"I am a 43 year old Indian male who loves to travel, likes to read and research places and would love to be treated with dignity and respect which he deserves. This is my review of the 4 days- historic Scotland tour that I took with star tours in Wembley, London from 18-21st July'23. I and my wife boarded from Wembley. We started on a bad note. I had initially requested for a Watford pickup but later when I changed it to the origin point (Wembley), I was asked to pay an admin fee of GBP 15 per head (they later asked for only GBP15). I mean, why would you ask for extra money when I am coming all the way to the origination point and saving you the hassle to pick and drop me at some other location? Bottomline- please read all the fine prints. Let's talk about the tour- This is a great tour if a) you are an indian or of an indian origin b) you are very particular about indian food c) you would prefer company of only fellow indians (and I say this as an indian with utmost respect) This is not a great tour if a) you would like to have a knowledgable tour guide who actually knows about the route, the places, the history b) you are genuinely interested in the places you visit c) you would like to be treated with courtesy and respect that you deserve after paying 400 pounds per person d) you would like some music on the tour ( the bluetooth speakers did not work and the guide had to use his phone and put the microphone near his phone speaker) The tour representative/guide Shaji Vethody was so frustratingly naive and disrespectful that at one point of time I actually volunteered to take the passengers through the history and significance of places that we were paying to visit. He allowed that once but I guess he became insecure later and did not allow it citing safety reasons. His overall attitude was like "you are a bunch of fellow Indians and I would expect you to be only concerned about theplas and bhujias and antakshari, I don't really expect you to be either knowledgable or inquisitive. If you do ask me to do my job then I am within my rights to shut you off in a disparaging manner". If this is how we treat each other then I do not expect the foreigners to treat us any differently. I really regret choosing this tour on this account as I am very particular about knowing and understanding the significance of places that I visit on a tour. The food was decent but the tone of this gentleman and his overall attitude bordered on the disrespectful in my opinion. At one point even the British driver said something about India with a racist overtone (When the passengers objected, Shaji had a word with him and then apologized on his behalf) About the points of visit- the itinerary http://bookings.startours.co.uk/Tour/04-Days-Historic-Scotland#MarkersMapCanvas felt like a typical tick mark exercise without someone to guide us but it was still entertaining The hotels were comfortable but very far from the city center. Btw The food was Indian and delicious. Overall I would not recommend this tour if you are an actual travel buff."
