This is a luxury small group safari. 12 people, two land rovers. We spent the arrival night in a hotel in Arusha, two of the nights during the safari in hotels, and the rest of the nights in the luxury camp. The hotels were all good. The food was good, not great. The luxury camp is a two room canvas tent containing a queen size bed or two doubles. then there is a dressing area leading to the "bathroom" which is a toilet seat on a box over a hole in the ground. There is a shower stall in which they fill a canvas bag with hot water from the fire. They will not begrudge you a refill if you want to take your time. The day starts early in the dining tent with breakfast. then it is off to the land rovers to begin the safari. The guides from all the different safari's communicate to share where the most sought after animals are to be found. You will absolutely be up close and personal with lions, elephants, giraffes, monkeys, wildebeest, ostrich, zebra, hyrax, and the bird life. You will also see Water buffallo and hippos, but is best not to get close to them. and you will see plenty of Cheetah and some Rhinos, but usually from afar.

Lunch is usually conducted picnic style in the park. Our A&K picnics were the envy of every other group. Then it is touring until sunset.

When you get back to camp there is a camp fire going and the head guide will present a lecture, while everyone enjoys some much needed libations, of which there is great variety and unlimited quantity. Then dinner in the dining tent, and after dinner back to the campfire for more libations, and usually to review everyone's pictures from that day.

The guides are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. You will actually miss them on your last day. I had a great time and heartily recommend this safari and A&K.

The best part is being inside the game park all day and night. You really dont want to be going back to a hotel, but to stay out in nature.

Some tips: There is a generator in the camp so you may recharge your electrical items every day. They can also launder your clothes. Things to bring: plenty of strong repellent to deter the horse flies, do not skimp on memory cards for your camera, be sure to have a telescopic lens for your camera, a good pair of binoculars with good magnification, a flashlight, a device to view your photos on, a device to copy your photos onto. Dont forget a sweater, its cold at Ngorongoro Crater. For your digestive happiness, I had good results taking probiotic and charcoal capsules every day. You can see my pictures at

We took a trip to Jordan and Oman planned through our travel councillor and A&K. We chose this upmarket company and certainly had an upmarket holiday. Everything was top notch from beginning to end. We saw all the amazing sights, were given excellent tour guides and the accommodation was 5 star all the way. They included a couple of unusual accommodation choices too such as a rather posh tent in the desert and an Eco tent at the turtle reserve in Oman.
Would fully recommend this whole tour and A&K.

Recently had a holiday booked with Abercrombie and Kent which was so disappointing we left 5 days early and the rest of the family left 3 days early. The way that A&K dealt with the situation and with us as guests was unprofessional and the property manager we dealt with on site was rude and antagonising. We have had numerous holidays with A&K before and never have we had an experience like this. It has been constant excuses and no apologies. We will never travel with them again and have advised our extended family, friends and industry contacts to do the same.

Nothing could be more seamless or well planned than trips with A&K, however many times one changes one mind, they always manage it. Wouldn't travel to Egypt without them

Magnificent photo safari to Kenya and Tanzania.
Luxurious accommodations, well informed guides who could answer most any questions our little group could think of, and unbelievable photo opportunities.
We saw the migratory crossing. Hippos grazed at night by our elevated tents. A rhino walked right past us on one drive. A leopard posed for us on another. We saw a lion eating a kill not 25 feet away from us one afternoon. We even watched young bull elephants play-fighting. The drivers really knew which routes to take whether we set out cross country or kept to the more traveled areas.
It was the experience of a lifetime.

Day 2: Iguazu Falls, Cascades Up Close

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Hotel Das Cataratas

After a morning at leisure, explore the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls. Board a train shuttle to Cataratas Station, and from there walk paths that lead along and above the spectacular 275 cascades. See beautiful flowers, ferns, tropical plants, butterflies and exotic birds on your way to the train that takes you to Devil’s Throat. Continue onto a catwalk that extends 1,200 yards over the lush tropical basin of Devil’s Gorge.

Day 3: Iguazu Falls/Rio de Janeiro, Copacabana

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Accommodation: Copacabana Palace

This afternoon, fly to Rio de Janeiro. On arrival, you are taken to your hotel, located in front of famous Copacabana Beach. Later, enjoy dinner at cozy, stylish La Fiducia Restaurant.

Day 4: Rio de Janeiro, Beaches to Rainforests

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Copacabana Palace

Travel to the heights of Corcovado (“Hunchback”) Mountain for a spectacular glimpse of the city. Crowning Corcovado at 2,400 feet above sea level is the majestic statue of Christ the Redeemer. Rio is literally sliced down the middle by the impressive Tijuca Mountains, making it possible to go to the beach in the morning and enjoy the chill of the rainforest, natural pools and waterfalls in the afternoon. Embark on an excursion through the rainforest in open-air Jeeps along the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon and past the Jardim Botânico, finally stopping at the Vista Chinesa in Tijuca National Park for wonderful views. See the park’s Mayrink Chapel, boasting beautiful murals. From there you can hike one of the many trails and admire the rich variety of fauna and flora.

Day 5: Rio de Janeiro, A City’s Rhythm

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Accommodation: Copacabana Palace

Visit Santa Teresa, a picturesque neighborhood that still retains its colonial ambience. Nicknamed “Montmartre Carioca” after the famous district of Paris, it is known for the large number of artists who live here. After lunch, learn the steps of the samba and how to move to the rhythm. During the “beat out,” try Brazilian cachaca, a popular liquor similar to rum. Afterward, ascend Sugarloaf Mountain, another iconic feature of the Rio skyline. Take the glass-sided cable car to the top to enjoy a cocktail at sunset.

Day 6: Brasília, Architectural Masterworks

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Royal Tulip Brasília Alvorada

Board a flight to Brasília, a creation of mid-century politicians and architects designed to draw Brazilians away from their much-loved coastal cities. From above, Brasília looks like a jet plane with a central avenue of government buildings intersected by a boomerang of residential streets; its “fuselage” is lined with spectacular — and controversial — modern architecture. On an introductory tour, view Oscar Niemeyer’s gleaming architectural masterpieces, several of which grace the city. Niemeyer, a native of Brazil who lived to be 104, was one of the key figures in the development of modern architecture.

Day 7: Manaus, Begin Your Amazon Cruise

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Accommodation: 'Iberostar Grand Amazon'

Fly to Manaus and embark on a tour of the city’s highlights. This afternoon, board Iberostar ‘Grand Amazon’ to begin your unforgettable cruise along the Amazon River. Days 8-9: Amazon River Cruise, Life of the River

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: 'Iberostar Grand Amazon'

Spend two days in the incredible environs of the Amazon River. Listen to the sounds of parrots and monkeys, and take in the fragrant aroma and warm, misty atmosphere of the tropical rainforest. Watch for anacondas just skimming the river surface or try fishing for piranha. As you enjoy the comfort of your floating hotel, consider going on a photo safari in the Rio Manacapuru region or a boat excursion through Igarapes and Igapos. When the ship reaches Lake Rei, try your hand at piranha fishing or birding, or just relax on the deck and watch life on the Amazon pass by. Gather tonight for a special farewell dinner.

Day 10: Depart Brazil

Meals: Breakfast

Disembark and transfer to Manaus to board your flight home.
