A: The two shortest place names in the world are "Å" a teeny fishing village in the Arctic Circle, officially part of Norway, and "Y" a small French village in the region of Picardy in Northern France.

A: Papual New Guinea! There are a whopping 852 languages in Papua New Guinea, only 12 of which are extinct, though 41 are considered to be dying languages.
