I was very impressed with the Family Adventure company in terms of the holiday delivered which was exceptional. The booking and pre-holiday experience was fine although it would be better to have a specific contact to email rather than just to phone the general number with queries.

Booking and customer service were good. From a child's perspective

Booking and customer service were good. From a child's perspective, FAC were not as welcoming. Another company we have travelled with sent a welcome pack with a travelling companion (soft toy) and activities to do while travelling. When on the holiday this company also catered more for families needs e.g. more frequent stops when travelling for food and toilets, without parents having to ask. The stops were also at more sensible times e.g. making sure there was a stop at lunch time (12.30ish), rather than early afternoon (1.30 onwards). Children (and adults) get irritable if they've not eaten making the journey more stressful.

Visiting Marche was a pleasant surprise for us. We were on a longer trip and decided to do the Taste of Italy for 5 days to visit a new area. What we most enjoyed about our visit was the city of Ascoli Piceno with its beautiful medieval center. In fact, we walked from our hotel after dinner every evening and explored the Roman amphitheater. A very different feel overall compared to the busy roads of the major cities. Our cooking class was exquisite and we were even given some home made fig jam to bring back to Seattle. Forget Tuscany next time, this is the real deal !! Thank you for showing us around, Ashley

Each day started with the best cappuccino we ever tasted! There was good variety between our three classes and they turned out to be all engaging and extremely fun for our group. The genuine feeling of making pasta by hand with somebody who has been doing it for 60 years cannot be boiled down to a review. Our ingredients and accompanying wines were above and beyond our expectations. Would go back in a heart beat!!

We were in a group of 4 people, two of us were not needing gluten free meals and we had a chance to taste everything. Even the cooking classes were separate so we could try different dishes! September was perfect for the weather. Rick, Charlotte North Carolina

      About The Family Adventure Company

Founded two decades ago and based in the UK, The Family Adventure Company specializes in small group family adventure vacations. The company is now part of the global adventure travel operator Intrepid Travel, and trips are offered through Intrepid as well, allowing them to greatly expand their range.

      What Makes Them Stand Out?

With more than 20 years’ experience, The Family Adventure Company helped pioneer the concept of small-group adventure travel for families with young children. Activities are wide-ranging, from river rafting and kayaking to cycling, sailing, camping, and wildlife viewing, all geared to the ages and interests of the family travelers.

      Who Travels With Them?

A wide variety of families, including solo-parent, single-child, multi-generational families -- parents, children, and grandparents traveling together -- and families with teenagers. The latter have dedicated trips of special interest to teens.

      Where Do They Operate?

Much of the world: Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.

      How Does it Work?

No matter where you travel, The Family Adventure Company provides an English-speaking, family-friendly local leader. Lodging, transportation and activities are also included. Tours typically consist of three or four families with kids of similar ages or interests. (You can also put together your own trip with just your family or other families you’re friendly with.) Children 14 and under get a ten percent discount off adult prices; large families (over two kids) get another price break.

      Why Travel With Them?

The award winning company offers a wide range of trips for a wide variety of families. Because they only cater to families, they know what kids like – and as any parent can tell you, nothing is more disastrous than a family tour not geared in any way to kids. The company also supports responsible and sustainable travel practices and gives back to local communities.

      About The Italian on Tour

They offer highly specialized and customized small group and private guided food, wine, and cultural tours of Italy.

      What Makes Them Stand Out?

Owned by two adventurous foodies, their unique style brings a love of food and culinary traditions to the forefront. Prepare for a laid back, but wonderfully fulfilling experience. The Italian culture with its incredible warmth, compassion, and boisterousness will be as much a character on your tour as the landscape, the locals, and the food (and the wine).

      Who Travels With Them?

Foodies, this is the tour company for you. If you love local immersion, cooking, wine tasting, cycling, and history (as it relates to food) you’ll love traveling with Italian on Tour. This is not the company for you if you’re hoping to see a lot of major landmarks or do more traditional sightseeing.

      Where Do They Operate?

They have a very specialized approach, focusing primarily in the Marche region on the Eastern coast of Italy. This relatively unknown region has a “hidden secret” vibe - and their local connections and knowledge make you feel as though you’re visiting relatives and friends.

      Why Travel With Them?

This is a very unique culinary travel experience, designed especially for you by passionate travel experts. They’re extremely personal in tone, and this approach is refreshingly relaxed. Personal doesn’t imply unprofessional or low quality though. Rather it implies that when traveling with Italian on Tour you truly experience the Italy that everyone thinks of when they think of the countryside, the food, and the culture.
