Meet locals in the remote farms and capital of the Falkland Islands, witness the magnificent glacial landscapes and historic stations of South Georgia and immerse yourself in the breath taking channels and bays of the Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands.

Small groups are usually defined as between 10 and 24 travelers, often less. If you're the kind of person who enjoys more intimate experiences and personal service this is a good choice. All else being equal you will pay a premium for this style vs a larger group tour.

Accommodation: Arakur Hotel and Resort

Your expedition begins in Ushuaia, with a day to explore its Argentinean leather markets and award-winning museum. Ushuaia is also on the doorstep of the dramatic Tierra del Fuego National Park which can be accessed along the famous “Train at the End of the World”.

Day 2: Embarkation

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Accommodation: MS Hebridean Sky or MS Island Sky

After breakfast at the hotel and a leisurely morning exploring Ushuaia, you will be transferred to the ship in the mid-afternoon. Meet your Expedition Team and fellow travelers, then relax on deck as we set sail through the Beagle Channel in the evening, passing colonies of Magellanic penguins, rock cormorants and sea lions.

Day 3: Southern Ocean

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Accommodation: MS Hebridean Sky or MS Island Sky

Today will be sent sailing across the Southern Ocean, accompanied by albatrosses, prions and petrels which often follow the ship, as well as the occasional sighting of whales and dolphins. A series of informative lectures will be presented by your Expedition Team on the wildlife, history and geology of the Falkland Islands, as well as briefings on environmental regulations and expedition safety.

Day 4: West Falklands

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Accommodation: MS Hebridean Sky or MS Island Sky

We’ll arrive today in the West Falklands where remote farms have been operated by families for generations. Sheep graze alongside colonies of albatross, rockhopper, king and Magellanic penguins, while striated caracaras soar overhead. Meet the hardy locals who live in this dramatic part of the world over a cup of tea and cake.

Day 5: Stanley, East Falkland

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Accommodation: MS Hebridean Sky or MS Island Sky

This morning we’ll cruise into the sheltered harbor of Stanley which is the capital of the Falkland Islands. You’ll have plenty of time to wander its shops and museum which are a short walk from the port, together with lively pubs where you can chat with the locals. It’s also possible to experience the Falkland’s abundant wildlife from town, with sea lions and dolphins often spotted in the harbor and a number of seabird species in nearby Gypsy Cove.

Day 6-7: Southern Ocean

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Accommodation: MS Hebridean Sky or MS Island Sky

We’ll spend the next couple of days sailing across the Southern Ocean, passing the Antarctic Convergence and officially entering the waters of Antarctica. Our onboard presentations will continue with a series of fascinating lectures about our next destination - South Georgia.

Day 8-11: South Georgia

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Accommodation: MS Hebridean Sky or MS Island Sky

Located within the Antarctic Convergence but outside the yearly sea ice limit, South Georgia boasts an abundance of breeding penguins, seals and seabirds. Over the next few days, you’ll explore its magnificent mountain scenery and glaciers, as well as the dramatic, iceberg-dotted coastline. We’ll launch the zodiacs to visit colonies of elephant seals, fur seals, albatross, petrels and skuas, as well as impressive king penguins as they fatten up their chicks. We also hope to visit the historic Grytviken whaling station which is home to its own museum, together with the Norwegian seaman’s church, the working British Antarctic Survey station and the grave of Sir Ernest Shackleton.

Day 12-13: Scotia Sea

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Accommodation: MS Hebridean Sky or MS Island Sky

We’ll continue sailing south across the Scotia Sea as the icebergs become more plentiful, accompanied by informative presentations about the Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands.

Day 14-17: Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Accommodation: MS Hebridean Sky or MS Island Sky

We’ll approach the Antarctic Peninsula from the east, crossing the northern boundary of the Weddell Sea which drives cold water and ice north to South Georgia and the South Orkney Islands. Keep an eye out for whales and numerous species of seabirds as we cruise through its iceberg-dotted waters, exploring the most scenic bays and channels of the Peninsula. Destinations may include Neko Harbor, Paradise Harbor, Wilhelmina Bay and the Lemaire Channel, together with the Neumayer Channel and the wildlife-filled waters of the Penola Channel. We’ll launch the zodiacs to visit penguin rookeries, seal wallows and bird colonies, as well as working scientific bases such as Poland’s Arctowksi or the U.K.’s Port Lockroy. The itinerary will be largely determined by weather, ice and wildlife opportunities, with the chance to see Adelie, Chinstrap and Gentoo penguins, together with orcas, minke and humpback whales.

Day 18-19: Drake Passage

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Accommodation: MS Hebridean Sky or MS Island Sky

We’ll depart the Antarctic Peninsula on our return trip across the Drake Passage, continuing our presentation series and wildlife spotting as we reflect on this incredible expedition.

Day 20: Ushuaia

This morning you will disembark the vessel for your flight back to Buenos Aires or an extended stay in this southern city.

They are just great!!!
They have a no-nonsense ambience.
The Dormitory is adequate, very clean and comfortable.
The food was very tasty, homely and had a good variety.
The activities catered to our satisfaction. They are provided with lots of patience. Every staff member is so friendly and they ensure that you enjoy the outing.
We were a family with people from all are groups. They took care of every individual needs. Our aged mother was made very comfortable, and they arranged a chair for her at every activity area.
We spent almost two days and one night. And we enjoyed every moment.
If one is looking for a good outing, this is the place. Total value for money. Above all it's the passion of the staff that makes them better than most places around Bangalore.

Just a couple of weeks ago, our team had been to ‘Eagles Unbound Adventure Camp’ for a team outing. It was one of the best outings that we have had and a lot of credit goes to Mr. Sunil Chris for being the perfect host. He and his team had ensured that every minute detail was taken into consideration and delivered as promised. The fact that the organizers were able to feel the pulse of our team and plan activities accordingly had built the right tone for team bonding. The hygiene and quality of food served was par excellence. I would recommend ‘Eagles Unbound’ to anyone planning a team outing.

Additional Information:

Are flights included?

No flights are included in the cost of your trip.  While we are not licensed to purchase international air we can recommend an excellent flight broker to assist you with your travel to Ushuaia, Trelew or Puerto Madryn (depending on your itinerary).

Are pre or post trip hotels included?

Day 1 of every departure is your arrival day at your embarkation city and a hotel stay is included.  You can arrive any time this day and you will be guaranteed your room will be ready.  If you arrive on the scheduled day of departure there will be an airport transfer provided.

Do I need a passport or visa for this trip?

Currently all you require as a US citizen is a valid passport – we recommend having at least 6 months validity remaining beyond your planned return date – while Argentina is not currently enforcing this it is a requirement for many other South American countries and we cannot be held responsible if you are denied entry because your passport is close to expiration.

Currently citizens of the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand do not require a visa to enter Argentina (please double check however if you require to pay and entry fee). Please be sure your passport has sufficient blank pages for entry and exit stamps.

Do I need to purchase travel insurance?

Yes. Travel insurance in mandatory.  You must be covered for personal injury, medical expenses, evacuation and repatriation expenses.  This must include coverage for pre- existing medical conditions.

What is the weather like?

Typical day time temperatures are 28 to 39 degrees Fahrenheit but it can change in an instant.  Winds can also make the temperatures feel considerably colder so it is best to be dressed for wet and windy conditions all the time.

What currency should I bring?

The US Dollar is the on board currency.  On board expenses will be charged to your account and you can settle these using Visa or Mastercard at the end of your voyage.
