Fantastic advertised company on internet/social media what makes you think you will be going on the trip of a life time. However, the reality is that you are paying a lot of money for a dodgy, unsafe accommodation located in the suburbs. Unfriendly driver and few American highlights. The company offered “professionally-trained tour leader” and free wifi on the van but in my opinion that wasn’t the case. The “tour leader” had very poor knowledge about the places we were visiting and didn’t help me much after I had a thief in the hotel room. I am frequent traveller who consistently use many travel companies along with organising tours on my own and I have never experienced such a poor service. I would have never picked any of Trek America accommodation myself what would have saved me from being robbed and stressed on my holidays. Read all small prints before you decide to go on the trip because as soon as they have your money customer satisfaction & your enjoyable experience doesn’t matter what they have clearly showed after I have raised my concerns upon my return.

I embarked on the SouthernBLT tour in April and hands down it was the best thing I have ever done! We had the best tour guide Helen Moore and the trip was just unforgettable. Each day was so different and full of fun and laughter seeing some of the most amazing scenery along the way. One of the best experiences of my life and I can’t wait to do more trips through trek!!

Great trip on Western Wonderer from San Fran to LA. We had a great group of people... lots of laughs! We had amazing adventures. Drew was great at finding ways for the group to interact and break the ice. Trek America is highly recommended by me

I was very impressed with the Family Adventure company in terms of the holiday delivered which was exceptional. The booking and pre-holiday experience was fine although it would be better to have a specific contact to email rather than just to phone the general number with queries.

Booking and customer service were good. From a child's perspective

Booking and customer service were good. From a child's perspective, FAC were not as welcoming. Another company we have travelled with sent a welcome pack with a travelling companion (soft toy) and activities to do while travelling. When on the holiday this company also catered more for families needs e.g. more frequent stops when travelling for food and toilets, without parents having to ask. The stops were also at more sensible times e.g. making sure there was a stop at lunch time (12.30ish), rather than early afternoon (1.30 onwards). Children (and adults) get irritable if they've not eaten making the journey more stressful.

            About Trek America

Trek America (the sister company to Grand American Adventures) has excelled in the small group tour market for 40 years, operating fun, energetic trips for 18-30 year olds in the Americas.

            What Makes TrekAmerica Stand Out?

On a TrekAmerica tour, travelers are guaranteed to have a fun, active, and energetic experience. When they started, their goal was to capture the spirit of adventure on cross country American road trips with friends. This idea remains with most groups kept intentionally small, capping at 13, providing the opportunity for you to really get to know your fellow travelers.

Who Will Enjoy Traveling with TrekAmerica?

Seeking an adventure and adrenaline pumping tour with other young travelers who love being outdoors? You may find your tribe with TrekAmerica.

Their tours are aimed at travelers between the ages of 18-38, a majority of whom are single travelers - they are an attractive option for solos as none of their tours require a single supplement. TrekAmerica was born out of a group of friends going on a cross country road trip - and the sense of excitement that comes with that kind of trip permeates their itineraries and culture.

Unlike some of the more “party” centric youth tour companies, TrekAmerica attracts a wide range of travelers and their focus on adventure travel somewhat weeds out those who might be concerned about not have access to a hair dryer. "Trekkers", as they are known, are friendly, down to earth, open minded, and welcoming.

If you’re not a big talker, there’s more room on a TrekAmerica tour to get to know people on your own time. Most Trek America group trips are kept small - around 18 max - so introverts will feel at home too. A few TrekAmerica tours are larger, with a max of 50, so if you’ve got your social butterfly wings on, there is something for you too at TrekAmerica!

            Top Destinations

TrekAmerica operates tours in North, Central, and South America, visiting everything from major cities to small towns and villages. Off the beaten track attractions are a major highlight.

            TrekAmerica Travel Style

If you travel with TrekAmerica, be prepared for an active tour! Activities range from cycling to hardcore hiking to whitewater rafting, and the focus is on enjoying the outdoors. Be prepared to embrace whatever the weather happens to be, and go with the flow whether it be wet, muddy, or dusty.

On a TrekAmerica North America tours, you will travel in a small private vehicle, comfortable but not luxurious in true road trip style. Don’t worry, there’s wifi on most buses - so your selfies can be uploaded in [almost] real time. Days start early, so get ready for some sunrises!

In South America, many TrekAmerica tours take public transportation.

On overland trips, you’ll set up and break down your own tents and enjoy community meals around campfires. When not participating in the days planned activities, most “trekkers” enjoy seeing the local sites.

Guides are friendly, knowledgeable, and fun - usually in the same age range as the travelers themselves.

Why Choose a Tour With TrekAmerica?

If you want to get off the beaten track, are adventurous, and interested in meeting young, similar travelers, TrekAmerica would be a great option. These tours are great if you want an exciting break, where you can stretch your comfort zone and get back to nature. You will definitely not have a dull moment with a TrekAmerica tour.

            About The Family Adventure Company

Founded two decades ago and based in the UK, The Family Adventure Company specializes in small group family adventure vacations. The company is now part of the global adventure travel operator Intrepid Travel, and trips are offered through Intrepid as well, allowing them to greatly expand their range.

            What Makes Them Stand Out?

With more than 20 years’ experience, The Family Adventure Company helped pioneer the concept of small-group adventure travel for families with young children. Activities are wide-ranging, from river rafting and kayaking to cycling, sailing, camping, and wildlife viewing, all geared to the ages and interests of the family travelers.

            Who Travels With Them?

A wide variety of families, including solo-parent, single-child, multi-generational families -- parents, children, and grandparents traveling together -- and families with teenagers. The latter have dedicated trips of special interest to teens.

            Where Do They Operate?

Much of the world: Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.

            How Does it Work?

No matter where you travel, The Family Adventure Company provides an English-speaking, family-friendly local leader. Lodging, transportation and activities are also included. Tours typically consist of three or four families with kids of similar ages or interests. (You can also put together your own trip with just your family or other families you’re friendly with.) Children 14 and under get a ten percent discount off adult prices; large families (over two kids) get another price break.

            Why Travel With Them?

The award winning company offers a wide range of trips for a wide variety of families. Because they only cater to families, they know what kids like – and as any parent can tell you, nothing is more disastrous than a family tour not geared in any way to kids. The company also supports responsible and sustainable travel practices and gives back to local communities.
