much more - the pleasure of a little bit of distance from land, the new perspectives it gives and sheer joy of experiencing the sea, and its role in revealing new dreams and uncovering old ones. All this was in the company of knowledgeable crew - sea-farers who made the whole cruise delightful from start to finish and easy-peasy for a land-lubber like myself.

This was a fantastic holiday - there is something magical about being in a ship, relying on wind and waves, seeing beautiful scenery, eating lovely food, helping sail the ship and enjoying the experience with a group of witty, friendly, knowledgeable people.

It's fascinating to be on a slow journey

This holiday was like no other: it was stepping into another world where the wind, sun and sea mattered because our lives were held by the ship and these big elemental forces. It was a realm of sea faring lore, laughter and fun, where the elements - water, wind and tides - mattered and shaped and influenced our journey. It's easy to laugh on a ship because you are sharing the camaraderie of crew and ocean and somehow the sea is lighter than the land. Instead you have the myths and stories of sea and mysteries of the deep - Moby Dick, Jonah, Noah's Ark and Ring of Bright Water! It's fascinating to be on a slow journey with time to reflect and to be looking at the strange, populated and then depopulated, fought over Scottish coastal landscape from a new perspectives. It's fun to work with the charming, witty, friendly skippers and fellow crew hauling anchors and sails. But, most of all, it's a joy to be on, and in, and feeling the elemental ocean. I felt safe and found my sea-legs, but I also stumbled into a new world, one that enriches and ignites dreams.
