I went on this trip with some misgivings, as my only other experience with this type of tour was a winter Tauck Family Bridges tour of Italy, that was not a good experience. Well, I am SO glad I went, as my daughter and I had a marvelous time. Disney did an amazing job of organizing this trip - I still can't believe how much they managed to fit into essentially 8 days. I also can't believe how much fun it all was! The guides were tremendous. First of all, unlike Tauck (where we traveled with one tour manager), here we had two guides with us the entire time - one a licensed guide in Greece (i.e., a native, very knowledgeable about the country and able to really take us through the historical and archaeological sites) and the other an American who has been guiding in Greece for years. The interaction between the guides was very warm, as was their way of relating to the guests. This was a complete contrast with Tauck. Here people really got to know each other, the young people had a great time with each other, and, of course, Greece itself is just magnificent. I will certainly travel with Disney again!

After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, say goodbye to Cairo and fly to magical Abu Simbel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with two of the most magnificent temples in the world! Explore the area with an Egyptologist and learn the unbelievable story of how these extraordinary monuments were saved from the rising Nile waters.

The Tamr Henna

Welcome aboard the Tamr Henna, your Nile cruise ship docked in Aswan. This "floating hotel" provides comfortable accommodations on your 3-night cruise from Aswan to Luxor. Enjoy the cool Nile breezes as you pass iconic monuments on the river banks—such as the Temples of Philae and Edfu— the vast Sahara desert stretching into the horizon.

BBQ Lunch

Enjoy a tantalizing grilled lunch al fresco atop the sundeck of the Tamr Henna.

Felucca Sailing on the Nile River

With a local expert at the helm, venture forth across the placid emerald waters of the First Cataract for a scenic excursion. This is where the ancient Egyptians believed the god of the Cataracts dwelled, controlling the flow of the sometimes destructive waters.

Accommodations: Tamr Henna (Ship)

Temple of Philae

Start your day with breakfast on the Tamr Henna before boarding a motor launch to cross the mighty Nile to the Island of Agilkia, home to this famous temple, the Temple of Philae. With an Egyptologist as your private guide, explore the towering columns and mysterious hieroglyphs devoted to the goddess Isis.

Unfinished Obelisk

Commissioned by the only female pharaoh, Hatshepsut, this enormous obelisk would have been the largest in history had its sculptors not detected a crack in the granite and abandoned it in this bedrock quarry. An Egyptologist helps you examine the telltale markings that reveal the incredible technology employed by its creators.

Lunch on the Tamr Henna

Take a break and dine aboard the ship with a casual buffet lunch featuring fresh salads and grilled meats. Afterward, henna artists paint striking tattoos on willing arms and hands.

Don your chef's hat and apron for this hands-on cooking demonstration where you will learn from a chef how to make two Egyptian specialties and a tasty dessert! After the lesson, enjoy baklava with tea and coffee as you drift by the banks of the Nile.

The Temple of Kom Ombo

With an Egyptologist toward the end of the day, explore this double-temple that was long ago dedicated to the Crocodile-headed god, Sobek, and the Falcon-headed god, Horus (also known as "The Good Doctor"). Watch the sun as it sets on the Nile, spilling golden light on the waters.

Junior Adventurers Dinner and Disney Movie Night

As adults indulge in a restful meal onboard the Tamr Henna, Junior Adventurers enjoy a private dinner with the Adventure Guides. Afterward, before everyone bids each other messa el rir, parents can curl up with their young ones for an exclusive engagement in the ship's lounge to watch a Disney movie.

Day 6

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Accommodations: Tamr Henna (Ship)

Horse and Carriage Ride

The day starts with a breakfast on the ship before you disembark the Tamr Henna and climb into a horse-drawn carriage for a ride to the Temple of Edfu. Also known as a calash or hantoor, the carriage carries you past the fascinating city sights.

Tour of Edfu Temple

An Egyptologist introduces you to this beautiful, well-preserved temple dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god. Hear mesmerizing tales about gods and goddesses such as Isis, Hathor, Osiris and Horus before you discover the courtyards, storerooms and sacred artwork at your leisure.

Lunch On Board the Tamr Henna

Cruise down the Nile as you enjoy a casual buffet lunch. Spend the afternoon lounging on the deck. And as you pass through the Esna Locks, get into the fun as vendors beckon to you from boats, offering all kinds of goods—like pashminas and galabayas—that they toss up to you at the ship's railings. You throw payment back down in return. It's a unique way to shop!

The Temple of Luxor

Colossal statues of pharaohs and gods pose regally between the imposing columns and obelisks as you tour this vast temple complex. Enter the temple right at sunset as dwindling daylight soaks the horizon with golden rays. Picture the breathtaking grandeur of a pharaoh's parade as you wander down the Avenue of the Sphinxes, the royal processional path that connects Luxor and Karnak temples.

Dinner On Board the Tamr Henna

Choose from a select menu for a candle-lit dinner in your ship's restaurant and share stories about the day's events.
