We traveled to Rwanda with the sole intention of going in search for the gorillas. I can only say that its been the best experience of my life. Anyway, we knew that the Virunga Lodge was going to be our base camp but we really dind´t know what to expect. I usually do my research before going out search of new adventures, but in this case, i din´t. This "somewhat rustic" hotel exceeded our expectations. The service was impeccable, the food delicious, the room was perfect but in my opinion, all of this great attributes were somehow diminished by the espectacular views of the lake and the volcanoes from almost every corner of the hotel. I truly recommend this hotel along with the gorilla trekking experience.

Our stay at virunga lodge was fantastic. The food was brilliant and we were fortunate enough to spend a night on the sunset and sunrise side. The massage was honestly the best I've had both Jane and Florent were incredible- just what we needed after a long trek. The staff were all great in assisting my now fiancé with his proposal especially Balam who went out of his way for us that special evening. The washing of our boots was such a nice touch, they look brand new after 13 years of trekking! This is a very unique place and the location couldn't be better. Would definitely recommend.

This is a great place. We were lucky enough to be upgraded from our other ( overbooked) hotel. Gorgeous room and bathroom, arrived after dark so did not get to maximise views but saw at sunrise- gorgeous view of lake. Food was excellent - don't over order for breakfast as you have limited time before trekking; and packed lunch was great. Best place to stay in the area.
