Editoral Review of Wine Lovers Tours

They run specialty wine tours in regions around the world.

What Makes Them Stand Out?

Immersion in a specific wine region - wine tasting, educational, fun, meeting winemakers, activities such as cooking classes or sightseeing. These tours are all about the wine and the food - probably most enjoyed by those with a little bit of prior wine knowledge, but those new to wine tasting will love this introduction!

Who Travels With Them?

Guests come from all ranges and walks of life with one thing in a common: a shared love of wine, food and travel. Travelers tend to be on the wealthier side, as often is the case among wine enthusiasts, however they do try to price tours fairly, and pack a lot of value for the cost. Typical group size is 15-22 people, or they can also design a customized private tour.

Where Do They Operate?

They offer tours to just about every major wine region in the world, however their particular areas of specialty include France and Italy followed by Spain, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Croatia, South Africa, Australia & New Zealand and Chile.

How Does it Work?

Deluxe motor coach, or small van, or private car. 4-5 star hotels. As these are vacations they are mindful of the fact that this is your vacation and reflect this in their itineraries, where they try to balance both value, activities and leisure. For example you might visit 2-3 wineries with tastings, wine-pairings, site visits and other activities with multi-course lunches or dinner included.

Why Travel With Them?

If you enjoy the camaraderie of meeting and traveling with those of a similar interest and passion for wine, these tours will be perfect!

They have established a niche as ‘artisan craftsmen’, their products being the itinerary itself on wine and food tours. They follow a 3 pronged approach with a judicious combination of wine, local food and local culture. From the moment the tour starts, you’ll be taken care of.

In their own words “We are not the largest in our niche and we started long before the vast majority of other wine and tour operators. We were in the avant-garde of enotourism long before that term was coined. We don’t like surprises and don’t expect any to happen on any of our tours. The object is to learn about a region’s wine, food and culture, and have fun in the process. That just about sums up our philosophy.”

About the company

Experiential wine vacations and multi-day wine/food tours. Each tour focuses on immersion in a particular wine region (or comparing 2) and exploring the wines and cuisine, and a bit of culture and history that go with it.

The name Wine Lovers Tours kinda says it all. We are a small family-run wine vacation tour operator. We offer 5-8 scheduled tours per year in addition to customized packages in the wine regions of the Europe, Australia & N.Zealand, South Africa, South America and North America. and each is different – never repeated exactly the same. Sure we get our guests into some of the world’s top wine producers but we also focus on making each tour unique & immersive. We don't just visit wineries in a particular wine region, we tie in the terroir, the regional cuisine, the history and more of a particular wine region. One day may be a tasting and dinner at a Michelin restaurant and the other may be exploring ruins followed by a tasting and barbecue in the vineyards with the wine maker and local villagers, another day may be walking with dogs on a hunt for truffles.
