I was very impressed with the Family Adventure company in terms of the holiday delivered which was exceptional. The booking and pre-holiday experience was fine although it would be better to have a specific contact to email rather than just to phone the general number with queries.

Booking and customer service were good. From a child's perspective, FAC were not as welcoming. Another company we have travelled with sent a welcome pack with a travelling companion (soft toy) and activities to do while travelling. When on the holiday this company also catered more for families needs e.g. more frequent stops when travelling for food and toilets, without parents having to ask. The stops were also at more sensible times e.g. making sure there was a stop at lunch time (12.30ish), rather than early afternoon (1.30 onwards). Children (and adults) get irritable if they've not eaten making the journey more stressful.

We took a 3+ week independent rail, ferry, bus, and train tour through Scandinavia and Finland organized by 50 Degrees North and the trip was spectacular because of the excellent work of Satu and Henna. This was a complex trip with lots of different transport and connections. All the reservations were in perfect order and the detailed itinerary was exceptional - every thing we needed was included to make the journey as smooth as possible. Before our trip all arrangements were made on the internet but 50 Degrees was very responsive to questions and additions to the trip. Once during the trip we had to call because a landslide delayed a train connection and the 50 Degree North representative was immediately helpful and responsive. We were totally pleased with the service and arrangements. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants a Nordic Adventure. They are experts on the territory and so detailed compulsive that your trip will be perfect. We made this trip through the Norway 50 Degree office.
Thank you Henna and Satu Andy Kosseff

We were very impressed with the efficiency and friendliness of the staff at Fifty Degrees North who organised a 2 week experience for us in Norway. We told them what we wanted and they did all the organising. Everything worked extremely well and this involved travel by train, bus, ferry, plane, car hire and accommodation. When we arrived on a Hurtigruten ferry in Svolvaer on the Lofoten Islands at night we were met by a driver who took us to our accommodation which was superb - a rorbuer (an old fisherman’s hut). We would highly recommend a stopover (we had 3 nights) in Svolvaer if you are doing a Hurtigruten cruise. All the accommodation was first class and in a variety of interesting locations. When we were late collecting our car we had a friendly phone call to check that everything was OK. Thank you very much to all at Fiftydegreesnorth.

We were a group of 4 adults who embarked on a holiday organised by Asko of 50 Degrees North. The 19 day trip chasing the Northern Lights through Finland, Norway and Iceland was absolutely exceptional!! The accommodation was fantastic and every night was luxurious and unique. The Arctic Light Hotel Polar + Rooms were amazing, the Kakslauttanen Kelo Glass Igloo particularly memorable as we watched the lights through the glass roof from our bed. The Kirkenes Snowhotel was a once in a lifetime and we all slept 8 hours surrounded by ice!!! The Clarion Collection Hotel With in Tromso was also a favourite with the beautiful harbour views and complimentary waffles each afternoon. We went on 2 x snowmobile adventures, had 2 x reindeer rides, drove a sledge with 6 dogs, met Santa, went King Crabbing (and ate way too much), spent two full days in Iceland doing the Golden Circle and the South Shore, and swam in the Blue Lagoon. We saw the lights on 4 separate nights including watching them dance through the sky from the top level of the Hurtigruten Boat. Asko organised a trip that exceeded our expectations and we are so grateful to have found her and 50 Degrees North. Professional, efficient, friendly and very knowledgeable. Thank you again for making this trip so special.

      About The Family Adventure Company

Founded two decades ago and based in the UK, The Family Adventure Company specializes in small group family adventure vacations. The company is now part of the global adventure travel operator Intrepid Travel, and trips are offered through Intrepid as well, allowing them to greatly expand their range.

      What Makes Them Stand Out?

With more than 20 years’ experience, The Family Adventure Company helped pioneer the concept of small-group adventure travel for families with young children. Activities are wide-ranging, from river rafting and kayaking to cycling, sailing, camping, and wildlife viewing, all geared to the ages and interests of the family travelers.

      Who Travels With Them?

A wide variety of families, including solo-parent, single-child, multi-generational families -- parents, children, and grandparents traveling together -- and families with teenagers. The latter have dedicated trips of special interest to teens.

      Where Do They Operate?

Much of the world: Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.

      How Does it Work?

No matter where you travel, The Family Adventure Company provides an English-speaking, family-friendly local leader. Lodging, transportation and activities are also included. Tours typically consist of three or four families with kids of similar ages or interests. (You can also put together your own trip with just your family or other families you’re friendly with.) Children 14 and under get a ten percent discount off adult prices; large families (over two kids) get another price break.

      Why Travel With Them?

The award winning company offers a wide range of trips for a wide variety of families. Because they only cater to families, they know what kids like – and as any parent can tell you, nothing is more disastrous than a family tour not geared in any way to kids. The company also supports responsible and sustainable travel practices and gives back to local communities.
