For most people, the first mention of Switzerland evokes its classic imagery: high snow-capped mountains, rolling green pastoral hills, wooden chalets, charming villages and bearded mountain farmers—and let’s not forget about cheese, chocolate and watches. Fortunately, this trip features all of the above. From the lakes and vineyards to the Alpine valleys and impressive mountain peaks, you’ll ride e-bikes over small, beautiful, winding and rolling roads, contrasted by changing and impressive landscape. Along the way you’ll meet some local characters, from the Alpenhorn player to the cheese farmer and the wine maker, each of whom will share a bit of their journey with yours. You will taste delicious cheese and wine and become a chocolate connoisseur as you (somewhat ironically, given the setting) forget to check your watch entirely as you indulge in the lifestyle of the Swiss Alps.

Day 1: We set off from the medieval town of Orbe and get familiar with our e-bikes on an easy ride along small roads before lunch in a quaint winemaking village nestled in the heart of beautiful vineyards. We may decide to stop in one of the famous villages such as Epesses or St-Saphorin before dinner tonight in our hotel’s majestic salon.

Day 2: This morning we meet our bikes in the village of Le Bouveret, where the Rhone river enters the Léman. From here we’ll bike quiet roads along the Rhone to the town of St-Maurice and later gaze at the Swiss Riviera as we make our way back to to Vevey by steamboat. Dinner is at a gastronomic restaurant near our hotel.

Day 3: Heading into the Pays d’Enhaut (highlands) to the famous town of Gruyères (like the cheese), we’ll sample the region’s delicious fare before making our way to Gstaad, where we’ll meet a local cheese farmer (and do some further sampling, of course). Dinner tonight is at our hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant.

Day 4: Today we climb a famous Alpine pass, the Col du Pillon (good thing we’re on e-bikes!) from which we’ll take a gondola ride to the top of the Tsanfleuron Glacier, affording a stunning view of the Alps in all their glory. We’ll descend the mountains in time to explore Gstaad, try a longer ride to Lauenen Lake, or enjoy the hotel’s spa.

Day 5: For our last day together we will start biking right in the pre-Alpine hills overhanging Thun Lake, with a spectacularly open view of the high Alpine peaks in the distance—the perfect setting for a picnic lunch of regional specialties. Interlaken awaits this afternoon, where we’ll meet for dinner in one of our hotel’s private salons.

Day 6: After breakfast, we’ll arrange a taxi at your leisure to the Interlaken train station. It is time to say au revoir et bon voyage!

Le Grand Large, Dolus Ile D’oléron

Built in 1965, the hotel Le Grand Large has found its place in a natural way in the middle of the dunes and the beach of La Remigeasse. With Le Corbusier’s style and its exposure to the west, it’s a very luminous and comfortable place to relax. The hotel associates comfort with high-quality, designer furniture and a soft and chic atmosphere.

Hotel Le Toiras, St Martin De Ré

The Hôtel de Toiras is exceptionally well located at the entrance to the port of Saint Martin de Ré, the historical capital of the Île de Ré. The façades, typical of the old Île de Ré residences subjected to the forces of the Atlantic Ocean for nearly four centuries, make the hotel an integral part of the activities and life of this harbour town, endowing it with great natural charm.
